The Election Night Thread - Part 2

The other side, however, did the same exact thing....

The Obama Coalition, we found out last night is not a coalition without Obama. The black vote simply was not there in the numbers that it was for Obama....we've seen this, we saw it in 2010, and 2014...why they didn't realize that and shore up that vote in the "blue wall states" is something for analysts to discuss for years....but the black vote simply was not there....and Sanders followers were not there, they didn't vote for Trump, they simply did not vote. (How is that proven? easy.....Republicans still hold a solid majority in the House, and majority in the Senate. Had those demographics I mentioned before voted...the Republicans would still have a majority in the House, but with about 13+ fewer seats, and the Senate would be tied, or 1 seat to the Democrats at the least....but when you don't vote at all, the down ballot suffers as well.) Again, in those same states, you had union workers (white union workers) that have voted Democrat in every election before this one, making those states solidly blue, but somehow in the last 2 weeks of this election, you had Trump actually staying on point and hitting those particular states hard with "your jobs that you had, are now overseas"...which is not altogether wrong. NOW, YES.....you take those two things and couple it with a rural, white vote that has NEVER VOTED BEFORE (which is why they were not counted in polls) came out for Trump, not in magnificently HUGE NUMBERS, but enough that coupled with what I stated above was "just enough" in those "Blue Wall States" of the rust belt to turn to Trump in the end.

BUT, IF ALL WE THINK IS THAT Trump won because of racism and hate, then we will see another Trump victory in 2020. AND, you will see more seats in the House and Senate lost in 2018.

DO NOT fall into a pattern of when Republicans win it is because of hate and racism....if you do, you have learned nothing from this race where pundits, polls, newspapers, radio, tv all said Clinton would win. Nothing will have been learned....nothing.
I have warned ever since Trump won the Republican candidacy about dismissing those voters like what I mentioned above that were angry, felt their voices were not being heard, and had lost their jobs.....and what I got from a few here was F**K them, they don't deserve a seat at the table.......well congratulations, they now own the not just the dining room table, but the entire house. Wow....

I don't think you've ever understood the criticism of those citizens and that no one was dismissing them as people but dismissive of their views on a variety of issues as well as their judgment and the fact that while they have legitimate difficulties and grievances those seem to be woven with conspiracy theories, unearned resentment and a hypocritical stance , and given the results...

They both might end up with less votes than Romney.

And they both deserve that....

Republicans too ****ing blind and ignorant to see what they voted for...

Democrats too ****ing ******** and lazy to get off their asses and vote...

I think we are getting crazy with the Hitler talk.

Many of the so called educated voters bought the media's falsely equivalent "they are both bad" rhetoric hook, line and sinker.

I personally know many of my engineer colleagues, smart dudes, whining about how they're both 'as bad as each other'.

Well I hope they are happy now.

Watch this.

Makes you feel better.

They wouldn't have been happy either way. That's the point. I think a big segment of the educated voters didn't feel like playing the two-party game where they would basically have been forced to vote for someone they don't even agree with. I wouldn't call that lazy, just idealistic. Whether that's a good thing is up for the individual to decide.

Obama is about to speak now, right?

I think we are getting crazy with the Hitler talk.

I'm not going to say Trump is going to commit a world war or a Holocaust, but anyone with basic knowledge of history knows it's just an objective fact that a lot of the same people who flock to Trump rallies would be flocking to Nazi rallies if they were in Germany in the 1920s-1930s.

Obama must be so relieved to finally be stepping down. I know I would.

Dude's hair is grayer than a mother****er now. He's tired.

Obama must be so relieved to finally be stepping down. I know I would.

He was relieved when he thought Hillary was taking over
now he's s**ting his pants like the rest of us

His entire legacy is about to be dismantled

With all due respect...you have no clue what you are talking about in regards to what I do or do not know or understand.

I was indeed crazy about Hitler talk. But Trump's stump speeches weren't that different from Hitler.

The difference will be the implementation of the policy. Wouldn't necessarily be the same policy as the Nazi implemented. Trump doesn't see eye-to-eye with the establishment Republican. He'll be likely a puppet of Mike McConnell and Paul Ryan, with Pence assisting.

Some people have short memory -- Bush, or more specifically Cheney cleaned out most of the Federal appointments and filled the most important posts with neoconservatives lick-spittlers. Some of them still remain embed especially in agencies like the CIA, FBI, and NSA. They were inching for a war in Iraq, or more specifically grabbing oil assets for their companies --happily 9/11 was a godsend & justification for them. Black sites, tortures, Guantanamo and Iraq prisons, etc grew in size & scope. Bush was also responsible for the appointments of incompetent people --see Hurricane Katrina & FEMA fckup by his friend Brown and Paul Bremmer as a glorified Governor of Iraq where USD $billions disappeared into thin air. Not to mention, by 2008 the worst economic crisis since Great Depression of the 1930s.

Do not think for one moment that the current Republican will be soft in House and to a lesser extent in the Senate. They'll be hostage to the crazy Freedom Caucus in House. Very likely we'll see one of the biggest economic stagflation in the world.

To see everything he has worked on be undone by a Twitter troll.

He knows the nature of politics and what will inevitably happen. I think spending more time with his family and unwinding a bit is more important to him right now.

I can't read his mind, though.

I'm just glad this whole election thing is over.

very nerve wracking and anxiety driven day yesterday.

my anxiety is SOO much higher today than before the election

I was up until 3 last night and then I could barely sleep. I just feel depressed right now.

I haven't slept since yesterday morning. It's raining in New York. You can see the look on everyone's faces, like we're all attending the same funeral.
