The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

Basically the reason we talk about Henry's "start" in the Tudors is because that's not his first major role by a long shot....just his first not embarrassing major role. :funny:

And honestly the Tudors IS still a little embarrassing, imo. But it was on a legit premium network with real actors, and Henry did well on it, so yeah.

So he's improved, okay, fair enough then. I ain't seen the other things you quoted.

Oh I see I thought you were basing him as an actor now based off of Eastenders.

That fox bite was a particular highlight.

Haha

Ah I thought he was the stand out character in the first season when he was playing a dick haha

Kendrick looks and acts too vunerable, prime Sandra Bullock would have been perfect. This is a lady that risks her life, answers back to criminals... i can't see Anna K doing that. Emma Rossum is my choice.
To me Kendrick looks like someone who could play a snarky, career-oriented smartass with a kindhearted, loving heart. I think she could fit the role of Lois Lane. I also like the Rossum suggestion, though. (And frankly, she also has a pretty vulnerable look. She may overcome that with attitude and acting prowess in 'Shameless' but she looks like a Disney Princess nonetheless.)

Kendrick would nail Lois Lane, if there is a recast I really hope it's her.

I think i am just used to her from those rom coms too much... i think lois has a lean, athletic build too, like she is up at 5am running. Watchign shameless, she did whats he needed to do and had charm, which is what made me think of lois.

I could def see Kendrick as Lana though... country girl, innocent to the outside city life... that spark that keeps pulling clark back...

must be nice having two options hey ;)

I first saw Cavill when he was a teenager in The Count of Monte Cristo, which wasn't embarassing either. Super small role, but he did well enough in it.

That’s why I said “major role,” as in a lead. The stuff he was playing leads in before the Tudors were not pretty.

With OW, now, after Poppins, she may be too expensive and will be open to newer roles etc It could also be hard to tie her down.

However, if it were a reboot or like a new universe, similar to Reeves Batman, i could maybe see why it could appeal and have a stronger supporting cast with an unkown for superman.

What i liked on other threads about stories was parasite, and the ideas being thrown about reminded me of a good x files episode and it could work so well with the daily planet taking up much of the plot, with superman scattered around and saved for the finale, which then ofcourse, someone like OW would be awesome - her connections could possibly get in Steve Carrel as Perry.

Olivia Wilde is in Poppins???

oh man.... did i just drop the ball. Emily Blunt is in poppins, why did i get the two mixed up? Olivia wilde would be great.... perfect casting...

Or Olivia Wilde would make a great Lois Lane re-cast as well

I take it back - great choice and fits in with the older, mature lois i wanted... great call.

Then with a re-cast for Lois you also need a re-cast for Clark and knowing DC they will want someone with name recognition to replace Cavill someone who is as big a star but who?

No worries, we've all been there, lol.

But for the record, I don't support Olivia as Lois. I've just always found her extremely lacking in charisma/presence.

And I agree no recasting Lois unless you recast Cavill. I'm in total support of recasting both, however. Recast Cavill with another unknown as always, get a "name" for Lois.

It's a real shame that more couldn't have been achieved with the great cast of MoS. I thought they would be hanging around for a long time. :csad:

My shortlist for actors who could replace Cavill as Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman

- Tom Hopper
- Boyd Holbrook
- Garrett Hedlund
- Jamie Dornan
- Matt Bomer
- Kit Harington
- Armie Hammer
- Oscar Isaac
- John Krasinski
- Sam Claflin

I wouldn't like most of that list, but Tom Hopper's one that never occurred to me that I could kinda see working (if they gave him the right hair, of course). He's like a bigger, buffer Patrick Wilson to me.

Superman: Ben Walker
Lois Lane: Rachel Brosnahan
Lex Luthor: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
Perry White: Bob Odenkirk

Waldau would be okay. Brosnahan as Lois is the real winner there, though.

Great, now I just want a Marvelous Mrs. Maisel reunion for Superman but Zachary Levi’s Shazam. Kevin Pollak as Perry White is still a possibility, though.

I think Alec Baldwin more or less is the favorite for Perry White
