The Election Night Thread - Part 2

I posted a bit earlier about a reputable firm based in London called Cambridge Analytica --they did a tremendous amount of work in masterminding the Trumps campaign and analysing target demo. Their key point is that populist messages will always work better. Last year, I said that Trump had about much chance of becoming president as Clinton, if he won the Republican primary. I based this reasoning on the capacity of USA populace to be uninformed in much the same way as they did with the election of GW Bush in 2000. I also saw danger when Clinton fell back to the old cliched Third Way, safe message, and Sanders' populist movement cut off at knees.

Donald Trump said: "I'll Make America Great Again!"

Most people took that to mean America great for White (Male) People Again, however Trump also said things like the Establishment had shipped all of their good-paying jobs overseas and that he, as President, would be bringing them back, said, "Believe me!"

The rust-belt people who had lost their way of life when their jobs went overseas after corp found the labor price was lower there. They believed Trump because they wanted their way of life back. They were hoodwinked into believing in these stuffs --stuffs that will not happened because the corp will not be bringing back these jobs. Clinton lost heavily in these rust-belt sections of USA.

When no jobs became forthcoming in the first year of Trump presidency, there will be some sort of backlash in the rust-belt. Much bigger than the Tea Party. And it'll be more like Krystalnacht (The Night of the Broken Glass) in 1938 Germany.

Good luck with that. All that economic protectionism is going to bring is trade tariffs which will bring inflation which will mean you will be poorer than you were before. People in the UK are starting to realize this post-Brexit with certain items going up in cost and we have not even triggered article 50 yet.

Trump called for a 45 percent tariff on all imports from China. This is where running a country like a business is a bad idea. You do not want to start trade wars. Growth in the World economy could go into serious decline and start another economic depression.

As I mentioned before I knew someone who spoken with the people from Cambridge Analytica who did some job for Trump, incidentally was also the same company that did BREXIT analyis:

A British firm which helped deliver Brexit is working for Donald Trump's campaign:
http://uk.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-brexit-us-presidential-election-2016-9

Trump's campaign has already paid at least £193,000 ($250,000) to London-based company Cambridge Analytica, according to the Times newspaper.
In return, the business tycoon's campaign will receive help from six data scientists, who will use "psychographic analysis" to target adverts according to voters' personal values.
In practice, this means the firm will collect information about individual US voters from sources like their Facebook likes and spending habits, and tailor adverts for them based on their personalities. Alexander Nix, a former Etonian and financial analyst who heads the company, has vowed to "revolutionise the political landscape".

The US has seen it's wealth leave this country for decades now. Inflation always exists, it's a phenomenon economists do not understand. The trade deals are very interesting and Trump has been correct in saying that the US has been on the wrong end of many of these trade deals. For a country that has sat at the top, it certainly has no problem getting fleeced by it's allies. I'm more intrigued than scared to see where we go from here regarding trade. I'm not too worried because the rest of the world still depends on American buying power.

Youre wasting your time.

Anyone who tries to equate Hilary's corruptness (which of course is bad but is par of the course for a politician) to Trump's open xenophobia, sexism, hate rhetoric is...I can't say without getting banned

You complain and b***h about corruptness and then then you support Trump or wasted your vote on Jill Stein or Gary Johnson? Get out of here. Get all the way the f*** outta here. Im also 99% sure the people who go on about how bad of Clinton is couldn't tell me why without going to Google or just saying something about emails

This x1000. People are dumb. They voted with emotion and a disturbing amount of prejudice in their hearts. So sad.

The other side, however, did the same exact thing....

