OK...to those who played Dead Space 2, did they got rid of the 'normal 'mode and replace it with what was 'hard' difficulty on Dead Space 1?

I know as a casual gamer i suck at these things, but i should not be having THIS much problem on normal setting. I finished Dead Space 1 on hard difficulty with only the plasma cutter..but here, geez..It seems like every encounter is a horde mode.Typical fight is Isaac fighting ten screaming Satan's childrens, 2 black Necros, two spitting necros while magically a jumping necro would appear behind Isaac and stuck it's pointy tail up Isaac's ass...

Watch A Fox Reporter Demolish A Hackneyed Anti-Game Argument

Today, an old man went on television and complained about video games. Then someone proved him horribly wrong.

Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and current head of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, went on the John Stossel Show on Fox Buisness to tell why he thinks violent games are abhorrent and deserve to be taxed. Stossel, confused, struggled to understand the logic behind Graham's argument.

This is what that frustration looks like:

Here is a comprehensive breakdown of their arguments, as I understand them:

Graham:

  • God gets violent games because of that whole crucifixion business.
  • We tax cigarettes, therefore we should also tax videogames because they’re the same.
  • I miss my old cowboy TV shows. Gunsmoke was awesome, I’ll tell ya what.
  • We're addicted to violent media "like the Romans".
  • I’m old and this brave new world frightens and confuses me.

Stossel:

  • Crime in America is down on the whole.
  • Japan has higher game usage, immensely lower violence.
  • There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that games make you violent.
  • This is the exact same hysteria as comics in the 1950s, dressed up for a new generation.
  • You have no argument.

Look, I don't agree with Stossel about 99 percent of the time, but that's completely irrelevant right now. The man has done his homework on this one, and a shocking display of basic competency like this is something you simply don't see a lot of on television.

So Stossel? Today you've earned your facial hair.

I've always found the "video games are the cause of all evil" arguements to be incredibly stupid. If that would be the case, how would that explain the over represented violence in America compared to other countries?

Michael Moore has the correct answer to that question.

It doesn't seem to come from people who do any real analysis of video games and their effects. It's proof enough that many countries where video games are an obsessive part of culture have low crime rates. Until that can be explained, video games by themselves can't be labelled as the cause for violence.

Exactly! :)

Wel...I certainly had an interesting experience playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate online today. I was helping a Low Rank Hunter Rank One person and a guy entered. He was constantly creaming over my Lucent Nargacuga gunner set and telling me how he loves panties.

This is roughly the set I wear as a gunner. It has pretty useful skills and that's the only reason why I wear it.

I'm betting this is a very young guy. I wonder if he knows he's flirting with a middle aged person? I think the next time I see him online I'm telling him I'm old enough to be his mom.

How is Monster Hunter? I've always heard a lot about it, but never actually played it. I'll be getting a Wii U by year's end, most likely, and MH3 was one of the games I was looking at for it.

CCP CEO talks expansion, warns of big companies becoming 'very dumb, very quickly'

After devoting the last decade to tweaking and maintaining its spacefaring MMO, EVE Online, CCP Games is ready for a multi-product future, CEO Hilmar Petursson explained in an interview with GamesIndustry International.

"That sort of self-division, structuring the company around multiple products, is something that we've taken a lot of time to do," Peturrson admits. "Now we're in that world, we're much better structured to make that a continued success without losing focus on EVE, which is obviously hugely important to us."

Petursson notes that company leaders must emphasize structure during times of expansion, or else risk losing momentum. "There's a lot of focus on learning when you have a bigger company, to make sure the entire system is learning," he said. "The biggest shift was realizing that. A big company can become very dumb, very quickly. The larger the group of people becomes, the more you lose efficiency, fluidity, creativity, and innovation, unless you structure it very well."

The recent PlayStation 3 release of the EVE companion game Dust 514 has also proven fruitful. "We're seeing a different fanbase with Dust, but they behave similarly," Petursson explains. "EVE Online just became more interesting because Dust exists. Dust is more interesting because its in a partnership with EVE Online. We see a lot of power in that idea."

I bought Nights into Dreams since it was on sale for only $5. It's cool, but I have absolutely no idea what the **** I'm doing. There's no kind of tutorial or anything, it just kind of throws you in there and is like, well, here you go. It is cool, though.

I was hoping they would dial back Halo after the lukewarm reception to Halo 4, not dial it up.

well here's that OZ ip I mentioned this past week end or some time ago.

American McGee launches OZombie Kickstarter, Alice still on his mind

( hours ago)

American McGee's Spicy Horse development studio has picked a game for Kickstarter that's been pickling in pre-production for a while: OZombie for PC, Mac, Linux and latest-gen tablets. It's a twisted take on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (the books, not the movie), starring the Scarecrow as the former king of Emerald City, exiled and mentally tortured. Series author L. Frank Baum describes the Scarecrow as "the wisest man in all Oz," after all – and now he's the most evil.

Players will take control of Dorothy's great-great-granddaughter, alongside the Tin Woodsman and the Lion, to fight the Scarecrow and his army. OZombie is a single-player-centric game, with a multiplayer mode unlocked after completing the main campaign. It features multiple game modes, spanning RPG, tactical combat and exploration, and has a narrative focus.

Spicy Horse is looking for $950,000 in the OZombie Kickstarter, and it has 41 days to get there. In one day, it's raised around $60,000.

Earlier this year, Spicy Horse said it would launch a Kickstarter for either OZombie or Alice: Otherlands, American McGee's next foray into the Alice universe. The Alice license is tied up at EA following the launch of Alice: Madness Returns in 2011, and Spicy Horse is negotiating to get it back. Spicy Horse has started pre-production on Alice: Otherlands already.

"I won't stop trying to make new Alice games," McGee writes in a Kickstarter update. He continues: "We're still having meaningful and productive conversations with EA regarding Alice. Truth is, it's an important bit of IP for them and for us (and for you!) which means that negotiating a deal is going to take time."

I end up playing 5 games at the same time. I have no idea when I'll be done.

This is me pretty much these days. I start a lot of games and try to play them all. It feels like it takes forever to make any significant progress, let alone finish them.
