That's something that I've heard said a lot on the Quiver podcast. Their feelings were that the writers were no longer writing to tell a good story, but rather writing for the Variety or Entertainment Weekly article that would show up the next morning. The writers are clearly not that invested in telling a well thought out story anymore and rather just want the shock factor to get the audience talking.
I'm curious, what do you consider the start of Olicity?Lols. Oh crap....just saw the start of olicity. Lols

It sucks that the cast have this mentality that their characters stories aren't/can't be explored properly because they aren't the main character. That shouldn't hold the writers back from telling their stories just as well as they would Olivers.
Haha! It's the first moment she appears in the series behind that tech desk and they meet.![]()

Well I thought Olicity became a full-on thing when they had sex on R'as al Ghul's bed, which was one of the worst scenes ever in the entire show. It was like something out of a horrible daytime soap and it went on for far too long. It was totally cringeworthy.
Well, yes, that was terrible. But even through all of S3 they were pining for each other and it became so annoying. That's when Felicity stopped being her happy-go-lucky, quirky, hilarious self and became a downer who shut the lights out on Diggle and Roy because they wanted to continue in Oliver's name and she was depressed that he died. And she cried in every single episode.
You see, I don't think Olicity started in season 2, at least, not on the show. I remember hearing about it and thinking it was some typical fandom shipping BS and didn't pay too much mind to it. That fake out in the finale felt like a tease as well. There was chemistry, yes. But it looked like Felicity was a much better match for Barry when he showed up.See, the thing is, in S2, I think Olicity is really cute. It's not over-the-top and it's only in a few episodes. There was chemistry, their actual feelings for each other were usually subtle and not stated outright, and when they finally were, it was in the season finale. And even then, it was cute, not in-your-face. It only got really bad in S3. Even in the first episode, when Oliver and Felicity went out on their first date, wouldn't have been so bad if, at the end, Felicity hadn't said "This is the end of it" only to proceed to pine for Oliver in every single episode afterward. They bungled it, that's the long and short of it. If it had been handled properly, Olicity could've been cute. Instead, it's become the focus of the show, it's badly written, and it's just plain annoying.![]()

You see, a lot of people say that Oliver was telling the truth there, but I never saw it. I thought it was clear that they were putting on an act to outsmart Slade.Uh the last episode of season 2...when oli says I love you.. lols.
I wasn't feeling it...
If I were The Arrow I'd be putting the moves on Nyssa. ....don't care that her father hates me...lols. I love how they spar. Hell yas.

In all honesty, I don't see how someone like Oliver could fall for Felicity as hard as he does. I can definitely see her pining after him, but the way it turned out makes no sense to me personally.
