DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

I know people want to move on from it but nothing screams superman like the Williams theme.
It's as much part of superman as the indy theme is to Indiana Jones,
or the star Wars opening theme is to SW,
or the jaws beat is to jaws.

So he gets star labs to help him make his 2nd suit from clothing that was in his crashed ship.

I really enjoy this interpretation of the suit. Especially the shorter cape on a younger Supes. I wouldn't mind if they took a cue from the super pets design and did gold gauntlets, but maybe smaller like in the Rebirth design.

I think Legion of Superheroes would work really nicely with Gunn’s style.

100% agree. It's now as much a part of Superman as the cape, the S and the spit curl.

They should however rescore it somewhat, to give it a more modern sound. Would always have loved to hear what twist Zimmer could have put on it.

gonna be blasphemous here, and admit that i prefer shirley walker's superman and batman themes over william's / elfman's themes.

always.

I don't need the Batfamily introduced right from the jump.

And I still ultimately think they are going to bring Pattinson in. I definitely don't see them rehashing the SnyderVerse with a Ben Affleck ish older Batman hanging out with a new Superman.
A 30 year old Bruce could easily have a 15-16 year old Dick Grayson fighting alongside him.

Well they could always simply not date the timeline specificly.
No Solid age or date numbers, leaving these things open.
Like i dont really need to know the age of batman, He could be 30,younger,older...not being specific with it, makes it imo easier to Do such things then.

I watched Shazam! for the first time tonight. Didn't realise till the end that Dwayne Johnson managed to get himself an exec producer credit for it.

I’ve been watching the incredible Fleischer cartoons and I’d love to see a live action Superman that takes some influence from them.

Also, Grant Morrison’s New 52 Action Comics run similarly takes the character back to his Golden Age roots, and it’s one of the best Superman runs ever. I’d definitely like to see that run as inspiration for the new iteration.

You never know, you might still get the chance. Though being honest I thought Zimmer’s remake of the Thunderbirds theme wasn’t very good.

One of the great things that Snyder did was get rid of the spit curl. I hope they give this next Superman a similarly human and normal haircut.

And get rid of the muscle suits. They’re dumb and not fooling anybody.

Getting Superman’s character (a nerdy, awkward boyscout who can’t fit it) is really important.

I truly don’t know how they are going to beat Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. She really filled the role in a way that left a lot of impressions on kids, I think.

Buddy cop drama series with the Green Lantern Force - yes.

Recasting Superman and Wonder Woman are going to be the biggest challenges in terms of casting new characters.

Alot of fans seem to think it's easy just to reboot Wonder Woman , find another actress who will capture the public's imagination, and create a film which will be embraced by The GA, critics, and fans.

It took decades to even get the Wonder Woman we have now on the big screen.

It's not as if we've had several actresses ala Bond , Batman , and Superman , play Wonder Woman in live action on TV and Film over several decades.

We had Cathy Crosby in a one shot and Lynda Carter in the 70s, then Gal Gadot 40 odd years later.

WW 2017 was the first theatrical film of a character who's been around since the 1940s.

As I've said before, it's possible they'll find an actress who can knock it out of the park , but it's going to be a challenge , it's not going to be easy by any means.

Alternate casting choices

Bruce Wayne/Batman- Richard Madden
Clark Kent/Kal El/Superman- Jacob Elordi
Diana Prince/Wonder Woman- Eiza Gonzalez
Arthur Curry/Aquaman- Alexander Ludwig
Barry Allen/The Flash- Jack Quaid
Victor Stone/Cyborg- Jeremy Pope
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow- Scott Eastwood
Dinah Lance/Black Canary- Vanessa Kirby

Martian Manhunter- David Oyelowo

Hal Jordan/Green Lantern- Glen Powell
John Stewart/Green Lantern- John David Washington

The Atom/Ryan Choi- John Cho

Do you think they gonna put WW as a priority for the new Universe of DCU or we'll need another 40 years for the next WW?
Do you think they may consider replacing Wonder Woman for a different Superheroine for the JL and the DCU. Someone Gunn might feel more comfortable with for the kind of heroes he prefers?
