DC Films The DC Studios News and Discussion Thread

Yep, looks that way. Great to see any hints of a future DCU Wonder Woman (one of my overall favourite comic characters). Also not a whole lot of competition when it comes to the WW villain stakes. :D :csad:
We all love Wonder Woman but she seems best in a Justice League type movie even though Wonder Woman was a very good movie. For once I would love to see a movie with Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman as the only heroes.

I love WW in JL or as part of just the Trinity, but she can be a great solo character too. The first film was a good foundation on which I thought they would start showing the best of the character and her world, but it feels like they lost their way and then had the rug pulled on any future attempts.

Btw careful on that, it sounds a bit like BvS. :funny:

She does not. They're all great in an ensemble but she can stand on her own as well as Superman or any of the other JL members. I actually think the Trinity is inherently less interesting than a broader and more diverse team.

I would have loved for the second movie to be Diana’s return Paradise Island and have a civil war that she would have had to stop. I think it would have worked. WB totally underutilized in the Amazons.

I don't particularly want them to fight each other, but I would have wanted the Amazons to be involved prominently in sequels. Whether Diana's exiled or not, I don't mind if that gets explained away, they're too good to ignore. I'm not too into the World War I setting and by contrast absolutely love all the mythological aspects of WW and the Amazons and Themsyscira. The more of that I see the better, however they want to twist the story to make it happen, maybe Themyscira coming under serious attack (probably silly if that keeps getting repeated though).

Wonder Woman is just as great a solo character as Batman or Superman and she deserves a solo franchise just as much as them.

And I still love both of Patty's WW movies, but I'm very ready for a new WW.

Might be a hot take, but I'd argue NONE of the main JL are better in group stories. I feel like that's a cop out that people tend to jump to for the characters they simply don't care as much about. I might say it about The Flash, for example, my personal least-favorite League-r, but I know for a fact that both Barry and Wally have plenty of fans of their solo adventures. While some characters shine more in the group books than others, depending on their dynamics with the rest of the group, I'd still argue the group books almost never serve the characters better than their own stories, imo.

That is the problem with Wonder Woman, her villains suck for the most part. I actually liked the concept of Darksied’s daughter being half Amazon and the storyline when she turned the Amazons into perademons. Maybe they should have had a child replace Diana when she left for man’s world and when she comes back a new evil Diana has the Amazon’s favor. Does not have to be Grail, but a character with her characteristics.

I hear you but I really loved the Trinity comic books. The relationship between Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman was tremendous. I actually was hoping that was going to be Snyder’s plan when he decided to bring Wonder Woman to BVS. Alas I was disappointed.

I just watched Blue Beetle and thought it was harmless fun. I do like Xolo as Jaime Reyes. I hope to see him and that cool suit in the future. Idk if they will ever do a big story with "The Reach" invading Earth or some planet, but that would be fun. Doesn't seem like the movie really built any traction around here though lol. That forum is deeeeadddd.

In Blue Beetle's defense, it was in sort of an awkward position of 'Is it DCEU or is it DCU?' and when you come off looking like a derivative of Ant-Man of all films, there's a problem. I liked Blue Beetle, even though the general audience's attitude towards DC films, and maybe any other comic book film that wasn't Guardians 3 or Spider-Verse, has been pretty low.

The film is harmless. It's not bad, not great, doesn't reinvent the wheel and is an odd pick to go with, but the cast itself is great. But because it doesn't have anything novel to it, that might be why it didn't really have those legs. At the very least it's nice to know that Xolo will still be around.

I enjoyed Blue Beetle too. Totally fine with Xolo/Jaime & his story being a part of the new DCU.

For a sequel, Jamie Reyes and Jenny Kord should team up with Gunn’s new Justice League International characters (Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, and whoever else) when Ted Kord returns from the future (with Booster Gold & Skreet) to fight off a Reach invasion.

To be honest, I don't know how anyone can claim to love Wonder Woman while having this mentality. But to each their own.

All I know is, Wonder Woman definitely didn't become the most iconic superheroine of all time based off her Justice League appearances.

I do think that you need to surround Gal Gadot with charismatic actors, but the character could easily carry a franchise. Wonder Woman 1984 was a miss, unfortunately— I would have liked to see Gadot/Jenkins leave on a higher note.

I enjoyed WW84 but there were certainly faults. It is a shame it seems that will be the one they go out on.

I'm genuinely shocked that people don't think Wonder Woman can carry a franchise. She's got a good 5-6 villains to adapt over a trilogy, serviceable supporting characters, beautiful backdrop in Themiscyra. She just needs a Powerhouse actress and good creatives attached.

He has quite the broad range in terms of his work.
I was at first worried that this could point towards more grounded again, but he wrote Star Trek nemesis, Sweeney Todd,rango...so i wouldnt be against it.

Im not...look at how DC fumbled the bag after the first WW made this much money.
They didnt promote her more or anything.
So im not shocked at all.

For some reason WB/DC undervalue Wonder Woman so hard.
Even Gal Gadot could have carried WW far higher if WB/DC would have strapped a rocket on her back.
But for some reason they didnt do that.

You got all the right Tools for it, just gotta need to use them.

Penny Dreadful is one of my favorite shows ever. I’m hyped now, and hope they go with a diff director

I like Wonder Woman with Superman and Batman in her storylines. So yes I love Wonder Woman. She is the best female superhero.

So “the best female superhero” doesn’t warrant her own stories to you?

I want Wonder Woman to have her own movie just like Supes and Batman but I want a proper Trinity movie that I was hoping BVS would have given us. The relationship between the Big 3 is the heart of any future Justice league movie.

Warner Bros Discovery stock is down 20% today. They’re finished.

The Trinity is really boring compared to the League as a whole. Not big enough for a proper, complex group dynamic.
