I know this is a very general question but what did they do for The Flash tonight?
I saw a trailer for Arrow and heard about the main bad guy for the season but I've only seen that radar gun tease for The Flash.

Well they screened the pilot (officially) to those that were in attendance. If the pilot didn't get leaked a few weeks ago, then it would probably have made a bigger impact tonight for those in attendance.

The make-up effects from Burton's Planet of the Apes can't be that expensive these days, can it?

Doing anything GL within the first season would be dumb. Let the Flash breathe on his own. It's enough that Firestorm is in the mix.

Grodd's cage was already shown. i think it's safe to say he'll be a Gorilla that Star Labs was experimenting on when the particle accelator accident happened.

I agree.

It seems like some people want every single superhero to show up in the first season of Flash, Constantine or Daredevil.

You need to let the showrunners establish the main character of the show and his world before you introduce a whole bunch of other different characters.

The good thing about this Flash as opposed to the early 90's version is that they can afford to introduce superpower villains straight off the bat.

An Ape-man is easier to pull off then a talking ape on a tv budget. I know all about the cage but maybe he evolved into a proto ape-man. He could still be the same character.
