Captain Marvel The Captain Marvel box office prediction thread

Still holding well on weekdays.

Not really, it's interesting to see how the characters would look like in live action for starters and how it differs from the animated film. The main problem is if they aren't good enough.
Interesting but not needed or asked for.

Let the animated films continue to stand for the achievements that they were.

I have yet to see a live-action converted film to emote better, be paced better, or shot better than the animated film that they're based on.

Disney's retreading old ground with little to show for other than the latest CG they can do and cashing in on nostalgia. So to me... yes. Wasteful.

Maybe the Lion King could change my mind.

How many films are asked for and who deem's if their needed? I agree with you that the concept is getting tired at this point, but B&B did make 1.2 billion and The Jungle Book 1 billion. They may not have been needed except for the people responsible for those totals...The Lion King may do even better. There have definitely been misses, but the three films I mentioned will easily make it all worthwhile for the studio.

Eventually the well will run dry.

Yes. But the climb to a billion is after a larger market, higher ticket prices, and an older more-willing audience (ie those that were exposed as children--now adults).

After watching B&B, I can say that the animated feature still stands the test of time. And quite frankly, the live actors tend to be more clunky and stiff... and how can they compete with the dynamic drawings of Disney's talented artist?

It just doesn't. And if this trend continues without something new to entice viewers, it may just hurt rather than help future endeavors.

Again. My opinion--waste of resources rather than doing something new. Keep them looking forward and stop digging in the past.

Wow, that would be an awesome hold for the weekend. Hope that pans out and this can hang in there for a good while yet.

I'll take your word for it as I haven't seen the live action remakes. I knew they would get an audience but I was certainly surprised at the level of success. Nostalgia is a powerful drug.

I do welcome next chapter of the main Disney label after these remakes, we're in agreement there. Although I wouldn't mind a Black Hole remake :oldrazz:

Cinderella did exactly that, imo. It added a depth to that story that simply wasn't there before.

Sorry, but I had to sit through that film and I beg to differ.

I just want to clarify though... Cinderella 2015 was emoted, paced, and shot better than the animated film?

And as far as depth is concerned, one can make that argument to all of the currently released live-action though. It's neither good or bad to have depth.

Not needed and asked for, yet some of the movies earned a billion. You don't speak for the general audience. They are Disney films after all and they have the right to remake their movies, its not like you are getting Aladdin remake number 5.

It is certainly good to have depth, imo. And yes, I think the original Cinderella is an unremarkable film, and the remake eclipsed it in all areas, from the visuals, to the pacing, and ESPECIALLY the emoting. It was just a much more effective version of that story on every level to me.

Agreed. But BATB was a giant waste of time. I'm looking forward to the Lion King and Aladdin.

Wow! The late legs are kicking in now. Most thought it would have 11m at most.

Well, Deadline have once again been off on their early estimates :argh:

They are now predicting a $12.9M WE, but tbh if the early Friday estimate of $3.1M checks out then I'm expecting $12M-$12.5M (41. 7%-39.3% drop) which again is a pretty good hold (and more realistic).

After CM finishes its run and EndGame is released we will have a Top 10 with 9 MCU films plus Incredibles II !!!

Warner Bros should be ashamed. Every single exec of the last decade should be fired to be honest. Damn them useless pricks.

#Superhero movie fatigue

Still a good hold, especially with Shazam! doing well.

WB has nothing to be ashamed about.
They are catching up.

Yes they do. They are useless clueless morons who will only have Aquaman temporarily in the top 10 list of superhero films and thats thanks to the month of December and nothing else.

Their shared DC universe failed and they ruined all their movies.

They re not catching up s**t.
Two good movies in a row without a shared universe isnt catching up.
They watching the MCU with telescopes at this point.

Looks like it’s going to be around to stay a while
Longer :cwink:

What numbers is it likely to be putting up for the weeekend by the time Endgame rolls around?

I have never seen the live action version
But, I have heard many good things.
