DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Nice to see this longtime rumor finally confirmed.

Wonder how Lobo will figure into the plot; I thought for the longest time he’d replace Krem but then he was cast too so the plot thickens…

I think there is a bounty hunter in the story that he could replace, but I could be misremembering.

Maybe Krem hires Lobo to try and take out Kara and Ruthye? That or he's one of the folks that recognizes Kara as Supergirl because they have beef with Superman.

Hey, that casting helped further redefine Aquaman's image beyond just that guy who talks to fishes- at least for the general audience. So, as far as Momoa as Arthur goes...

The last major comic book casting I get for the year is for a character I can barely care about but good for Jason Momoa, who’s a far better fit for the edgy trash talking space biker guy than the underwater dude who can talk to fish.

Well it looks like Superman and Peacemaker will start the DCU movie and television series for 2025. 2026 it appears to Supergirl and Lanterns. I wonder if Clayface will get a show within its release window. Waller maybe?

Nicholas Hoult is doing a convention appearance at MegaCon next month. Lots of Superman related talent there already!

Trying to manifest Corenswet and/or Broshanan to go there too.

With Luthor front and center in Superman and Sinestro in the mix on Lanterns, I wonder if a Legion of Doom sort of thing might ever be in the cards.

There’s no telling what might come of Secret Wars with Doom and all, but a full-scale villain team-up is certainly something the MCU hasn’t beaten them to yet (Thunderbolts is a Suicide Squad through and through).

Some VERY interesting tidbits in here:

Quick summary:

- Projects on the backburner: Waller ("it has been a bumpy road"), Booster Gold (still needs a showrunner), and The Authority ("has had a harder time coming along. Hasn't been much of a priority")
- 6 year plan with an Avengers Endgame-like culmination
- The Batman Part II script still isn't done
- No plans for a Penguin Season 2 right now
- Developing The Brave and the Bold WITHOUT Andy. He'll get the first look at the script, but Gunn is working very closely with the writer
- Each production isn't required viewing, but there will be special things in there for people for watch everything
- Studio is writer driven. If the script isn't there, a project won't go ahead
- Aiming for 2 live action films and 1 animated movie per year
- Aiming for 2 live action and 2 animated series for Max per year
- Willing to pivot from plans if something comes up, but they know where the larger story is heading

I think the Authority is meant to be a counterpoint to heroes like Superman and Batman. They have a very specific role within the DCU. I think that is why the development of it is on the back-burner. They don't have a DCU Batman established yet, and Superman hasn't come out yet. I think Gunn wants to have the "traditional" superheroes like Batman, Superman, the Green Lanterns (and maybe Wonder Woman at some point?) and the darker, grittier get their hands filthy anti-heroes as a contrast, and have those two things conflict. But you need to have the foundation set up first.

That tells me Andy Muschietti won’t be directing Batman. I think Gunn will direct it as his next movie.

The more we hear, the more I’m inclined to believe Andy will choose not to direct. Whether it’s actually his choice or not, who knows, but it certainly feels like it’s heading towards uh “scheduling conflicts”…

I'm surprised they haven't already officially taken him off Batman after seeing how The Flash turned out.

1.) He did the best he could with what he had.
2.) The major problem with that movie was Miller. Double Miller to be exact.
3.) He played the ''good soldier'' for WB during post-production and promotion.
4.) They wanted to keep him sweet for the upcoming ''Welcome to Derry'' show.

He's still an asset. No need to embarrass him. It will definitely segue into ''scheduling conflicts'' territory soon enough.

“He has yet to turn in a full script but what we’ve read so far is incredibly encouraging”

Huh?

Sounds like they don’t want to take any attention away from Superman. Nothing earth shattering. Batman and Wonder Woman projects will get more attention after Superman is released.
