The Dark Knight Rises The Dark Knight Rises - Final Scene

I already know the ending. Known it for months.

Gordon and Batman stand on a rooftop, some days after Gotham has been saved. Batman is about to jump off the ledge and fly away when he turns to Gordon and says:

"Why do we fall commissioner?"

Gordon shakes his head

Batman says:

"So we can learn to pick ourselves back up"

Then he jumps off and glides away, then the camera switches to a first person perspective and you see a huge question mark on one of the skyscrapers, with "Riddle me this" written under it. Hanz Zimmer takes it from there as the credits roll. :oldrazz:
You forgot that part. It's gonna set up a fourth film, obviously. :BA 'Conclusion' indeed.

I personally hate Superman. I prefer they keep any mention or even blurry pic of him out of this movie.

Ummmm, Hello?? Spoiler Alert??? :funny:

Open to Gordon and Blake standing over Bruce's grave.

Gordon: He gave his life for the city.(beat) What's left of it.

Blake: What are we to do now? If people think he is dead, things will get just as they were before.

Gordon: I've handled that.

We see Gordon getting a new bat signal. Gordon reads the letter that came with the signal, It says "thank you".

As the Batsignal shines in the night sky as we see a montage of the city being rebuilt.

We see people living with hope, as the camera pans up a building we see gargoyles, then eyes open. It is a dark silhouette figure in the shadows guarding the city. Fade to black THE DARK KNIGHT RISES cue final Dark Knight theme.

I don't mind Superman. But indeed, I like him absent from Batman's universe in most cases. Freeze and Clayface for example are not realistic at all, but are on a power level that Batman can deal with. If Superman is around, what's stopping him flying over at any point and stopping the crisis in five seconds? In that aspect I like things grounded, where Batman is the king of his universe.

There's not gonna be a rooftop ending or Bruce still being Batman. We can all be a little more creative than that lol

Yeah. And saying that Bruce's going to die because of the title is much more creative huh? Give me a break.

Um.....honestly anything would be more creative than it ending with him on a rooftop or swooping over Gotham in the Bat, continuing to fight crime in our imaginations. To avoid dissappointment for yourself, do not expect those types of endings.

No Cliche Open-Ended Batman Rooftop Ending=/=Bruce Dying.

And what does the idea of him dying have to do with the title? If anything it's quite open-minded and a big stretch given how contradictory that would be to the title at first glance.

This is how I would like the Dark Knight Rises to end ...

Batman defeats in the BAT ( she dies) in the crash.
Batman knows that he must get the device out of the range of the city . He hooks up a grappling wire from the BAT to the armored truck to fly the device to Gotham Bay , where he will drop the device before in activates . Batman knows that this is the only way to save his city .
Batman takes Catwoman aside they embrace. He pulls away from her and flies to the river , the time runs out when he flies to Gotham Bay , theres an explosion .
Both Gordon and Catwoman lower their heads with deep sorrow.
Batman saves Gotham from Banes device that would of destroyed all of Gotham by sacrificing himself as a man that is made of flesh and blood.

Months pass...

Gotham is rebuilding .
Wayne Manor becomes an orphanage .
Gordon retires as commissioner and John Blake takes up role.
The bat signal reflects in the clouds, it is a symbol of hope that people of
Gotham embrace .
Somewhere in a cafe in Italy a man is sitting at a table enjoying life , he is
Bruce Wayne , his quest as Batman is over .
Alfred and Selina Kyle are with him.
Selina reveals to Bruce that she is with child.

In Arkham Aslyum a young blonde haired woman steps out of a cell , wrapping her arms around her stomach while humming a lullaby , the sound of laughter echoes.

Years past ...an older John Blake is on th roof top of the MCU waiting , he
flicks on the searchlight .
Hidden in the shadows of the a roof top a figure is crouched down looking down at the city beneath him. He lifts his head to reveal the face of Batman and looks up at the signal in the sky and fires a grappling hook .
Lands on the roof top and looks at Blake.
"Good evening Commissioner , sorry I'm late ."

*Michael Keaton wakes up from a deep slumber, grasping or air terrified after Bruce Wayne's back is broken by Bane. Calms down wiping the sweat off his brow in his bed.*

*jack Nicholson in Joker makeup lays next to him and looks over.*

Joker: What's wrong, honey?
MK: I had the strangest dream. I was a crime fighting bat, and I was paralyzed by a bodybuilder who wore a strange mask.
Joker: Don't worry hun it was all just a dream...
MK: Yes... Just a dream....

*Fade to black while playing original score from the 1989 Batman.*

Gordan and Batman meet up on the roof*
Batman - *knocks on the new and improved Bat signal* "Nice"
Gordan - "I couldn't find any Mob Bosses"

Both- *smiles in understanding*

Batman - "Well Commisioner"
Gordan - "No it's Mayor now. You really started something. Corrupt cops non-existant, hope... everywhere. Good people of Gotham shaken out of apathy."
Batman - "But..."
Gordan - "Well there's just one more criminal to be caught... a fugitive really"
Batman - "You'll do what you have to do then"
Gordan - "Well... I'm a mayor now. That's not my concern anymore. Besides I heard the fugitive skipped for good now"
Batman - *understands but is worried* "But what if Gotham needs me?"
Gordan - "Well right now it doesn't. If and when it does, I'll make sure and give you a call."

Both - *stare a each and nod in agreement*

Batman - *Walks over to ledge and prepares to jump*
Gordan - "Where will you go?"
Batman - *stares for a while then turns to Gordan* "Any suggestions?".
Gordan - "Well you know I've been reading in the papers that they've been having quite the tourist attraction going on upstate"
Batman - "What kind of attraction?"
Gordan - "The kind I think you'd appreciate" *hands Batman a newspaper*

Newspaper reads - "Metropolis: Under Attack by Flying Aliens?" and there is blurry picture of blue & red figure in the sky

Batman - "I'll look into it"
Batman - *walk back to ledge then turns to Gordan* "Thank you Jim"
Gordan - "You're welcome.............. and good luck... Bruce"
Batman *Jumps off and into Batwing, and then takes off into the night sky*

I think we're all at least on the same general page that no matter what it shall be...

somehow Gordon needs to be involved in the final scene.

Batman has a meeting with Commissioner Gordon before flying off to go to a party as Bruce Wayne, in honor of actor and friend Gary Oldman. Things get complicated when The Riddler sends out a riddle threatening Oldman's life, and Commisioner Gordon shows up at the party with officers to protect him. Epic hijinks are had.

Directed by Blake Edwards.

if they are going to go with a bright white screen with tdkr in black letters as the title screen before the credits I think its possible that somehow the last scene has to end in a way where the transition/cut to the bright white screen is effective

i mean with a black background and bb/tdk in white letters title screen almost anything can happen at the end and then just fade/cut to black and bb/tdk appears ---this works

but its kind of odd to just fade to bright white--so there might be some event that could work with bright white overcoming the screen right before the credits---like Bane's device going off, or the Bat exploding in the air, or the Bat taking the device with it into the ocean and then exploding, or maybe something much simpler like batman's funeral and then pan up to the clouds then cut to white

I hope you're not suggesting TDKR ends something like this. We'd all go insane.

no i sure don't want a cliffhanger type ending like that---i was just spit balling, its just as likely that the title screen before the credits is again black with tdkr in white anyway

I thought about this too... Like maybe a HUGE mushroom cloud explostion goes off and then White Flash fades to White... but this just sounds to morbid to just roll credits after and explostion unless its a end of the world kind of scenerio. Who knows though.

Maybe the final scene ends in the day time or in a very Brightly lit enviroment before it fades to White, if it indeed does... Doubt it, but almost anything is possible.