The Obama Coalition, we found out last night is not a coalition without Obama. The black vote simply was not there in the numbers that it was for Obama....we've seen this, we saw it in 2010, and 2014...why they didn't realize that and shore up that vote in the "blue wall states" is something for analysts to discuss for years....but the black vote simply was not there....and Sanders followers were not there, they didn't vote for Trump, they simply did not vote. (How is that proven? easy.....Republicans still hold a solid majority in the House, and majority in the Senate. Had those demographics I mentioned before voted...the Republicans would still have a majority in the House, but with about 13+ fewer seats, and the Senate would be tied, or 1 seat to the Democrats at the least....but when you don't vote at all, the down ballot suffers as well.) Again, in those same states, you had union workers (white union workers) that have voted Democrat in every election before this one, making those states solidly blue, but somehow in the last 2 weeks of this election, you had Trump actually staying on point and hitting those particular states hard with "your jobs that you had, are now overseas"...which is not altogether wrong. NOW, YES.....you take those two things and couple it with a rural, white vote that has NEVER VOTED BEFORE (which is why they were not counted in polls) came out for Trump, not in magnificently HUGE NUMBERS, but enough that coupled with what I stated above was "just enough" in those "Blue Wall States" of the rust belt to turn to Trump in the end.

BUT, IF ALL WE THINK IS THAT Trump won because of racism and hate, then we will see another Trump victory in 2020. AND, you will see more seats in the House and Senate lost in 2018.

DO NOT fall into a pattern of when Republicans win it is because of hate and racism....if you do, you have learned nothing from this race where pundits, polls, newspapers, radio, tv all said Clinton would win. Nothing will have been learned....nothing.
I have warned ever since Trump won the Republican candidacy about dismissing those voters like what I mentioned above that were angry, felt their voices were not being heard, and had lost their jobs.....and what I got from a few here was F**K them, they don't deserve a seat at the table.......well congratulations, they now own the not just the dining room table, but the entire house. Wow....

I actually had an argument with someone regarding protectionism & trade tariffs if BREXIT happened --I told him that the cost of living is going to rise in spite of stagnated wage. tsk tsk

They both might end up with less votes than Romney.

So...

Donald Trump's President, huh?

Who'll be next?

Jared Fogle?

#BillCosby2020

but seriously, my gf was like "what would it take, would he have to literally rape hillary live at the debate to not get elected?"
and even then, my feeling is he probably still would

tbh, I'm happy to be "out of touch" with a bunch of sexist/racist/xenophobic s**theads

Miami Cubans - "Democrats don't care about refugees! Also, screw non-Cuban refugees"

Jeez. I didn't sleep at all last night. I feel a numbness in my stomach. I'm getting through the stages of grief pretty quickly. Pretty sure I'm at depression right now so acceptance will follow.

I don't know. I'm scared. I actually feel unwanted in this country now.

I texted my family telling them I loved them. Am I overreacting? I don't even know why I posted this.

You're not overreacting.

No one knows how moderate or extreme Trump will be.

But you should hope for the best. Only worry about things you can change.

I know it's not my country. But this feels like after a break-up. What happened? Where did it all go wrong. What can be done to go back in time and fix it.

She got screwed by geography (electoral college). Most people will have voted for her (currently ahead in the popular vote) but it wasn't broad enough.

Yes, to an extent, but if the democrat votes (those that did not show at the poll) that many thought she would get, but didn't is, in the end, what did her in. :(

On the plus side, Trump could just go back to being the Dem reasonable dude from a few years back. He has a horrible track record with keeping his word so why would campaign promises be any different?

I may have gone a little too Godwin, however, I suspected that not many of you read/listen to Hitler's speeches. I did many years ago, mainly because my father was a Philosophy graduate and he owned lot of collected speeches by politicians.

Here, have a lovely read --

That would be hilarious.

Bill Maher was right, this really is a stupid country.

Yep.....too stupid to VOTE, like they have voted for decades. '

Many Trump supporters are just ignorant, but those that voted in both elections in 2008 and 2012, but were "********" so they sat this one out....THEY ARE THE STUPID ONES. THAT...is who I am pissed at right now.

And lazy to boot. The 'educated' ones did not all bother to get off their ass.
