Captain Marvel The Captain Marvel box office prediction thread

I've never noticed that, thanks for pointing that out. :)

Like what I said "I'm not basing my prediction on the number posts on threads but I just feel that not a lot of people are interested in CM."

I just feel that if Marvel got another actress to play CM, it would be more appealing. Don't get me wrong, I think Brie Larson is a good actress, I think she got an Oscar or something. I just feel that she doesn't fit as Captain Marvel.

Like how Gal Gadot is perfect for Wonder Woman or RDJ is spot on as Iron Man. Brie just doesn't fit.

Personally I think she fits captain marvel perfectly.

Not sure about that to be honest. I Think not sure mcu fans will go see this movie, I think it's shaping up to be an mcu solo event.
Have you not read my post ? I'm not saying that This movie will not be profitable. I predict it will make somewhere between 700 and 800 mil, though I admit these are just estimates. But the release date will have an effect on how much it ends up earning world-wide. There are many movies that people want to see in coming weeks, so it makes sense that people will not go and see this movie number of times unless they are MCU fans.

Oh and one more thing... I think that they couldn't have selected a better actress for Captain Marvel, she fits the role completely.

Hopefully we can get revised opening weekend estimates soon to see if those huge early predictions are holding.

I just cant wait until this film is released and , it does way more tha anyone ever expected it to.
Yeah man, like you, I'm not really in to this movie. I was just looking at post counts on threads because I was curious to see if people are talking about CM.

I just don't hear or see the buzz regarding this movie. Well in my part of the world at least.

600mil is still a big number though. :)
600 million is a big number.
It will make a LOT more than that.

I don't really see the upcoming movies really effecting it that much.

If anything Brie is the suit looks amazing

The next big movie after CM is Endgame, almost two months out
Yeah I don't see much competition hindering this movie's performance

I guessed 800+, but that's also what I thought for Panther... so I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see a $1bil performance... I mean if Aquaboy can do it surely this movie can

Aquaman did it, because it was a very good movie.
Fingers Crossed.

She looks great in both suits. I’m glad it looks like we will get good screentime for both.

'Captain Marvel' Tracking for Marvelous $100M-Plus Debut

Captain Marvel is tracking to open to a marvelous $100 million-plus in North America, the biggest box-office debut since Jurassic World: The Hidden World stomped to $148 million in summer 2018.

Marvel and Disney's first female-fronted superhero pic stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot who is infused with special powers before finding herself at the center of battle between two alien worlds that threatens earth.

Captain Marvel opens three weeks from now on March 8. Rival studis with access to tracking say metrics for the film are "giant," including unaided awareness and definite interest.

‘Captain Marvel’ Opening Weekend: Around $100M – Early Projection

Disney’s Captain Marvel from Marvel landed on tracking today, and most early industry estimates are certain that it’s headed to $100M, especially with the pic’s enormous first choice score of 33 and the fact that the trailer clocked a huge 109M views in its first 24 hours, but we have to remember a couple of things:

First, we’re in a funky marketplace. Yes, Captain Marvel could certainly change that. Also, outside of Iron Man‘s $102M and Black Panther‘s $202M (and he was introduced in Captain America: Civil War), no other Marvel origins film has opened to north of $100M, particularly those in the deeper universe, i.e. Doctor Strange ($85M) and Guardians of the Galaxy ($94.3M). That said, we haven’t had a Marvel movie since July, and as Avengers: Infinity War tipped us off in its epilogue, Captain Marvel has something to do with saving superheroes who’ve disappeared into atoms.

Another box office industry source informed us on Captain Marvel‘s $100M start: “Give or take $20M”.

Again, a $100M start for this movie which stars Oscar winner Brie Larson as ace fighter pilot Carol Danvers is feasible, but projections were so far off for Universal/BVI/Blumhouse’s Glass, it was ridiculous. Captain Marvel opens on March 8.

Still a great number but I knew those 150M+ Opening projections were wrong.

I think it's to early to say they were wrong, it's still three weeks until the movie comes out. I still got this movie making over 130 opening weekend.

$100m feels too low. Hopefully the plus means it finishes well clear of that.

First choice poll

Captain Marvel - 33%
Infinity War - 38%
Black Panther - 25%
Ragnarok - 24%
Homecoming - 22%

Tracking vs OW

Infinity War - $200M vs $257M
Black Panther - $100M vs $202M
Ragnarok - $100M vs $122M
Homecoming - $100M vs $117M

The ones who reported the 150M+ are the ones who’ve been more accurate these days. THR/Deadline lowball a lot, as their studio connections use them to manage expectations.

Agreed. Deadline is always on the more conservative studio side of things. They almost never go full hog in predicting $200+ million OWs. CM would basically need to have really terrible reviews/reactions for it to drop below $100 million at this point. The biggest things working in its favor are it's been 9 months since the last MCU release and it's leading into Endgame.

Example:

‘Black Panther’ Projected To Open To $120M-$150M Over Four Days

‘Black Panther’ Projected To Open To $120M-$150M Over Four Days

More often then not early tracking starts on the lower end and then builds as the film gets closer to release.

I sure hope that tracking estimate is right.
Hoping for 140-160 million on opening weekend.
