DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Make the target Jimmy Olsen. He has unknowningly taken a photo that incriminates Bruno Manheim, who puts the bounty on Olsens head.
Jimmy saunters through the film unaware of all the master assassins trying to kill him because they keep sabotaging each other.
Eh...

If it were up to me, I'd do a Smokin' Aces style flick with a bunch of DC's best assassins. Bring in Deathstroke that way, along with Will's Deadshot, Bane, Lady Shiva, Talia, etc. Have them all going after the same hit.

As a twist, I'd have the hit be Matches Malone, whose name wouldn't be revealed in any marketing. Have audiences believe it to be the real Matches as the film unfolds, only for the end reveal to show it was indeed Bruce in disguise. Introduce the new DCEU Batman that way.

Hire Guy Ritchie to direct.

Just spitballing here, but could be a fun way to go about the whole thing. I'll write the damn thing myself.

better than a solo deadshot or deathstroke movie tbh.

Also nah Gunn suicide squad sounds great. The Squad shouldn't be filled to the brim with big characters imo. Deathstroke doesnt need to be in there. Deadshot(I know hes not in here), Boomerang and, Harley are enough. That being said I do wish Elba was bronze tiger.

Suicide Squad isn't supposed to be the Injustice Society, Legion Of Doom or Secret Six.

Stacking a roster with a bunch of disposable D list villains that killed on a mission is kind of the point of the brand.

We got a A-List villain with the Joker in the last movie and it was the most disliked live action version of the character we have ever seen.

Stick with the D-List villains and give them glorious or funny deaths

I want Elba to be Bronze Tiger as well. The rumor of him being Vigilante doesn't excite me. Not sure why Gunn would choose a generic gun totting anti-hero not closely associated with the team over a world class marital artist that was a member of the group.

Didn't realise that was a chair at first, thought we were getting a glimpse of a black leather suit

We've finally transitioned from this..

Whatever happened to that Spielberg Blackhawk movie??

Spielberg is busy, he will get time after he finishes the movie he is currently working on.

I completely forgot about that. Spielberg doing a CBM always felt like a longshot, but it would be cool to see.

I do wonder if DC has one big advantage over Marvel at this point, Marvel is owned by Disney, while DC is owned by Warner Bros and Warner Bros can make actual R-rated products. I am not sure Disney would not something like Joker or Watchmen. I kinda miss some of the R-rated Fox X-Men projects, like Logan, I think Deadpool is the only R-rated movies Disney will make with Marvel characters.

at this point, I would say marvel is viewed as tired, needing to change course, with a heavy eye on them from Disney with most characters done or established where as DC have a couple billion dollar hits and still fresh to explore.

Viewed as tired? Since when? Every movie still manages to go over a billion at the BO.

Yeah, BW is going to be a hit movie, irrespective of the story they're telling.

LOL, okayyyy bud. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Spielberg has wanted to make a Blackhawk movie since the early eighties.

I hope they keep it a period movie with a pulpy vibe like the Indiana Jones franchise rather than make it contemporary.

Aquaman made $1B in a 2018 release and Joker made $1B in a late 2019 release. In between those 2 movies, 2 MCU movies made over $1.1B and a 3rd one became the highest grossing movie of all time.

I don't expect BW or Eternals to be $1B movies, but if they don't, it doesn't spell doom for the MCU.

Yeah for sure. I don’t think you could really do Blackhawk in the present day.

For me personally - I feel it’s going to slow down... I feel like it’s entering a new era which doesn’t have the appeal... but happy to be wrong - I’m a casual fan of marvel.. not here to troll

To say that the GA is "tired", after Marvel's record breaking year even prior to their first movie seems very premature to say the least and again even if Black Widow or Eternals doesn't bring in the same amount of money of Captain Marvel or Far From Home, it won't be indicative of the general audience's disinterest in the MCU.
