Rebranding is coming..at least for X Men movies.

X-Mutants or simply Mutants with "X" logo.

Nothing is wrong with the "X-Men" name.

Actually, not calling this "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" probably cost them more money. Most moviegoers don't know who or what is Dark Phoenix.
Incorrect. Most audiences don't know what a 'Dark Knight' was either but most knew it was a Batman movie and it was wildly successful. It didn't need to be called "Batman: The Dark Knight''. I assure you most audiences who were aware of Dark Phoenix knew it was an X-Men film.... they just didn't care.

The movie is called "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" EVERYWHERE, except in the USA.

.

The film is still called X-Men Dark Phoenix in international markets too (like here in the UK).

I'm talking specifically about the US. And you can't compare Batman to the X-Men. Batman is way more well known, popular, and recognizable than the X-Men.

I don't know about anyone else, but I had to explain to people that Dark Phoenix was an X-Men when brought up. Putting X-Men in front of the title could have brought in a few more millions.

Will it make a huge difference? Naw.

But why was Logan successful?(it outgrossed even Apocalypse ). No, the movie would still bomb even if it did have ‘X-Men’ in the title. I get you’re not saying it’s the only reason it didn’t bomb you’re just putting it out there as one of the potential contributing factors for the film’s failure but I don’t think it had any major impact one way or another.

Yes, Batman is more popular, but not everyone knows or knew he was called The Dark Knight.

I don't think the fact it didn't have X-Men in front of it ultimately made a difference in this case. If the film were good, then even without X-Men in front, it would've still done well. Equally, having X-Men in front but being this quality of film wouldn't have made it more successful.

James Bond films never have "James Bond" in front of any of the titles. People still know they are James Bond films though. Did they have to explain what "Skyfall" was?

I can understand the need to omit Beast and Mystique but getting rid of Xavier is like starting a new Batman series without Alfred. Xavier is a central character to the formative years of the X-Men, you just don't do that.
I take that you don't read the comics then? Xavier is not a main character in the X-Men since early 2004. He appears sometimes but he's not an important character there.

Like I said man, they don't have to tell an origin of the x-men movie. They don't. Xavier was important in the begin of x-men. But since Hope Summers was born Xavier started to disappear from the comics.

Hard to have the X-Men without the fellow responsible for the 'X.'
Read the comics then. Xavier is not part of the X-Men since 2004. Even Magneto was became a X-Men and had more to do with the stories than Xavier. When Magneto joined Utopia (home of the x-men) in early 2008, Xavier had gone away.

I do read comics and this is an apples and oranges comparison. You’re comparing a status quo that has been reached in the comics years after the Xavier has been a vital part of the story to a potential MCU reboot that’s introducing the Mutants for the first time in the MCU. Xavier has to be there as he’s the founder of the X-Men and provides context for the team’s existence and their role in the MCU. That isn’t to say you can’t make an X-Men film without the Xavier character but for the first X-Men film that’s introducing the team and further expanding upon the concept of Mutants in the MCU Professor X is too integral to the mythos to leave out.

If someone puts superglue in Cyclops's skull cap cowl, when he finally rips it off the X-Men will have another resident baldy to take the place of Xavier.

To summarize X-Men's popularity:

1. Superman
2. Batman
3. Spider-Man
4. Wolverine

20. Deadpool

100. Professor X

200. Magneto

1000. Some X-Men member.

Nobody but some very hardcore minority cares about X-Men. So, X-Men is doomed in every way unless Paige uses the same tactic to build lesser known characters first in order to form a superhero team film.

Only point I was making it is difficult to have the 'X' in 'X-Men' if you do not at least mention the founder of the team.

But do go on being assumptive and condescending. It's impressive seeing people feed off their emotions.

Just based on solo character pull, probably more like:

1. Batman
2. Spider-Man
3. Iron Man
4. Wonder Woman
5. The Joker

Wolverine is probably still top 10, but it's close with guys like Superman, Thor, Cap. Heck, Aquaman made how much on his own?

yeah, execs, fans and social networks overestimate Wolverine power.

its not like his movies made $800m each one. He is a fan favourite and the most popular x-men, yes, but he isn as beloved/popular as the other guys, and numbers just show it.

Black Panther and Captain Marvel have to be way up there now too.

No one knew who Guardians of the Galaxy was either. You don’t need name brand superheroes anymore. Just likeable characters and great marketing.

I was considering them, but honestly I don't know. While they have had big first movies, a lot of that is Marvel, and ties back to the Avengers, which really ties back to Iron Man. Superman has awful movies and somehow still make legit money. Aquaman is the one that is crazy. Not the best reviews, a series of movies that really should of meant it was going to perform more like Shazam, and then it set the world on fire.

The crazy staying power of characters like Batman, Spider-Man, Joker, etc. is pretty crazy. Also while Captain Marvel made more money then Wonder Woman, there is a high level of culture relevance to WW that is hard to quantify. Even with Captain Marvel's place in the Marvel flicks, it does feel like WW is the female superhero.

1. Spider-Man.
2. The others.
