The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

How are you supposed to watch the new episodes if you haven't seen what's happened before?

I think he should be built like Patrick Warburton.
A big ole farm boy type of body. Big but not body builder big.
Or like my buddy says, "he looks cornbread fed".

You think the casting call will read "twinks and himbos needed for secret project"? :smirk:

Being in one of the highest grossing films in the world will probably help this kid, Jamie Flatters (22), get an audition. Can't say I'm a fan of his look though.

Alright folks, here is your new Supes.

Probably should add that it's just a joke. He is some dude from the current home and away show that looked the most Superman like.

I hate sounding like a height nazi, but he's very short.

This guy might come across as too much of a dude-bro, but I really liked him in The Fabelmans.

I hope Gunn casts a young Henry Irons as a Superman fan boy like he is in the comics. He does not have to be Steele in this movie but maybe he is the subject of an article Clark is writing. Maybe Luther has him doing a project. I like the concept of Irons making the Luther Super suit. Love what there doing with Irons on Superman and Lois. Superman has a good family too.

You’re built for Perry White just fine, Bob.

He was in The Incredibles 2. Not sure what the difference would be, aside from one being live action and the other animated.

Bob Odenkirk called out for snooty hypocrisy in his anti marvel comments - is that what Scorsese started?

Matthew Mcfadyen said almost the exact same thing and ended up on Deadpool 3. Ethan Hawke had made similar comments and ended up in Moon Knight. These actor statements have a tendency of ending up pretty worthless.

And to be fair, Odenkirk sounds a lot less dismissive about the idea than Ethan Hawke did, if I recall.

It comes to a point where these guys are just playing hard to get.

They all say this 'til they're offered the right role/paycheck. Don't blame 'em or hold 'em to it.

The number one quality that Supes needs is being a dork. Not once did I ever think Cavill's Clark was a dork, I don’t care how many livestreams he does of building his own PC’s.

Yeah, Cavill has a self-serious quality about him that he can't seem to shake, even when on-screen. That he tends to enunciate his words a little too strongly when affecting an American accent (a common mistake with British amateurs) makes it even worse IMO.

I could really see him as Nightwing , assuming their going for a Batman in his 40s ,in terms of looks.

Though, I have to admit, i've never seen him act.
He does have a retro, late 1970s to early 1980s type of vibe and look going , and he'd be a pretty good age to have been Batman's sidekick at one point.

Thank you, You articulated my issue with his American accent! I think his Superman performance was very negatively affected by his American accent.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn accent is even worse. Those were two of the most positively received castings in the DCEU and I thought they were both pretty bad partly because of those accents.

Not everyone is going to be a Bale. There are a lot of bad American accents. I’m hoping for an American Superman this time.
