So Box Office wise if this fails. Then Chuck Norris gets the blame ?
oh hoho

Well this is pretty lame and has unfortunately killed any desire I had to see this at the theater. If I want to see a watered-down action flick I'll have dozens to choose from, however if I want to see a badass homage to classic action I guess I'm **** outta luck.

Sorry Sly, you should have stuck to your guns instead of letting the marketing a-holes make the decisions.:down

Agreed, there are countless action movies out there that have this rating and will be better movies than Expendables 2 is, so I may as well go and watch them instead.

And if it succeeds and makes more money?

Its bound to make more with this rating, although I think with the rating it will lose many fans of the first movie, me included.

Stallone confirmed the PG-13. I'm honestly surprised, but I don't really mind.

I'm not saying this is going to effect the quality of the film and the sudden shift in rating means it will suck, but the whole point of the first was a throwback to the action flicks of the 80's which were R. It doesn't help the first film was rated R. And the fact it's changed for the sake of a larger market makes me even more disappointed. I like the fact we can still have an R rated balls out action film these days. It's why I liked the first film. Now it has the risk of becoming the usual PG-13 films. .

Here's the main problem: It's contradictory.

And another thing. Part of my enjoyment of the first film was the R rated action that you could only do R Rated. I mean that neck snap back? Crews' gun frenzy? All great R Rated action that you can't get away with in a PG-13. And with this rating, it will lessen some of that action to what it was intended to be. I take issue with that.

After the reaction to live free and die hard why would they go this route? It's really dumb i'm sure they'd love to go after the teen/tween demo but the average age of this film's cast is about 60, nobody under 18 is gonna care much about this film.

Because the movie was the most successful in the franchise and despite net fanboys obsessed with the word **** and blood the movie was better received than most action films these days.

By the way, I think the Chuck Norris stuff is an excuse. Chances are the studio wants a PG-13 rating and this is the easy way to pass the blame.

Yeah I am surprised so many really believe Norris is that powerful, he was never really a big star to begin with and Sly and the studio wouldn't alter the movie rating just to get him in, not when the three biggest action icons ever are finally side by side. This is purely a financial move by the studio.

Question. What if it is a better film? Are people going to still complain about the rating?

Sly should and will get all the blame IMO. Norris didnt force anyone.

if they think that Norris is more important then R rating then they are crazy.

for the love of god Van Damme is in this f.. movie.

and what if Paris Hilton will get an oscar in 30 years? who the f.......... cares.

Expendable was brainless 80's action fun. how can an PG13 80's action movie be a better movie?

Here is the thing. I found the first to be terrible. Not fun in the least bit. Long moments of contemplation mixed with average, prolonged and boring action. It was a bad film.

All anyone seems to like about it is that it was rated-R.

Personally, if you are going to have Stallone, Willis, Arnold, Thor, and JVD in the same film, I'd much rather it be really good then rated-R.

Thor isn't it, it's a different Hemsworth.

If it makes money but has fans of the original pissed off. That should be a lose to Sly & co & if there is a part 3. Fans will want Chuck Norris's character to die. If he does not in this one

Very curious about the PG-13 rating. I think Lionsgate implemented the mandate from the start, so the sequel reaches more eyeballs.

But I wouldn't be surprised if Simon West included an "Unrated" cut of EX2 (i.e. an R-rated version) on DVD and Blu-ray when it comes out.

Hilarious.

Well my interest for this flick officially went down substantially.

Boo-urns to this decision. It will make more money with the rating but the movie is no longer going to be tied to 80's action films because those had a lot of swearing and blood and violence. But the all mighty dollar rules the roost in Hollywood.

Chuck Norris 3/10/1940 71 years old
Clint Eastwood 5/31/1930 81 years old

Chuck is ten years younger than Eastwood! And anyone who thinks Eastwood is too old to be a believable bad ass, needs to go watch Grand Torino!! Which, by the way, he made at age 78.

Eastwood's badassery boils down to his presence. The guy could step into a room, crouched over a walker and dragging an IV behind him and still look and sound badass.

Norris never had that kind of presence, even when he was young. The only thing he had going for him was the martial arts moves. Now, I'm sure he can still do plenty of them and probably be able to kick some ass. But he'd get leveled if he were pitted against guys a third of his age whose skills are sharp. So at 71, he just comes off like a decrepit old fool.

That poster manip is hilarious. lmao!

Seriously though, as much as a loved the first film it was a terrible movie and had terrible direction, so I always wanted the sequel to be just as fun but a little bit better as an actual movie and not the cool nostalgia trip that the first one was.

If it's a better movie and not **** like that Die Hard 4 movie was I might be able to forgive the rating blunder.

Does it really matter if we see Sly shoots a guy's arm off?

Uh, yes...yes it does. Considering the balls-out level of violence in the first film, which is one of the reasons why it's loved by many, the possibility of neutering the second film is a considerably large blow. Like someone else said, if EX1 was rated PG-13 we wouldn't have half the awesome scenes we got. The Terry Crews shotgun scene is one of my favourites, and that would've ended up on the cutting room floor.

Also, the EX2 Nerf poster is hilarious.

IT has been awhile, but I am pretty sure there is only one real "hardcore" scene, and that is the shotgun one.

Can you give me the other scenes that would have had to have been cut out as opposed to simply trimmed? Because I can't think of many if any at all.

By the way, don't really feel like there are any "awesome" scenes in the first one.

If one looks at the track record, you'll see it hasn't been really good when it comes to stepping down in the ratings in franchises.

Die Hard 4
Terminator 4
Robocop 3
AVP

I lold.

It should be. The good guys with nerf guns & the bad guys with paint ball guns

I don't see the problem with PG-13 rating, you are still getting badass action and by the time it comes out on blu ray you'll probably get the unrated version with all the gore intact.
