In the grand scheme of things, the shared universe concept is very new. The vast majority of movies, including comic book movies, have been stand alone.

Yes we have the DC Animated Universe which started in the 90s and the Star Trek series which were connected; but with Iron Man and the MCU that is how the idea of a shared on screen universe of films became popular and others followed

I have retroactively decided that TDK trilogy was an utter waste of time as it didn’t matter for further projects after it concluded. Wish I’d have known at the time so I could have got some gardening done instead or returned some library books.

all the comic books i have read in the last 30+ years have been a waste of time because they do not connect to any of the superhero cinematic universes.

People have become so programmed by the Marvel formula that they just can't see any other way of doing it. This includes the people at WBD unfortunately.

I don't see it as the "Marvel formula". I see it as the DC comics formula.

Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman have been in the same universe long before the Fantastic Four, the Hulk and Spider-Man were a subconscious thought in Stan Lee's mind.

This. I don't want a cinematic universe just because. It's actually interesting and exciting to see these characters interact with each other.

I mean Bruce Timm was doing the "shared universe" with DC characters on TV animation when Marvel was just getting out of its 1990s bankruptcy. Its not a new concept that Marvel Studios invented out of thin air.

Because it doesn’t make sense to reboot some characters and not the others. All those characters are linked to the Snyderverse. It will confuse people to see a new rebooted Superman but other characters are the same as before? I’m not saying to get rid of the actors, they can be brought back in different roles.

General audiences and even geeks like us get confused by this sort of thing all the time, but that's rarely if ever a huge cause for concern. For instance, the newly rebooted Daredevil may not include previous cast members like Deborah Ann Wohl's Karen Page — and yes, that will be confusing for some, as they'll no doubt want to know what happened to them — but so what? That's what folks like us are here for: to fill in the blanks for family, friends and acquaintances who aren't in the know. But make no mistake — they won't give it a second thought once the credits start rolling. They just want to be entertained.

It's relatively recent in the grade scheme of things.

There are a generation of fans who've only known a shared cinematic for live action CBMs, and they think that's the best , and alot of times , only way to adapt those characters.

The GA is far more open to stand alone films since, they are attracted to these films because they are good and entertaining , as opposed to being overly concerned with every film being accountable to other films in a shared universe or to a larger plan, the way fandom does.

That's why films like Joker and The Batman do well despite the fact that they don't connected to a larger shared universe

Audiences want to have a good time, and while a shared universe can help , the films have to be good.

With Gunn re-doing Superman as young and in his early years, I'm thinking he may be moulding him to fit in with Pattinson's Batman. And then eventually he will be brought into the new DCU as the main and one and only Batman. Gunn may be denying this right now just so as to not **** off Reeves.

It is a shame. Johnson could’ve been a great Black Adam if he was playing off Zachary Levi’s Shazam. It could’ve been the goofy hero who has to grow up because he is faced with an extremely formidable opponent. It could’ve been a huge coming of age story for Billy Batson.

By now the only thing he could do to make this entire affair less embarrassing for him would be if he agreed to be the main bad guy in Shazam 3 provided they make one (which I still think they will. It wouldn't be part of the DCU, but they can afford to have 1 or 2 more movies in the old DCEU if they are sure of their success)

Tbh I think they'll just fast-track Reeves movies and re-introduce Batman to the DC universe once he's done with his trilogy. The Batman 2 in 2025, The Batman 3 in 2028, then Batman in the DCU.
