I don't know what it is with girls and Gears of War, but back when I was really into that first game, I swear I had girls in practically every other match. That's never happened with any game before or since. It's really strange.
I don't know how true it is but I've often seen the claim that girls play/like/watch Gears more than other shooters. I thought the darkness of the earlier games, the gore and intensity might turn them off but part of the reason for adding multiple female playable characters in Gears 3's campaign & mutiplayer was for the female fanbase. I have a few on my friends list especially from Horde & some of them were really good at it. 2 in fact who were on 2 different teams I played on.

Yeah, one of my favorite people I've ever played games with was a girl I met playing Gears. But yeah, it just strikes me as odd that Gears of War seems to be such a hit with the ladies, not just because of how incredibly violent it is, but more because stylistically everything in that series is kind of bulky and ugly and really masculine.

Maybe that's the reason. :O

Yeah seems like it's almost designed for men only far more than the others. My sister who doesn't play games loved watching me play Gears & also having it in the background but got bored pretty quickly when I started playing Halo and actually said something like 'what is this crap?' when I put CoD on (multiplayer). lol :word:

Space Jam Goes With Everything. EVERYTHING.

It's that time of year again—the time of year when someone links me a Space Jam mash-up and I fall into a terrifying black hole of WELCOME TO THE JAM again. I'm dragging you down with me this time, dear reader. I'm so sorry (...wait, no I'm not). This had to happen.

Here's a collection of video game related Slams, which prove the eternal axiom: Quad City DJ's Space Jam goes with everything (as I'm sure some of you are already aware—this isn't a new meme!)

Don't really get the big deal over it other than it being EA and IGN, neither of which most gamers don't like.

LOL.

Thats pretty good.

Iv never not purchased a game(our purchased a game for that matter) based on what IGN or any other website stated. I tend to know better than them any way.

But, to play devils advocate, maybe EA has shown IGN BF4 and IGN was really impressed, wrote up an article saying it could be the game of the year, showed that to EA and EA is planning on using that for their website?

Eh I love Garriot lol a little cocky there lol. But he is a master of game making and in the 80's and 90's most gamers knew who Lord British was. The western RPG owes tons to him. The Ultima series is one of my favorite and I'm glad to see the kickstarter project made more then they intended. I can't wait to see another Ultima. It's been about 15 years. And IX was riddled with bugs that made it unplayable for years (because of the publisher's rushing) But under all those terrible bugs, it was actually a great game. But Ultima VII and IV still remain my favorites. Ultima Underworld 1&2 were awesome as well.

Doom and Half-Life; Two great tastes that taste great together.

Unreal Engine 4, Frostbite 3 will not support Wii U

When someone asks if Unreal Engine 4 will work on Wii U, Epic co-founder Mark Rein bursts out laughing. "No," he says.

Rein clarifies to IGN, still laughing, "I just laugh at the question...Unreal Engine 4, we're not PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, or Wii U. It's next-gen technology. That's what we're aiming for."

And to tie in with that: (new UE4 tech demo)

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/...wcases-Unreal-Engine-4-Demo--Infiltrator.html

After seeing BF4, AC4 & these demos the next gen stuff I'm seeing is every bit as good as I've been hoping.

Edit: sorry, don't know why I didn't see the video at your link 1st time. It's the same video but there's also an extended version of one of the older tech demos with an ice creature at the end. I'd love for both of these to actually be real games.
