I was going to ask if Flash seemed better than Gotham, since I have only seemed the latter, but then I read about captain boomerang and decided that no other t.v. series in the world can beat that.

Flash for the win!

Roger Howarth (General Hospital) has landed a recurring role on CW’s superhero series The Flash, based on the DC comic. The project, from Warner Bros TV and Berlanti Productions, is an origin story about Barry Allen, aka The Flash (Grant Gustin), a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. Howarth, repped by Gersh and McGowan Management, will play Mason Bridge, an award-winning reporter from the Central City Picture News. He’s assigned to shepherd new employee Iris West (Candice Patton), but their relationship becomes complicated when Bridge begins to investigate Barry’s mentor, Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh). Howarth can currently be seen in General Hospital. He also recurred on Californication.

"You meet Ronnie Raymond tomorrow [in "Fastest Man Alive"] and then in December, you meet Firestorm," Robbie Amell (cousin to Arrow star, Stephen) confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter when asked exactly how long we have to wait before meeting Firestorm in The Flash's first season. "It'll take a minute before Firestorm turns back into Ronnie because when they find him in December, my character is really going through some stuff. He's schizophrenic, doesn't know what's happening, he's confused and dangerous to the people around him. You may not see Ronnie Raymond for a little while, but you'll see Firestorm." As for how faithful an adaptation this will be, it sounds as if we're definitely going to see the Firestorm from the comic books. "People will barely recognize him in December," he said of Ronnie's fate, adding: "but they'll know it's him when the fire bursts in the hands and the fire bursts in the head. The particle accelerator almost killed Ronnie and the fallout from it will definitely be seen in December."It was recently announced that Victor Garber (Fringe) will play Martin Stein, the other half of Firestorm. Thanks to Amell, we now know how that relationship will play out, as he told the site that the character will constantly be portrayed as being in his body, but his mind will switch between Stein and Raymond. "I gotta start watching Alias and start working on my Victor Garber impression. Sometimes Firestorm is Ronnie and sometimes he's Martin Stein, but physically it's going to be my body. I'm just excited to work opposite him because, I mean, he's Victor Garber. The fact that I get to share a character with this guy is going to be really fun." As for the powers we'll see during his appearances in the series, Amell couldn't give too much away, but did confirm that he'll be shooting nuclear energy out of his hands!

You gotta learn the difference between quote tags and spoiler tags, Luis.

The Flash - Things You Can't Outrun Clip 1

Really digging this show.

I wonder why Barry hasn't asked about Felicity (Arrow) seeing as she was the last girl that he had a connection with before the accident..

Well we won't have to wait long about that since Felicity will appear as a guest in next week's episode.

I think of the comic book shows on tv right now, Flash is by far the best

Where do people keep getting this nonsense?

Do you really think they'd
1. Spend so much time and effort re-establishing Barry Allen as the mainline Flash in the comics, animated movies, cartoon series, live action television series, toy lines, video games, etc
and
2. Cast a white dude to play a character they just re-imagined as black

There is absolutely no way The Flash is anyone but Barry in this new movie. No Jay, no Wally, no Bart.

Remember than in the New 52 neither Wally nor Bart has ever been the Flash, and Jay and Barry have never met.

1.All that was the choice of the comics writers not the film divison.
2.The movie universe isnt beholdedn to new 52 continuity. For example we are not getting new 52 Superman or Batman. What we are getting is John Byrne Superman and Millers TDKR Batman. This should make it abundantly clear that the Films are cherrypicking which sourcematerial they want in the universe be it new 52 or pre52 etc.So saying that Barry is the main Flash right now is not 100% Proof theyll use him.

It was a company wide mandate that all the silver age heroes go back to their most iconic secret identities in the mid to late 2000s. This is why legacy characters don't even exist anymore. At least not as we once knew them.

This mandate is also enforced by their Chief Creative Officer (Geoff Johns) and not just the publishers and editors. Considering that he has his hands in the direction of all the media adaptations (including film) I'm pretty certain we're going to see Barry in this movie.

Also this is not "Byrne's Superman" Byrne's Superman was not born on Krypton for example. MOS' Superman was. In that sense he has more in common with Silver Age Superman than Byrne's Superman. There are many more differences between Cavill's Superman and Byrne's but that's a whole other thread and tbh not one I would really participate in since I only saw that movie once and completely hated it.

"OH but Carrie Kelley might be in the new movie" yeah and Carrie Kelley has also been in the New 52 DC universe since early 2013. If someone walks out of the movie and picks up the fourth volume of New 52 Batman & Robin they will see that Carrie Kelley is there as well. Albeit not as Robin but nevertheless it's just using elements in the movie that are already being used in the New 52.

You're going to see influences from all of DC's history in their media adaptations naturally but it's pretty obvious that the new 52 elements will be very prevalent and likely used the most as you can see by their new animated movies and live action TV shows. After all the New 52 was partly created to streamline their universe and provide a cleaner and clearer template for the people behind the adaptations to draw influence from. They wanted more obvious corporate synergy for their IPs across all mediums.

So sre they making Arrow and Flash in continuity with the big screen or these are still separate universes?

The TV shows will have nothing to do with the movies and vice versa thank god. That way their respective creators could really pull no punches. Especially since the precedent of their being more than one way to adapt Green Arrow or The Flash to another medium in the first place exists. Even if you're using the same characters behind the mask. That's the good thing about DC characters; by their nature they're easily more malleable than the Marvel ones.

Really? Because Geoff Johns has been very clear since this summer:

Geoff Johns: "It's a separate universe than film so that the filmmakers can tell the story that's best for film," Johns said. "While we explore something different in a different corner of the DC universe."

"We will not be integrating the film and television universes"

And since then, we've had more confirmation about it, nothing new.

Glad they addressing the whole where to put the meta villains thing. Just can't keep killing them off.

What can we look forward to in the upcoming double date between Barry and Felicity, Iris and Eddie?

It was so fun to shoot. In our cafe, Jitters, we have a little balcony area and Jesse [L. Martin] was sitting up there [during filming] and he just couldn't stop laughing every time we cut. There's flirting, people are secretly sweating, some people are oblivious to what's going on. From the moment Felicity walks in, it's all on. It's fascinating to see all of these characters being thrown together in a mixer and see what color comes out. There's going to be a lot of feeling sorry for people and a lot of stumbling. (Laughs.) People are going to be 'shipping all sorts of crossovers. I think there's going to be a lot of that happening, especially with the double date.

So now we have "Days of our Lives" between Oliver, Felicity, Barry, Ray, Iris, Eddie, Caitlin...

Felicity: Ollie, Barry or Ray?
Iris: Barry or Eddie?
Barry: Iris, Felicity or Caitlin?

And who knows who else could enter the mix!

Great CW, just what the fans wanted! :whatever:

I could see Caitlin and Barry having a similar dynamic to Tina McGee and Barry in the 1990's TV series. Down to the unresolved sexual tension.
