The Batman Reboot Casting Thread - Part 1

I'm 48 posts old, so yeah, my attitude is the problem. my reaction had nothing to do with taking exception with people thinking their word should be taken as gospel.

You're too old to have a mancrush on Armie Hammer. Weird.

Majik and Rockstar are notorious grumpy pants. Best to ignore them sometimes.

PS - Your never too old for a man crush.

I actually think Armie Hammer would've made a far better Hal Jordan than Ryan Reynolds.

Well in this case I agree with the "grumpy pants." Armie Hammer is a crappy actor. David Fincher's 10,000-take method fooled people into thinking he was actually good, but I've seen his cringeworthy stuff before that, I've seen his overrated (by some people) performance in J. Edgar, and the guy just plain sucks, imo.

In no way do I want Hammer as Batman, I just dislike the oppressive turn some of these threads take.

How would you feel about Joshua Jackson playing Batman, in light of his recent statements?

Ah well, can't say I blame you there. It feels kind of inevitable, though. I think everyone has some actors that they have stronger feelings about than others, and when they see that actor suggested to play their favorite character, it's natural to want to...vent, lol.

What do you think of Joaquin Phoenix? Get him on a work out plan and it could be something special. Could be a hell of a come back.

i thought armie was good in 2081 and the social network. i didn't think much of cavill in immortals or blood creek, and yet i have no problem with him as supes.

it just amuses how some people come off sounding offended by suggestions though. if your opinion means that much, the **** are you doing on a public forum? shouldn't you be casting actors in LA?

That...is an interesting suggestion. I love him as an actor. He's one of my picks for Lex Luthor in the new MoS franchise. I think the only thing that would give me pause for Batman is his voice. I have a hard time imagining that voice in this role (the same concern I'd have with Gosling). But then again, I had problems imagining that same voice as Johnny Cash too, so who knows. I do think he's better suited for a villain, but I'll admit, if he were cast as Batman, I would be very interested in seeing him in the role.

Whenever I see Armie Hammer, the first words that come to mind are "goofy" and "doofus". I just can't begin to see him as Batman.

His face is too doughy IMO. A hero should have more chiseled features.

Agreed on both counts.

I agree that Jackson is wrong for Batman.

He may not be a bad choice for reboot Hal Jordan/Green Lantern though. He's got the right mix of seriousness and quirky comedy for the role, and looks the part enough.

i felt something similar when nolan tried to convince us that christian bale as billionaire bruce wayne would fall in love with the rachel dawes played miss piggy incarnate, maggie gyllenhaal.

What recent statements has he made? I'm pretty sure I remember reading somewhere that he was the second choice to play Bruce in the Nolan movies, right after Christian Bale.
I don't think he has quite the right look for Batman, he's too soft and sweet looking to me, though I do love him and am usually happy to see him in just about anything really.

He could probably be a good Dick Grayson, though (adult Nightwing version ).

A teenage Joshua Jackson would've been perfect for Peter Parker but he's no Bruce Wayne.

From what I remember, he wasn't 2nd choice, but he was high up.
The only comment he made recently was that he wouldn't turn down auditioning for the role again, it's Batman; but that he loved what Nolan and Bale had created.

How about Andrew Lincoln? From The Walking Dead, I've always thought he had a Keaton type of look, he's 38 5"10

The rule for superhero flicks is you either go young or you go RDJ.

The only way they'd cast a an over 35 actor is if he's already an established big name star to get people interested. Otherwise they go young.

I'm just saying though imagine jon hamm as bruce wayne:
