If I were in charge of the MCU reboot I'd have BOTH Erik and Chuck "Missing and Presumed Dead" for at least the first two installments.
Magneto yes, but Xavier is a founding cornerstone. Like Cyclops he must be in the film.

Disney is not going to lose much money on DP since they never spent much money on it aside from the last few bits of marketing. The deal closed after the reshoots had already been done and they never spent a dime on the first phases of production as they had control of Fox when the movie was nearing completion.

Now imagine if Disney never bought Fox and Fox remained its own separate entity then this would be a much dire situation.

Rebooting X-Men without Xavier is kinda like rebooting Lord Of The Rings without Gandalf or Harry Potter without Dumbledore.
I feel like they don't have to tell an origin movie again. In the comics it has more than 10 years that Xavier is not part of any X-Men team at all. I think since 2004 in the comics, Xavier is not part of the x-men. When he was alive before he died in 2012 in the Avengers vs X-Men seires, he used to visit the X-men at Utopia from time to time but he was no longer in charge and just a guest there. All the leadership went to Cyclops. Last year they brought Xavier back to life in the comics but he didn't interacted too much with other characters and kept as a secret to everyone that his back to life.

Is time for them to distance themselves to Xavier, Magneto, Mystique and Wolverine. Which by the way none of them were part of the x-men in the new volume of Uncanny X-Men released last year. They do appear in the series but not as X-Men (except Xavier which is still living in secret).

My point being, they could easily make a "Uncanny X-Men" movie without Mystique, Xavier, Magneto and Wolverine.

Did anyone read X-Men Red? It had none of these characters and it was amazing.

The team was: Jean Grey (team leader), Storm, Nightcrawler, X-23 called by the name "Wolverine" in memory of Logan, Honey Badger, Gentle, Trinary, Gambit and Namor.

^^ Worst than Origins? I don’t care much for First Class myself but I wouldn’t go that far. It’s at best a pseudo spy thriller with the X-Men thrown in the middle. Interestingly enough, the movie started off as a Magneto origin film before it evolved into a X-Men prequel film.

I still maintain that First Class should’ve been a hard reboot of the X-Men franchise. It was always a mistake to tie it to the previous X-Men films.
Yes man. In my opinion if I look to the flaws of Origins and the flaws of First Class, the flaws I hate the most are in First Class. So Origins is better then First Class. Both movies have huge flaws but I can accept some of the flaws of Origins better than the flaws in First Class.

Both Origins and First Class have good and bad moments too. But even if I decided to focus on the good of both movies, I still think Origins have plenty more good moments than First Class.

Both movies have many inaccuracies to the comics. I just think that the inaccuracies in Origins makes me as much mad as the ones in First Class.

This is incorrect. Part of the deal was that Disney will absorb all of Fox's debt and costs including those prior to close of the deal. This was outlined in the deal. Debt and loans do not go away once you purchase a company.

Disney is paying for this and I'm sure they are pissed.

Yeah. Disney have all the debt and costs for Dark Phoenix.

We can only hope that Disney does not think that the brand is toxic.

That could delay further the reboot.

But will they be pissed off enough to not let Kinberg handle the reshoots on New Mutants?

I can understand the need to omit Beast and Mystique but getting rid of Xavier is like starting a new Batman series without Alfred. Xavier is a central character to the formative years of the X-Men, you just don't do that.

Hard to have the X-Men without the fellow responsible for the 'X.'

I would keep Xavier for the first film at least. No need to repeat villains so drop Magneto and Mystique. Also Wolverine can be saved for a sequel and maybe a credit scene. That already would mean plenty of change.

Which us why the MCU X-Men film has to feel fresh and new in order to renew audience interest which makes me think we won't see Magneto for awhile(though they might set him up down the line for a third film).
I hope not. :csad:
