The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

I love Bruce Campbell but he ain’t Superman imo. A Superman actor has t give off that feeling of warmth and Campbell gives off the vibe that he lives himself lol

The thing is, Bruce always comes off like a jerk but I think that’s just his movie persona. I don’t know the guy personally but he seems like a good dude. About 10 years ago, I went to this horror convention and he was the keynote speaker. Unfortunately, the theater where he was supposed to speak didn’t have the capacity to hold all the fans. But Bruce actually came out and walked through the line of people that had no chance of getting in, talking a bit with us and posing for some photos. I’ve always loved him for that.

Just here for the Corenswet love, haha. I’m two episodes into Hollywood and my partner and I were both like, “He NEEDS to play Superman!” He’s got the blue eyes, the spit curl, the midwestern charm/naïveté, the height, the build, and he looks damn good in a fedora. I like Cavill well enough but I have to say that Corenswet has him beat.

Cast him, WB!

Side note, I’ve also spent the quarantine watching Veep and I have to say that Timothy Simons (Jonah) would make an AMAZING Bizarro.

Oh now I have to watch Hollywood.

Oh I absolutely agree with you. I wasn’t trying to claim he was like that in real life. Watching him on documentaries & such I don’t get that vibe. But when acting he always gives off that vibe.

Yeah, I think he’s just most comfortable in that kinda persona. He was really awkward in the original Evil Dead when he was just playing the nice guy. But when he just decided to let Ash be an A-hole, the character became iconic.

Keanu Reeves back in the 90s made more sense as Batman but in the 90s they probably would have gone with Nicolas Cage as Superman

Yeah absolutely

I was not originally on the Corenswet train, but he has truly made me a believer. I think his Superman could be great, but after looking at this instagram page, I think his Clark Kent might set the standard. Dude is a dork trapped in the body of Superman. I loved the segment where he was reading the part of Romeo, and wasn't sure he was on, and introduced us to his cat, pure joy. My only fear is that he is a hot commodity at the moment, and Marvel will poach him for a smaller role and we could get stuck with someone else. I think he is the next C Reeve, if only WB could get its together. Dude is going places.

That angle of that pic makes Corenswet look kind of like John Krasinski. At least to me.
Like a less goofy-looking, more square-jawed John Krasinski, sure. I think I once actually described my ideal Clark Kent as looking like a cross between a GQ model and Jim Halpert, so...World, meet my ideal Clark Kent, lol.

No need to convince me, I'm on board.

I would actually like to see him in an adaption of Grant Morrison's Action Comics run.

I think that might be a little much for a first film, so I'd stick with Brainiac at first, but I'm not at all opposed to them going all-out bat**** with Vyndktvx and/or Mxyzptlk in a sequel.

Going back to 90s casting for a second, I've always had a perverse desire to see Arnold as Superman because 1. I'd love for there to be no explanation why a Kansas farm boy had an Austrian accent, 2. his Clark Kent would be one for the books and 3. I actually think he could have pulled it off.

He's a choice I can lean into based on his attributes and age, but based on looks I lean on James Wolk. He, to me, has a softer, but still more masculine look, to me, in comparison to Corenswet. Age wise though, Wolk is a little older than I prefer.

I like Wolk and he would be a crackerjack Clark, but I have the hardest time imagining him pulling off the Superman portion of the role when things get serious and he has to go into god mode. His face is too round and soft to be remotely intimidating, imo. That's where David's chiseled jaw and intense eyes give him the edge, imo. I also like David's voice better (and yes, I know James voices him on Harley Quinn, but that's a parody version, which is fine, like with Channing Tatum in the Lego movies. I wouldn't choose him to voice a serious version). I prefer Supes to have a deeper voice.

“Courteney Cox” is a weird way of spelling Matt LeBlanc. :o

for me chandler is the weak link with of course phoebe being the strongest.

also to the people in this thread please feel free to keep posting Corenswet pictures. For research of course

Yeah, the older I get, the more forced Chandler becomes. Ross sucks as a character, but Schwimmer is probably the strongest performer of the guys.

And here I am thinking Phoebe was always the weak link :funny:

As for Superman, it’s a no on James’s Wolk for me. Plus his age would factor him out imo.

I want Corenswet & I’m gonna next disappointed if our next Man of Steel isn’t him.

For the record, I am liking the above post not for the egregious Phoebe slander, but for the other stuff. :oldrazz:

Joey > Rachel > Chandler > Monica > Phoebe > Ross

Aniston > Perry > Cox > LeBlanc > Kudrow > Schwimmer

As far as Lois Lane goes, I get the Courteney Cox fancast (after the fact), but for me Lois looks like Jill Flint.
