I've tried for years to think of a good role for Malkovich, but his acting style is so unique, it's hard. Maybe Brainiac? Or he'd probably be best as some random villain that's sort of poorly defined, where he can just do his own thing with it.

If I'm making a new Superman movie, it will be a retelling of the origin (new needs the show Krypton blowing up again, I just mean restarting at the beginning of his career), with Clark fresh out of college with his journalism degree starting as an intern at the daily planet. Having said that, I have a feeling most people hate my picks for the rule of Clark Kent / Superman, but try to keep an open mind, and realize that if I was in a director or producer spot, I would have to screen test these guys first, which means that I might surprise you all, or have to admit my mistake LOL.

I see Ansel Elgort in the role. 6 foot 4, athletic (and Hollywood has the best trainers in the world that helped him put on the extra 20 lb of shoulder and chest muscle), good looking with a warm goofy smile, well known enough for his name to be on the poster, but not so well-known that you think he's too big for the role. As we know, Superman is usually best cast with somebody who isn't an a-list star. Ansel is on his way to be an a-lister, but he's not quite there yet. as I said, I know some people will not like this idea, but I think it's at least worth looking into.

Another person I would consider, or at least have audition would be Ben VanderMey (who ironically had a bit part in Baby Driver). He's a big kid, who has such an All-American athletes look it's practically a caricature.
