Wouldn't that be the Reverse-Flash from 15 years ago then? In the current timeline, Eobard Thawne has used Dr.Wells body for 15 years. So somehow in this case Barry must have changed time again to the point where Thawne never took over Wells body. It's the only logical thing I can come up with. Hopefully they explain this logically.

It could be thawne traveling through time before he tried to kill young Barry.

So ready for tomorrow! My DVR is doing its job haha

Ok, so he is the reverse flash on the timeline where he killed Cisco then, I pressume ?

That's what I was thinking, I can only equate it back to the future 2 where there are multiple martys running around the under the sea dance. my thing is though the cisco death timeline was destroyed once barry time jumped and re did the day over.

That's what thinking as well. Perhaps the reason the show will come up with for how Eobard can still be alive is because this Eobard is from when he first travels from the future into the present. Which means, because he was traveling through the Speed Force, he was unaffected by the changes to the timestream.

Perhaps this would also mean that, from his perspective, this is his first encounter with Barry. Which would mean that he would learn that, sometime later in his timeline, he gets erased from existence. Which means the future he comes from also no longer exists. And this will be the reason why he hates Barry, because he blames him for his eventual death and destroying his timeline, not realizing it was his own ancestor, Eddie, who did it.

In any case, I don't think this will be the first encounter for this version of the Reverse Flash.

Even if he's from earlier timeline, prior to having gone into the past to kill young Barry, I think it was established that he had a LONG history with Barry from the "Original/Prime" timeline where the Particle Accelerator had exploded in 2020.

So is the Flash on this week? And what about Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow? When are they on?

Yes, Flash and the JL movie special(with a new SS trailer) tomorrow, Arrow Wed, and LoT on Thurs.

Ok thanks. I'm not watching the JL movie special though, because if it's full of footage of BvS, then I don't want to see it. Maybe I'll catch it after BvS comes out, if I remember.

So Flash airs against the Captain America 75th Anniversary Special and Agent Carter airs against the Justice League movie special?

I guess? Flash is on at 8est, and JL on at 9. Not sure when those shows come on? If they come on at 8 & 9, then yes. :hehe:

What Cap 75th anniversary special is this? And is Agent Carter on this week too? I was thinking it was next week.

But that version doesn't exist, since Eddie killed himself, and ending Eobard's chance at life.

Maybe Barry stopping the wormhole split the timeline? Since the current timeline technically shouldn't even be possible anyways but Barry and Firestorm kept it from getting wiped out.

So, of I'm interpreting that correctly, they're setting in place a kind of River Song-but-just-evil scenario with Thawne; he ceases to exist the moment that Eddie is dead, but since his personal effects on the timeline are still real, he did exist until then, and as a time traveler, he can keep encountering Barry, but it'll be a younger Thawne almost each time.

So, unlike the way they screwed up Merlin by trying to make him some wierd fusion of ally and antagonist but without taking into account his personal history with Oliver, Thawne may actually be the recurring archnemisis, with that ace in the whole element that since Barry already defeated him, he can never really stop him!

found this interesting
it's from CBM though so you'll have to head to their site if this doesn't work but it's also from Ew too

When it was revealed that the Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher version) was returning in the second season of The Flash, many fans theorized that it would be an Earth-2 version of the supervillain. Nope. It will be the same Reverse-Flash from season 1...kind of.

The Reverse-Flash returns in the eleventh episode of season 2, conspicuously titled.... "The Reverse Flash Returns". When this news broke, many fans theorized that we would be seeing an Earth-2 version of the character as the alternate reality has already presented viewers with several Central City doppelgangers. However, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg states that's not the case forThe Flash's season one nemesis. "Time on our show does not unfold linearly. Sometimes you’ve seen events from one direction and then you start to see them from the other. This Reverse-Flash is not exactly the Reverse-Flash that we saw disintegrate at the end of the year. It’s a Reverse-Flash from an earlier timeline. It’s not the Earth-Two Reverse-Flash, it’s the Reverse-Flash. That is, hands down, one of our best episodes."

How does the Reverse-Flash return from an earlier timeline? At some point during season one, does the Reverse-Flash race to the future to see how his evil plan turns out? Does Zoom pluck Reverse-Flash out of the past to torment Barry in the future.

We'll have to wait until the Reverse-Flash returns in the January 26th episode of The Flash.

Be good to see Matt Letscher have an extended run as RF - not only do I feel that he fits more like the comic book Eobard, but also I'm enjoying Cavanagh as the real Wells immensely.
