DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Oh Lord, that doesn't sound good.
What @emc5466 doesn't tell you is that the article is about the Mike DeLuca and Pam Abdy's slate of costly and risky movies (Mickey 17, One Battle After the Other, Sinners) and only mentions DC Studios - as a separate subsdiary - when tackling the firing of WB's head of marketing (which James Gunn and Peter Safran have also addressed in the latest presser).

Not once is it mentioned that "Zaslav is worried about the entire 2025 slate" including Superman, or something in that vein.

I would be utterly shocked if Sinners ends up tanking. Everything about that film seems to scream “must see in a theater.”

Outside of Superman, it is easily my second highest anticipated film of 2025.

You tell me. They already admitted they are struggling to figure it out. Clearly they didn't think the idea through very well.
I repeat, what makes you think that Checkmate wouldn't be involved in the Waller series?

Why reply to something I haven't said? I've never denied that they haven't been struggling with writing the series?

The ****!!?

Thanks for the clarification.

The show is called Waller. Not Checkmate.

Of course Zaslav is concerned about a slate of movies that actually look cool and interesting. Set into motion before he fully transformed WB into an IP mill.

You literally just posted this news lol
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like audiences are responding to original studio fare.

I wish they'd prove me wrong and flock into theaters for Mickey 17.

Then again, sometimes it seems like major studios don't really know quite how to marketing original movies anymore.

They kinda throw 'em away, when instead they should be hyping them up as event movies just as much as they do with their IP fare.

Look at what NEON did with Longlegs.

So let's all gather friends and family and hype them up about Mickey 17, One Battle After Another and more.

Of course they did, because they already heard from “famously reliable” scooper Jeff Sneider, who totally doesn’t have any bias and throw tantrums when people call him out, saying Superman got bad buzz and posting what actually is in the article would contradict that info. :whatever:

To be fair, IIRC last time Jeff Sneider mentioned Superman, he said he had heard that the movie has got a great message, and that it was likely going to be a hit in the summer.

Except about a couple months ago on John Rocha’s show he specifically said…
"Superman Buzz is not good. I'm hearing bad things. I'm hearing 'you should be worried things"
…so he’s already contradicting himself.

A lot of the time he’s just full of s**t and stirs the pot so he can get clicks and attention for revenue. Maybe Sneider was reputable at one point, but besides a few instances, he just says things to create drama.

I wouldn’t trust him as far as I could throw him, and I don’t know why emc5466 keeps relying on him as a source.

Sneider is worth paying attention to because he is super connected, regularly correct etc.

He is, however, also a massive tool with huge biases who absolutely uses his platform in extremely petty ways. So big old grain of salt.

And a massive ego.

But yeah, I agree that he's worth paying attention to with the right amount of "grain o' salt."

And I must say, compared to John Rocha's utterly insane and childish nerd rambling I find him to be the entertaining and reasonable one on their live show.

You're braver than me, I could never actually watch them :funny: and I'm someone who watches noted maniac Campea for laughs.

Yeah , I remember that. Just saying that the last he's heard about the movie seems to be on the positive side.

I sometimes tune in to see Sneider take the piss out of Rocha and roll his eyes at the stuff he says.

It's good for the soul when overly emotional and dramatic nerd talk from adult people gets made fun of.

I don't know how people like him and Campea get through life without shame.

The money's probably worth it.
