On the subject of these rumors, can anyone recall any rumors surrounding the PS3 and 360 that turned out to be wholly incorrect?

Well a few about the 360 was that it was originally going to have a 40gb (it was 20gb) hard drive with an updated Halo 2 on the hard drive and absolutely no Backwards Compatibility.

For the ps3 it was 120fps, 2x HDMI, and 4D.

There were probably close to 20 completely inaccurate rumors about the WiiU

I preordered The Last of Us and MGR today. I was almost tempted in going for Injustice and Tomb Raider but I think I might wait on those and not get them day one

Xbox 720 or PlayStation 4 release date discovered (just title of the article not fact)

Suggests Battlefield 4 Nov 30 release date on 720, PS4 & PC. Also on wii U, 360 & PS3.

Mentions 64 players at 60 fps. Actually reading past the break, it sets the next gen BF4 release date between Nov 30 2013 & March 2014 as the Nov date might be only for the last gen systems.

We Know All About The Next Xbox, From Someone Who Says They’ve Got One

"describing the graphical leap from current-gen console gaming like going from playing Halo 2 on an original Xbox to playing Crysis on a powerful PC"

Being able to play more than one game at once might be useful as well if you can freeze the game you're currently playing. That would be great for me as I always get invites when I'm in the middle of something I can't otherwise quit.

The more important thing (in my opinion) to take away from that article is this:

As we reported a year ago, the new version of the Kinect motion-control sensor array will be included with every Durango sold. The unit seems far superior to the one currently found for the Xbox 360 (or the PC, for that matter).

Perhaps most importantly, this isn't an optional accessory. It's mandatory. Not only does a Kinect ship with every console, but it must be plugged in and calibrated for the console to even function.

To me that's not a big deal at all if it comes with one. I'd say the most important thing is the multitasking, just imagine how amazing that'll be

My concern is how much more the thing will cost now that it comes with a useless kinect. Iv used my kinect all of like 5 times since iv had it and deff wasn't planning on getting one next gen. Idk maybe I'll see more uses for kinect this go round. Still playing the wait and see game.

Well, most rumors put the PS4 at $399. So competitively priced with the Wii-U. I'd imagine that's the basic, and Sony will release a deluxe version at $450. Microsoft probably won't want to make the same mistake the PS3 did, so I can't see them going over $500. How they can release a machine on par with a PS4, and include an upgraded Kinect, and be evenly priced, I don't know.

Given that Kinect doesn't appeal to me though, Kinect being mandatory is a strike against Nextbox for me personally though. Simply because I can only imagine the push behind Kinect related titles when every console has one. To be fair, I think the Wii-U's controller looks clunky, and off putting too. As for PS4, I'd recommend staying the course of Move being optional controls with some stand alone titles, and not pushing Move games over normal ones like Microsoft did with Kinect at first.

Huge for me. Also hope the rumours of both consoles being able to automatically record recent gameplay are true. Great for recording gaming memories & would also be really useful in helping to get rid of cheating in multiplayer. I'd record & immortalise my approach run to endings to major campaigns, beating co-op modes like GoW Horde on hardest difficulty with a group of friends (would be cool seeing all their names pop up on the video) & those ultra-rare instances when I go positive in multiplayer. :woot:

Not too bad, it looks beefier. Not fond of the analog sticks, or shortened grips though. The touch pad, and motion sensor have me intrigued. The only weird thing for me is the speaker, and headphone jacks. If you have a wireless headset, or surround sound it's useless. So why make it such a prominent feature. The only thing I can think of is maybe a Kojima could implement a special message in a unique way. Like someone close to you character whispering, and it only coming out of that speaker, like they were standing next to you in real life.

Rock Band is ending its once a week for 5 years dlc in April

Check your PS3 messages. Sony is handing out free $10 codes for PSN. I just got one. I googled it, and it looks like a promotion for today's event. Sony pretty much paid for my Dawnguard Skyrim DLC when it launches next week at half price.
