Unfortunately, Hamm's window is closing pretty quickly. Unless they elect to go with a seasoned Batman the next time out, he will be too old by the time the next franchise starts up.

they won't need to reboot it. just cast hamm and tell a different story. I'm pretty sure most people interested in these sort of films is already well acquainted with bats so it isn't as if they need to start it over. if a JL film is next, i think he'd be a great choice. both wonder woman and supes are basically immortal while bats is just a human, so it isn't as if he has to look their age either.

I'd like to see Adrien brody as the joker. apparently he was in the running before heath was cast.

Don't get me wrong. I would much rather have an older, seasoned Batman in the next franchise. In which case, there is absolutely no excuse not to pursue Hamm with everything they've got. He is pitch-perfect.

The question is, will Warner Brothers want to go that route?

if they're smart(which they aren't) they should. while the franchise has name recognition, if put in the wrong hands it could turn into a disaster.

If I had to make a wild guess, what they'll do is:
-If MoS is a hit, go immediately to Justice League, with a new rebooted and unintroduced Batman. A reboot Batman movie will then follow.
-If MoS isn't a hit, they'll do a quick Batman reboot instead, and probably another origin movie.

The rule for superhero flicks is you either go young or you go RDJ.

The only way they'd cast a an over 35 actor is if he's already an established big name star to get people interested. Otherwise they go young.

I'm just saying though imagine jon hamm as bruce wayne:

Just thought i'd quote my post to show the pic that got this talk started. Now that is bruce wayne.

I'm not my self in favor of a full on reboot so casting an older actor as hamm is would be fine.

Yup Hamm would indeed be pretty great as Batman/Wayne, it i think most of us can agree this needs to happen after the Nolan/Bale era is over. Would love to see Hamm as the next Caped Crusader, i also think it depends on if WB pushes for him and also who directs

Should Batman, in the reboot, new movies, be a young Bruce Wayne or an older Bruce Wayne?
I could have seen DC doing an older Superman with him being an older and more mature 35-40ish year old.

Enough with rebooting Batman, continue stories from the comic's that havent been told on the big screen, seriously there's SO much you can do with a older, wiser batman instead of the same old reboot with the beginning of the story.

From what I remember, he wasn't 2nd choice, but he was high up.
The only comment he made recently was that he wouldn't turn down auditioning for the role again, it's Batman; but that he loved what Nolan and Bale had created.

I believe Cillian Murphy was second. He was so good they gave him Scarecrow as a consolation prize.

Older. I feel like the new series could be a loose continuation of the Nolan movies without directly referencing them. Just establish with a couple of well-placed lines of dialogue that his origin is essentially the one we already saw in BB and move on. But they should also use this "reboot" as an opportunity to tweak the universe a bit to start bringing in some of the more outlandish villains/sci-fi elements, which could also pave the way for his universe to merge with Man of Steel's, if they are still inclined to do so.

I've always felt like Batman seemed older than Superman, even if he wasn't actually in the comics. So it wouldn't bother me at all if we had a seasoned Batman paired with a relatively young Superman.

I can totally see Thomas Gibson as Bruce Wayne in terms of looks. His voice reminds me of Kevin Conroy.

Thomas Gibson is too old. The guy is about to be 50. Maybe back in the 90s he might have worked. It needs to be someone roughly 10- 15 years younger.

Just saw the Hamm suggestion and pick and I could go for it. I think he looks great and what I would envision

I don't think WB are going to go for an actor older than Christian Bale for the reboot, especially since the series will need a hard reboot.

Not sure what a "hard" reboot is, but odds are I disagree and you're wrong.

No chance of using anything of Nolan's films, especially since he will be the producer, and he doesn't want people using his stuff, and Jeff Robinov said it will be a complete reboot, not the Superman Returns/Batman Forever type pseudo-sequel. The movie will need to retell certain parts of the story, ie the origin, it may not go as in depth as Batman Begins, but they'll do some of it.

They have a formula that works for Batman now (explain every detail), they're not going to abandon it.

So, guess I was right when I said I disagree and that you are wrong.

i think that would be a terrible waste. that would mean they're scared **** less of trying anything new. not that that's new news to me anyway.

I often dream of a horror approach to a Batman film.
