Lara : Laura Haddock ( Guardians Of The Galaxy )

Works for me. I’ve been hoping Jor-El & Lara are relegated to just cameo appearances (if at all), so makes sense if Gunn just goes to his roster of actors for these two.

I also thought maybe Ophelia Lovibond as Lara.

Although I don’t want to see Krypton in the main films moving forward, I do think that an Andor-type prequel series on HBOMax with Jor-El and Lara trying to maneuver political intrigue and a growing civil war (maybe Zor-El?) set during Krypton’s final days would be awesome.

For Jor-El, I like Lee Pace (another previous Gunn collaborator). But I could also see him as Kara’s father Zor-El…

He could either inspire Superman as his birth father, or plague him as his uncle / Cyborg Superman.

Cameo's are fine for me as well.

I'd basically only want to see Jor El and Lara if they're crucial to the plot , i.e. if Brainiac were the villain and they wanted to use the STAS origin, or if they went back to the Phantom Zone criminals , yet again.

Other than that though, this film isn't gonna be an origin story and I wouldn't want them shoehorned in for the sake of just having them there.

I really , really, hope they keep both Kents alive this time around .
I loved how they were both around in STAS, and Lois And Clark .

Agreed. If Clark needs guidance, he should go to Smallville to talk with Ma and Pa. If it’s something otherworldly, he can go to the Fortress of the Solitude to discuss with Kelex (or another super robot) but I’d really like to move away from his dependence on “ghost dad” Jor-El.

Gunn alum Michael Rooker would make hysterical Perry White .

Perry White : Michael Rooker

He's more Mannheim material, IMO.

With Gregg Henry (Peter Quill's grandfather) as Bibbo Bibbowski.
And Sean Gunn as Dabney Donovan (Luthor scientist).

I'm still hoping for Odenkirk as Perry, but there's a wide net there for casting potential.

I could see Rooker as Perry very much in the Lane Smith school of Perry White, which is my favorite of the Perry's we've had in live action.

I could totally see him as a one time hard nosed newspaper reporter who's gruff on the outside, but really has a heart of Gold.

But , like everything having to do with casting, it depends on the type of Perry they want.

If Gunn ends up directing, I gotta think Rooker will end up in the cast somehow, even if it's for a cameo .

Here is what should be the final cast for maximum critical and commercial success:

Superman: Jacob Elordi

Lois Lane: Olivia DeJonge

Lex Luthor: Cillian Murphy

Jor-el: Brendan Fraser

Gen. Sam Lane: Jon Hamm

Martha Kent: Sarah Michelle Gellar

Perry White: John Goodman

Jonathon Kent: Josh Hartnett

John Corben: Joel Edgerton

Brainiac: Jason Isaacs

With Sarah Michelle Gellar as Martha, then only after she's beaten a would-be attacker to a pulp and staked him though the heart she might call on her son Clark to come and save her (from herself). :o

Harnett and Gellar could be fine for a reboot of the Smallville TV show with a teenage Clark Kent. Not sure I'd use them for a Superman movie though.

I'd rather have someone for Lex like isaacs, Bana, or Fassbender.

A reboot of Smallville that takes 10 seasons for Clark to ever learn to fly and put on the suit, and we only get to see him in the distance or doing a shirt rip with a Superman T-shirt underneath. And before that he'll fight all of Superman's villains before ever even taking that name. :o

I really wish they’d kept Smallville to three or four seasons. The first couple of seasons were decent…after that it started to become very padded out.

I can do without more Krypton stuff, but seeing Clark growing up on the farm would be cool.

I would love it if the only Krypton stuff was the ship and information orbs containing video and audio recordings of Jor-El taking about the impending destruction of the planet and his hopes of being able to raise him safely on earth. I think it makes the death of Jor-El and Krypton far more tragic and sad if Superman isn't able to have father/son talks with him in the Fortress on the reg.

As much as the Fortress scenes are some of my favourites in all the Superman movies I have to agree (and had been thinking something similar myself). The other thing is the Fortress can always be used by enemies of Superman (Think Luthor in Superman 2/Superman Returns). Surely an ultra intelligent race such as the Kryptonians could see this?

The Fortress should just be an ice sculpture. When Superman's enemies infiltrate it expecting it to be a high tech base, it turns out it can't do anything because they're just blocks of ice for decoration. :o

Or maybe have his fortress in the Amazon.

Wolfgang Novogratz, 25, is a name I hadn't seen before , but apparently it's been going around.
He's young , but if he was cast, he'd probably be around 27 or so by the time he would suit up.

Lookwise , he's like a Fusion of Reeve and Hoechlin

This interview is a couple years old .

The villains are trickier for me to cast but I’d like to see Nicolas Cage involved somehow. I think he could mesh with Gunn, and obviously he loves the character/lore.

Admittedly, I’m leaning towards either Brainiac or Mongul (mocap). Are those crazy?

Nicholas Cage as a ‘new’ take on Terence Stamp’s General Zod?
