What we fans have to realize though is that the more highbrow you try and make your movie, well, the chance is that you will lose some audience.

If the Avengers just goes fo rpure action over story, it may win the box office for the summer. Why? Because little kids and younger teens may prefer that to Nolan angst.

Unlikely considering the directors last film wasn't exactly kid friendly and made over $800 million at the box office. People will come.

Speaking of that, I was also surprised to see that TDKR did not make the top five list for most anticipated movies with women over at Fandango.

THat did surprise me, although I'd still take polls conducted well before the heavy marketing hit with a grain of salt.

At this point, I bet even Disney is surprised by how no one is responding to The Avengers. I say "responding", because in my personal experiences, I'll mention that movie to people I know (nerds), and they go, "Huh? What's Avengers?" And then I remind them and they go, "Oh. That's right." *shrugs* - It just seems incredibly generic. Plus, for a project that big and ambitious, they needed better people in charge of it. Plus, it feels like Iron Man 3. I don't know. I was expecting it to be one of my highlights of next year, and I'm debating whether I'll even see it in the theater.

There is some notable hype. It tracks well with EW and has over 300,000 fans on facebook (TDKR has over 250,000 fans and TASM is down somewhere like 115,000 fans). There is little doubt TDKR will win the summer box office, but The Avengers has a shot at $300 million domestic, I suspect.

TASM is the one that could really underperform. Nobody except the die hard Spidey fans who hated the Raimi films (i.e. a small fraction of a percentile of the audience of the last three movies) is really excited for what is essentially a remake of a ten year old Spidey origin film. I'm not saying it won't be better....it could be. There's room for improvement. But financially and creatively....doing the origin again just takes all the air out an already shaky reboot premise this soon.

If this trailer doesn't get people pumped up, I don't know what will!

It seems like the trailer shows most of the film, but the thing with Nolan
it just seems that way,but isnt so.

The trailer will definitly give the public much attention for this film.

I hope TDKR breaks Avatar's cinema record.

True.

However, I wonder if most women found TDK too depressing.

Also, do chicks not dig Bale?

I need to ask around.

TDK isnt that depressing, but TDKR seems to be much more depressing

it has that Blade Runner atmossphere at some scenes.

i'm not trying to start a war of words here, but it goes without saying that there is much more hype surrounding the trailer for the tdkr trailer (and the movie itself) than there was for the trailer for the avengers (and that movie itself), the latter containing several popular superheroes and the former containing only one.

Batman over everything.

+ 1,000,000.

the fire rises!

Most chicks definitely dig Bale, but the marketing hasn't pushed Selina/Hathaway much yet. When it does I expect female interest to rise. Pun intended.

I'm in that minority. I think it'll be much better than what Raimi did but I do think it'll suffer financial and critically....

That's true. She could put a number of female butts in seats.

Maybe why she was chosen. Recognizability factor.

Yeah, I don't think much should be taken in regards to who tops what list or who's Facebook page has more followers and what not.

Well, I think it surprised me because they already knew about The Hobbit. It made their top five. Yet no TDKR.

I think it was actually a brilliant stroke to start the trailer with the National Anthem, along with Alfred's heart felt words towards Bruce...

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the polls and such. Just based on the reception to the previous films, I think Rises and the Hobbit (groan) will be the biggest films of next year...

the last quality is good enough until monday.

now i only need HD for Wally's cinematography

Just noticed a bit more CG work is going to be needed on the stadium implosion shot. There's a ton of empty seats. No biggie.

I remember hearing the National Anthem and going from "" to ":awesome:" in the span of five seconds. At first I thought it was going to be corny as hell, but the way it's used in the trailer is surprisingly effective. Very creepy.

Perhaps the Gotham Rogues are like the Cincinnati Bengals:

They suck.

Come to think of it, that football field implosion might be the most overt use of CGI we've seen in the series yet. Which isn't saying much, granted.

Not an NFL fan so that reference is going to go right over my head.

That's a valid point assuming it was all CGI, maybe model work was involved.
