The airport fight scene is easily one of the best in any cbm. So freaking awesome, pure joy for sure.

Its interesting how many of us speculated that T'Chaka's death would spark T'Challa's crusade against Bucky. I could be wrong but didnt Feige debunk that T'Chaka would die and he would have a major role in the solo film?

You have to drown your darlings. The scene does nothing for the plot. Here is how easy it is to replace--

EXT. Airport- Day

Steve and Bucky steal a plane and fly away.

EXT. Ocean- Day

Tony's helicopter lands on Ross' James Bond island/sub.

The scene might not be super "important to the plot" but its pure joy on screen. Something that certain other film couldn't do right. I literally had a smile on that entire sequence...this is why I go to the movies.

Finally saw it and I'm just blown away. I think it is my favorite MCU film because of how naturally it connects with the wider Universe and rewards fans who've cared about it all. I'll probably have to see it a few more times before I ultimately rank it but right now, I would go CW>TA>IM>TWS for my top four. Just so much goodness.

On a side note, it also has me even more depressed about what has happened in the DCEU.

Paraphrasing but that line I think makes Steve's stance the more moral of the two. Give me a break, we all know how corrupt the government is. They would send the Avengers into an unjustified war like Iraq...

The United Nations actually did not support the war in Iraq.

I think in real life we would want accountability. In the fiction of this film, we can all say, "Oh of course you can trust Captain America! It's freakin' Captain America!"

Then again, Tony unintentionally made Ultron, who ended up killing a lot of people by the end of that film. That in turn led to Daniel Burl's character killing Black Panther's father and a number of other people, which led to further destabilization when the Avengers started fighting amongst themselves and leveled an international airport.

I mean, the strength of the movie is that they are heroes. But the only reason we are wary of Team Stark is simply because who he ends up aligning with to make it happen. Otherwise, Tony would seem to be the more reasonable one of the two.

Even better on 2nd viewing, I picked things up I was too engrossed to pick up the first time e.g. the voice Zemo is listening to, responding, on his phone is voice-mail..Duh. (Bruhl really was brilliant)

The nobility and self-confidence, without a trace of ego, of Boseman' performance as T'Challa is another thing that resonated even more on 2nd viewing

I agree. Whedon steered him in the right direction in AOU but this was full-on Clint.

Having now seen the film, my sole issue remains that the fight over the death of Tony's parents comes after they've already stopped fighting over the accords, and have "teamed up" against Zemo. I don't mind them fighting over two separate topics, but I honestly would have preferred no truce at all if it's not gonna last the rest of the film.

It works better that way. Honestly, the airport thing was pretty light and it felt like everyone was handling each other with kid gloves until War Machine got hurt. Otherwise, it was just a wacky day at the office. When Tony found out about his parents, it stopped being something that could easily be reconciled. Then it became wrathful and bitter. And the twist was unexpected. I only knew that they weren't going to stay friends because the trailer showed the 2-on-1 fight already.

In the end, it was much more dramatically satisfying that Tony got worked up over something altogether that also made him both clearly in the wrong (while before, some might side with Tony) but still totally understandable on an emotional level. It was a well done little twist.

CW movie is much better than aou on par with winter soldier and tdk. each character had their own ark and was well balanced i wanted to see more of bp fleshed out his action scenes were great though. spidey was great but i was sad since i really liked garfield as spidey. hawkeye was cool as usual. ant man was probably less utilized but he literally had his big shining moment i lol when vision went right through him. sw had a surprisngly strong arc. bw was cool i wish we could have seen her with cap at the end breaking the others out.

I'm so glad the Russo's are doing what they're doing in the MCU. Between TWS and now CW, I can't wait to see what they do with Avengers. And this film really holds a lot more weight and resonates more if you're a big fan of the MCU in general. It works so well.

Hopefully tomorrow sometime. Looking forward to it.

If you think about it, Tony Stark should be in jail for creating Ultron.

Once again, if you really think about it, superheroes are somewhat fascist in concept. They are also unchecked vigilantes.

Ultimate Spider-Man actually had a solution to all of this. Nick Fury and SHIELD take in all the young heroes as their recruits and teach and train them. They have a working relationship with a lot of the existing heroes. They work hand in hand with Damage Control to perform clean-up. Try to teach heroes on how to limit battles and collateral damage.

In short, SHIELD acts as the oversight to the superhero community in the animated shows. Granted this isn't a SHIELD that was infiltrated and taken over by HYDRA, but whatever.

I think a point to be made there that even the Avengers are infallible of becoming corrupted or infiltrated by villains. And I think that's Captain America's mistake. Now maybe the UN shouldn't have complete lateral control over the Avengers and total say on when they get activated. But maybe it's you know not OK that a group of superheroes can go and do whatever they want without any consequences.

just got through seeing it and HELL YEAHHHHH!!!! GIANT MAN WAS AWESOME!!!

and Black Panther of course with that "now that the winter soldier is here! They will come for him!...let them try!!!" and with the PANTHER MONUMENT!! almost made me jump out my seat! LOVED IT!!

As great as the Russo's are at staging action, did anyone feel like there were too many cuts and occasional annoying shaky cam?

This was mainly the case with the stairwell fight scenes with Cap and Bucky against the task unit. Still great action though.

However, I haven't seen anyone really mention how excellent black widow was in this. Her parkour and fight scenes in Nigeria were phenomenal; she was kicking ass and had some of the best fight scenes in any action movie; period.

It was so stupid of the marketing to put that final fight in the trailers, it made the fake-out on them resolving their issues worthless since we knew they'd come to blows again, and even more personally.

Agreed, to me it kinda just made me think more like "oh **** theres still a final fight scene, whats gonna cause them to break up again?"
