That's what I think it is, first time I saw the pilot I instantly thought of that, what with the red streak being as prominent as the yellow, it very much looks like a fight between Barry and Zoom. I'm thinking we'll re-visit the fight towards the end of the season and see it from Barry's perspective as Flash.

This seems to be the logic running around (mwah).

But he spent the whole episode trying to keep him from becoming a hero until people were actually in danger.

I'm thinking Wells might be a descendant of Thawne's and something happens to Eddie that could be perceived as Flash's fault. But that's just one of a few theories I can think of, I'm intrigued to see how Zoom is handled.

In the comics, Professor Zoom (a.k.a. Reverse-Flash) has a few different origins, but most have him hailing from the 25th Century. He's certainly never been a detective in Central City! It could be then that Rick Cosnett's Eddie Thawne is an ancestor of Eobard's, and he talked to Comic Book Resources recently about how The CW's The Flash will explore his family and their connection to the Allens. "I think that's going to be the intriguing thing to see, whether he's the white or the black sheep of this family of Thawnes. I think the producers are up to do a lot of twists and to really shock the fans, especially in terms of the first season. The intriguing thing is, "Who are these people, really?" We're trying to show the humanity of them, in social situations and in the present day, I think. It's also quite funny, which I think is going to be surprising to people. It has little gags and everything. It's epic, but it's also human and funny."

The actor then went on confirm that he's been reading up on the Reverse-Flash in case he ends up taking on that role somehow, and talks below about what he finds interesting about the Thawnes. He seemingly goes on to confirm that both Reverse-Flash and Wally West are indeed on the way, along with Cobalt Blue! "It was fascinating to me, and I think the family lineage -- they're quite wealthy and they're from this old money world of deep, deep dark secrets. It's also fascinating with the whole Barry's twin [storyline], and who that is and who it's going to become. You also not only have the Reverse-Flash, you also have the Wally [West] kid, and we've had Wentworth Miller on the show and all sorts of amazing guest stars like Robbie Amell already. Things are turning over quite quickly, and I think you're going to see some people in other suits pretty soon." Of course, Cosnett could be referring to what he found interesting in the comic book here, but the fact that he includes Wentworth Miller in the same sentence makes me think they're elements that the show will explore. For those of you who don't know, Cobalt Blue is Barry's twin brother who was stolen by an inept doctor responsible for killing one of the Thawne's children. As a result, he was brought up the this family and ended up becoming one of Barry Allen's main villains!

I remember reading that, they definitely have something good in store.

Well John Wesley Shipp is the first alumi to grace this show, I wonder if we'll see any other stars from the short lived 1990's tv series "The Flash" maybe Mark Hamill might have a cameo since he played the original the Trickster

Still gave him the motivational speech at the end tho

After realizing he'd been a dick and admitting he was wrong. If anything, him looking contemplatively at the paper from the future about Flash dying and trying to keep him from becoming a superhero shows that he's someone who likes/cares for/is Barry that was trying to prevent Flash's demise from happening. It's only when he realizes that if he doesn't let Barry be a hero a Hell of a lot of people could get hurt or worse.

So given the evidence:
Wells, from the future = Eobard.
Eddie, good guy, cop = Hunter.

Tina McGee is coming back as Tina McGee.

She was stunning back in the day

Solid pilot. Very entertaining, energetically-paced stuff. I like Grant Gustin a lot, though he's still finding the balance of energy needed for this role. His Barry is a little "gee whiz" at times, which can be refreshing. Thought most of the effects were fantastic, a few iffy ones here and there, but overall, pretty impressive stuff for television. The costume looked good in motion, and there are some pretty classic visuals of Barry in the suit toward the end.

I thought the Barry/Oliver scene was a little bit forced. Especially the dialogue, where Barry is suddenly having doubts about being a hero despite not having any conflicts to this end. I was hoping to see a bit more enthusiasm about his new powers/role in the city's affairs before Barry started to doubt himself.

Detective West is solid. Seems he's going to be in on the secret from the getgo.

Not digging Iris so far. Just not that interesting a character/actress yet.

Would have liked a bit more character to Mardon, but I'm sure we'll see more of him.

The general concept for the show is good, with the search for metahumans. That should be a lot of fun.

Some decent Easter Eggs throughout the episode, and hints of things to come. I liked the beginning, and the "blurs" are intriguing. The tease at the end...interesting that they'd go there already.

Overall, a nice mix of emotion, action and mystery. Good start.

So was the whole promo of having an extended premiere just one big flat lie?

Oh Wow,

Well I'd love for Mark Hamill to guest star, who before he was casted in the iconic voice acting role of The Joker in Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, he played the live action Flash Rogue gallery villain "The Trickster" and then reprised his role in an episode of Justice League Unlimited.

That promo wasn't directed at the people who pirated the show and knew what happened. It ran 3 minutes over the hour they had and included a minute-long trailer.

i'm enjoying the various "speed effects", and I like how even though his suit is a darker red, when he runs, he's still a bright red and yellow blur.

maybe the costume will be in the first few episodes or for the entire first season as a prototype costume and if there's a second season, he'll graduate to the more traditional costume...

I think with the budget and time they had, this was the suit they could make. Now with a full series pick up they can have time to make a new suit and have it ready for say the finale or season 2. Unlike the movies, they can only do so much. Also as they film they will see what does and doesn't work. I do hope that they really look at the TDK and Captain America suit because it fixes some of the problems of the Flash costume. By that I mean the mask. It needs to be separated from the neck and would probably function better simply as a helmet. This works for the actor and designers.

I really hope they don't, yeah sure Bats and Cap could turn their head, but their masks looked pretty bad. I'll take creases in the neck when they actor looks left or right over the bobble head look any day. Flash's mask looks fantastic, and I do not want them to sacrifice that when they can solve the neck problem by making the casting thinner in the neck or casting it out of other materials like foam latex or silicone.

Did he? It was his machine that gave Barry powers. His demotivational speech lead Barry to get a pep talk and his name from Arrow. Finally he's the one who convinces Barry that he is a hero. He made Barry prove himself.

Exactly

I said this in my review, but there are some fairly clear and strong indications that Harrison is the series' analogue to Malcolm Merlyn and Slade Wilson.

There's also something 'off' about his character even before the episode's final scene.

Have you guys seen the pic of Professor Zoom running next to Barry in a new suit yet?

I'm with you on that, his mask is fantastic. The suit could use some streamlining or modding, but as it stands now, it's nearly perfect and looks MUCH better on screen in motion than any BTS pics we've ever seen. I love the red logo aswell.

I'm not a fan of the TDK suit, and I don't think caps suit is perfect either.
