I'd say so. If not ,then probably a tie between catwoman/riddler/penguin and two-face.
As far as fanfare for Batman villains- I'd say it goes:

1. Joker
2. Catwoman
3. Riddler
4. Penguin
5. Two-Face

IMO, anyways.

I just don't see them releasing a teaser in June.

Eh, I don't think the number of people that will see a movie just to catch a teaser is significant enough to make a dent and to risk attaching a teaser to a lesser known movie (GL) to increase that movie's sales over attaching a teaser to a HUGE movie (HP) that will guarantee more people to be aware of the teaser.

I think the logic for you guys saying it'll be attached to HP is kinda backwards. They KNOW it's going to sell tickets, and be an event regardless.

GL is an untested commodity. They're going to want to draw new audiences to a fanboy property, and TDK did that on a mainstream level. What better way to ensure they'll sell extra tickets than attach the most anticipated trailer of the year with a property they're unsure of? One that's also a comic book movie.

HP doesn't need the extra fanfare, batfans are VERY different from Potter fans, they will go out in troves to see this last installment regardless. Plus, if they rush the trailer to be ready for GL, they can re-air the same trailer before HP7-2 just to make sure the broadest audience sees it and gets hyped. To waste that kind of a 'fan engine' on something they know is going to put butts in seats regardless, is kind of a waste in my eyes.

TDKR teaser isn't going to sell GL tickets. Mostly because they won't have a teaser with it.

The Harry Potter has a broader audience. You need to advertise thr film the mainstream. Also theres more time to complete 'the teaser if it went with Potter

The point of the teaser is to let the general audience know that the movie is coming next year. With that in mind, it makes sense that they would attach it to a movie that will have a huge opening -- particularly given that it will allow for some crossover marketing. Potter and Batman fans are different, but TDK was a huge hit across all audiences. Marketing its sequel to Potter fans and the rest of the general audience that shows up for HP8 is smart and it will make a bigger splash in the media, which also helps publicity for the film.

I just don't see them releasing a teaser in June.

Most likely in June, and on a Friday; I remember when they released the teaser and that photo that day. Two of Glendale's news reporters died in a midair helicopter collision sadly that day as well. :csad:

How many members of the GA run to see a movie because of a trailer that's attached? The stories you (not you specifically) read about people going to see I Am Legend, The Simpsons, etc. just for TDK originate from these boards, or places like it. It's the fans who sometimes run to movies to see trailers, and in this case, such fans are likely already going to be seeing Green Lantern in the first place.

The reason so many, myself included, assume Potter to be the likeliest is not due to drawing in fans to watch the trailer. The exact opposite. What's the best way to put TDKR on the radar for a MASSIVE amount of people in one go? Potter. Of course, there is also the issue of having something ready in less than a month, as opposed to slightly less than two months.

As you said in your newer post, time will of course tell, but I can't see how TDKR's teaser would increase GL's numbers in any significant way. Definitely not a substantial reason to rush (if rushing is needed - again, we know next to nothing) a teaser for June.

But TDK had a 2 month head start on filming over TDKR. No way they'll have a teaser by next month.

^ how long before the opening of the dark knight, did we get that logo teaser trailer??? I'm just wondering when we might expect the teaser for TDKR??? hopefully sooner, rather then later :-) They're going BIG with this film! It's going out with a major bang!

How much time do they need to master some audio, and slap it with the official symbol? That's enough to get people excited & aware.

Noone's saying they can't air it AGAIN and get extra eyes to see it. My point is just that if they want premiering it to be an event, if they want to draw people in to see it for the very first time, why not do it with a movie they're not sure is going to be a def. Blockbuster?

I think you mean July. The teaser hit with Comic Con at the end of July.

This.

why can't it be with both?

NO WAY THEY'LL HAVE ANYTHING TO USE AFTER A MONTH OF FILMING. I want to be wrong but I really doubt it guys.

If the teaser was going to debut with Green Lantern, wouldn't the trailer listings have it attached to that film, instead of with Harry Potter?

Fair enough. Guess I just assume people will be on the ball with things as I am when it comes to news of trailers/teasers. The larger GA would probably not come out unless WB advertised its being attached to GL.

I acquiesce, because I see your point here. They might not have enough time to compose a trailer, because it's a whole lot less time than TDK had, maybe it was just wishful thinking on my part.

Unless it's all audio but as some posters already pointed out, an audio teaser might not work so well this time around compared to TDK who has the Joker and his iconic laugh and symbol (card).

Catwoman "Meow" and whip?

I agree here. I myself often come across this sometimes; I'm so up-to-date on film happenings, news, etc. etc., and then when I get into a conversation with some of my not so up-to-date friends, they're lost. For instance, as you said, WB would have to widely announce the teaser's attachment in order to even attempt to create somewhat significant ripples. We, as fans, who know what's going on, are often privy to things that the mass market has no clue about. We read reports, we watch for the news, and we know when something like a trailer is attached to an upcoming film. Unless there's some announcement targeted to the general audience, the vast majority of movie goers are ignorant to the information we have. This, at least, is my perception of/experience with the situation. I'm sure others see it/have experienced it differently.

I hope it is not with HP7.5, so I won't have to buy a $15 ticket just to watch a trailer..

I think we will definitely see some Catwoman in the pre release stuffs, but not for a little bit. They already have us wanting to know more about Bane.

This makes sense. Well put.
