Have they said anything about Ray Palmer showing up on this show yet? I don't watch Arrow but hear that Routh has been really good in the role. As someone who always enjoyed reading Flash and Atom interactions I really look forward to seeing Ray and Barry in the same scenes together geeking out about science and stuff.

The only thing that's been said is that, IF Ray were to end up acquiring his comic-book abilities, the manifestation of them would most likely occur on this show as opposed to over on Arrow.

I just have to say I am enjoying this show so far. Much better then arrow but that is not hard to do and better then gothma so far. This show is kind of giving me a smallville vibe and I loved smallville and I was shocked at the end of episode 2.

Better than Gotham? Sure, but being a bit too much like Smallville keeps it from being better than Arrow IMO (and I liked SV).

- Smallville had the "Red-Blue Blur" and Lois investigating him; The Flash has Iris interested in the "Red Streak".

- Freaks of the week as villains

- Clichéd love triangles

- Secrets! Clark not telling Lana the truth; Barry not telling Iris...

- Etc...

Iris not realizing that Barry is in love with her, when is so obvious, makes her dumb. And Barry not telling her is going to get old fast, same with the freaks of the week, etc. Fans are expecting more than what Smallville did. They should also drop the cheesy Barry voiceovers, they're unnecessary. That's why the Flash movie should be better, less dumb, no CW crap and more badass... despite the show's flaws, I still like it, it will get better like Arrow did. :word:

We're two episodes in. Flash has taken two episodes to do numerous things that Smallville took 7-8 seasons to do (not counting the costume, which took until the last couple minutes of SV's finale). And Arrow is also guilty of a lot of those things too, love triangles, secrets, even its own more grounded version of the freak of the week villains. We know he'll be called the Flash before long, and I imagine they learned from Smallville and won't keep Iris not knowing for too long (and that goes for both secrets).

^^ Of course, but they could've done better from the start to avoid comparisons. For example, the Weather punk could've been a 2 episode arc to develop the character more; no Barry-Iris-Eddie triangle, with Barry in love with her is more than enough, etc. Is not hard to do, but the CW pulls them down with their BS.

The "freaks of the week" will definitely get old if they use it almost every week. I want to see more story arcs and less procedural fare.

lol should be his official name :funny:
Seriously though, I don't think that was the real Weather Wizard. That was Clyde Mardon. When the accident happened, he was with his brother... Mark Mardon, the real Weather Wizard.

Fringe had the perfect balance between procedural and serialized stuff, imo.

I think what makes this stand out is that it's actually a fun show. Yeah, there's angst and danger, but it has enough goofball tongue in cheek moments that it works. It's not all doom and gloom.

I actually like that we don't have another broody James Dean wannabe hero for a change. Barry's goofy and likable. You have good will towards him, as opposed to having to sit through moments of broody self pity.

Saw this ad and wondered how much it cost to do that ape, and whether it's possible to do Grodd just as well.

I really don't see how this show will ever be able to pull of Grodd effectively, in all honesty.

Neither do I, but this ad gave me a slither of hope. I wouldn't mind not seeing him if they can't do it properly.

So is Cisco going to name all the villains? Because how then is Captain Cold really any better than Captain Clone, the name he originally gave Multiplex? Why would that stick whereas the other one didn't? Maybe Cold names himself?

And if Cisco is naming everyone, why can't he come up with the Flash name for Barry instead of letting him be called the Red Streak?

He's not exactly in a position where he can dictate what the media calls him. Ollie already planted the seeds for the name and episode 6 is called "The Flash is Born," so I imagine that's when the name sticks.

Grodd can be done via some very good CG and animatronic/makeup effects. They'll blow their wad on his episode alone though.

To be fair, a lot of these things aren't just things SMALLVILLE featured (also elements featured to a lesser extent on ARROW). They're also classic staples of the comics, which themselves are basically adventurous soap operas.

I hope so. But then why isn't Ollie called Green Arrow all this time? And in Smallville, Superman had to be stuck with the red-blue blur for the duration of the series (before it was just the blur). It's like they're ashamed of these comic book names. In Ang Lee's Hulk, the main character wasn't even referred to as such but the army referred to him as "Angry Man." Honestly, which sounds sillier when you think about it? Angry Man or Hulk?

One thing that the Flash does have which is different from Arrow though is this whole idea of knowledge from the future. It brings it more into the realm of science fiction and potential time travel than Arrow. But then, even with that fantasy aspect since the beginning in Smallville, they still couldn't refer to him as Superman.

I'm wondering if they're going with the whole "voice modulator" thing with Barry in costume.

I mean Iris is pretty much the only regular who doesn't know at this point. But are they going to allow us "suspension of disbelief" if he talks in front of her?

That kinda came off like Malcolm referencing the name "Green Arrow" in the first season. It's like "ha ha,we know that should be his name, but we still aren't using it now."

In Arrow, his name is part of his character development. He's not quite "Green Arrow" yet, so he isn't quite going by Green Arrow yet. With Smallville, it was always something they had always planned for the finale... But took way longer getting there than they should. With The Flash, it's only been two episodes and they just haven't called him that yet. With Hulk I... I literally remember none of that movie. :oldrazz:
