Captain Marvel The Captain Marvel box office prediction thread

Mentioned this before but I was in India for about 2 weeks over the summer and I saw dozens of people on the street wearing Marvel shirts, most of them being Cap's shield. It kinda blew my mind.
Nice. I think I might remember you saying that actually, sounds familiar. It's great to see how far these films are reaching, and the MCU in particular is doing well in a lot of new places that can grow a lot in future.

I'm expecting CM to have a huge opening week.
I'm expecting 120 million myself, but then it will close around $600-$700 WW. Like I said, not a flop, but not this record breaking juggernaut everyone is expecting either.

I love how you credited Black Panther success to everything but the movie, hell you even went as far as to make it all about Tony. And I see you're already creating conspiracy theories in case this movie does well. Just say you hope this movie flops and go, own your truth.
Why are you so defensive of this movie? It's just a movie. In 10 years, or even a year from now, everyone will have forgotten about it. And it's not like you will be getting any of this money? LOL.

If it can get 400+m in NA, 180+m in China, and 75m in South Korea. You are looking at almost 700m from 3 markets, after that the climb to 1B shouldn't be too steep.

I know Brazil isn't a huge movie market (I don't think?) but Captain Marvel seems to have a HUGE following there. I would think Brazil could push those numbers up.

Anything over that, I am going to assume Disney is artificially inflating the box office for bragging rights. :/
So either I'm right or it's rigged? I'm sure I've heard that before somewhere.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've read. So if the movie makes more money than they think it will, then it means that Disney somehow inflated the numbers?

:lmao:

Why are you making up conspiracy theories about the box office performance of a movie that have been out for a year? I guess you care as much as I do.

Then why is The Last Jedi considered a box office failure even though it made a lot of money at the box office?

Brazil can be big. $66.7m for IW behind only China, U.K. and South Korea from overseas markets.

How is it a conspiracy when it's true?

Wow, that was huge. I hope CM makes at least half of that. I wonder how much other solo MCU movies made there?

Some recent solos:

Dr Strange 22.7m
Ant Man & Wasp 13m
Ragnarok 30.4m
Black Panther 36.9m

No one with a brain and an elementary school level understanding of math considers The Last Jedi a box office failure.

If you want to make an argument that it is was a failure for other reasons fine. Knock yourself out. But stating that ANY movie that grosses 1.3 billion is a BOX OFFICE failure is an objectively false statement.

Come on, there's no way you believe black panther made 700 million dollars in North America from this. These free tickets made no significant impact on BP's box office.

Wow! I had no idea Ragnarok, Dr Strange and BP made that much. If everything goes well, CM could make 30m.

Brazil is a HUGE market for superhero movies.

The biggest markets for superhero movies are: the US, China, UK, South Korea, Brazil & Mexico.

Yes, certainly possible.

If I remember correctly Coco and the 3 Avengers films to date make up the top 4 all-time grossers in Mexico, so Endgame will be a slam dunk there too.

Yes.

1. Infinity War
2. Coco
3. The Avengers
4. Age of Ultron
8. Civil War

Mexico and Brazil really love superhero movies.

Also actually it doesn’t seem to me these are free free or Disney paid for them discreetly to “inflate” the number. Someone had to pay for the kids and not all movies can prompt people to be generous. The only true free ones are the week before the Oscar in limited theaters and those I am sure didn’t count toward BO.
