I don't think the average movie-goer has any idea about the future of DC universe starting in 2025 or whatever while watching these 2023 movies.

Anyways, reboot or not, I always thought these films were gonna do poorly.

I can definitely see Gunn keeping those actors but their histories from the previous continuity in the new universe are slightly adjusted/altered to fit in with the new DCU, or they just play new versions. Either way, I’d be quite surprised to see him throw away Cena and Robbie for the sake of a reboot.

This mindset that a movie can’t be good if it doesn’t lead to something else is an unfortunate side effect of Marvel’s success. If Shazam 2 looks to be as good and fun as the first, I’ll see it. It just means no post credit scene teases. But a movie that needs to lean on future promises isn’t a movie worth seeing.
