To all of those wanting a Robin:
I love Robin, but didn't Nolan say he thought Robin was too campy to fit into this particular franchise at one point? While Robin is a great character, he was initially introduced to the series as a draw in for younger fans. This franchise is aimed at a mature audience. I can understand why they aren't doing it.

I really hope this remains the last film. As much as I love this universe of Batman, the law of diminishing returns as well as film history shows that eventually if the series were continued it would slowly devolve, and the universe created would slowly seem less and less engaging and groundbreaking as we become desensitized to it. And this is assuming that the next batch of movies is on par to the current two. Also, less people would go see each consecutive movie as interest is lost, giving them less and less budget to spend on further films.

I do hope I don't have to wait too long before the next Batman movies or series is created (I would love to see a modern TV series for Batman), but as far as these movies go I think and hope we end with a bang on this upcoming film.

By the way to all you who love ripping Jett.

He was right when he said Hardy was NOT going to play Hugo Strange and many of you chose not believe him. :oldrazz:

Ok I guess the other thread was closed too? I think it's best to keep BOF news out of this thread, that way Jett's name isn't brought up. The latest rumors are that Hugo Strange is in the film, and that it may be inspired by "Prey".

Discuss!
Wait, with the casting aren't those rumors debunked now? Are you saying you've heard new rumors that Hugo Strange will still be in the film alongside Bane and Selina? Please, let it be so! :wow:

This sounds more like a Bale comment. As far as I know, all Nolan's said about Robin is that he's still in diapers when these movies take place.

Initially, yes. That was when they were trying to distance themselves from the version of Batman that snapped necks and kicked people into acid. The comics have since taken a turn in the other direction, so Robin's involved in more adult stories like Death in the Family (where that version of Robin died, of course), Knightfall, Robin's Reckoning (on the animated series) etc. The claim that he isn't a character meant for mature stories is an argument that became irrelevant decades ago.

Once in a while, my broken clock reads the correct time. Doesn't mean I should believe it every time I look at it.

EDIT: Never mind the response to DaCrissaMan02 - thread confusion!

It's a continuation of the old thread people. The second post is simply the first post of the old thread with today's date on it, pay no attention to it. Hugo Strange is not rumored to be in the film anymore, Bane and Catwoman are still in the film.

While Robin is a great character, he was initially introduced to the series as a draw in for younger fans.

What I don't understand is why they ever thought introducing a child sidekick character would "draw in younger fans."

I mean, do kids ever fantasize about being Robin? No, they want to be Batman! That's who they play on the playground - nobody says "I call dibs on being Robin!"

You'd think marketing people would've realized this, even back then...

What about Riddler being in for sure? :oldrazz:

Why should anyone believe wild guesses that are often wrong?

But if you call dibs on Robin, that means that you can pick up a stick, pretend it's a staff and beat up the other kids. :awesome:

Haha, the idea was always that the other kids are heroes and the villains are invisible and imaginary!

Here's a question that's been bothering me...

Tom Hardy has lots of tattoos on his body, right? Is it easy to cover all that with makeup, in a way that doesn't LOOK like it's covered in makeup, even when topless with sweaty, rippling muscles?

Guys the 1st post in here was copied from the OLD thread, I made that comment back in November:
http://forums.superherohype.com/showpost.php?p=19255470&postcount=1

I updated my 1st post here to avoid any more confusion.
Sorry for the misunderstanding. By the way, based on what you know, would you still say there is any chance of the film having any influence from the Prey arc? The way you described your source made them sound pretty legit, so perhaps the casting of Tom Hardy was just a mistake on their part? Yeah, I know, I should let go, but I got very attatched to that rumor as I thought it fit TDK's ending perfectly  Is there anything left to hang on to with those still wishing for it to be partially true?

Ha, nice catch. Kind of a strange process, but yeah, you're right. :cwink:

CGI them off.
