The HULK Thread - Part 1

The story of Hulk's bed according to the Conceptual Designer and Head of Sculpture for Thor Ragnarok.
That bed was once one of Hulk's conquests as a gladiator on Sakaar and he just made it into a bed.

Haha, pretty cool. Even the bed has a back story.

I would buy that bed. I'm actually looking for a new bed right now.

Lot of work went into that. Only right for King Hulk

So Hulk had sex with a dragon? This movie really is more daring!

I would love for Thor to ask about the bed and to get a flash back of Hulk battling the monster.

That is what I think has always been the essence of Hulk's persona, he just wears it on his sleeve. If someone is doing something to him, he lets them know. If someone is hurting someone he considers a friend, he lets them know. There are people trying to do harm to himself and those he likes, and those that aren't. That is pretty much it. WWH could've been avoided had they just attempted to talk to him about finding a place he may have wanted to just inhabit without people bugging him, lol.

Well said.

The only Banner incarnation that had the traits but deviated from this somewhat was the Gray Hulk. He was mean spirited, desired the finer things in life, ruled by his appetite of lust and greed; yet still he was still inherently good. He could not stand bullies or those that preyed on the weak.

Happy Bruce is a nice sight.

Wouldn't that technically depower Hulk though? :P

While I've come to realize that not every aspect of a comic book character can translate well to the big screen, personality is not one of them. The Hulk's movie franchise could have greatly benefited by originally going forward with the Savage/Child-like Hulk's personality as written in the style of writers by the likes of Len Wein, Steve Englehardt or Roy Thomas. He's not "dumb", he's Child-like in that he keeps things simple and right or wrong calls it like he sees it. Usually it was those characters that got past the fear of his imposing figure and surly attitude that realized it.

Well said. That's why I don't think the real Hulk has ever really been onscreen before.

It now occurs to me that between dueling Thor and presumably taking a shot at Hela at some point during the Bifrost showdown, we're going to see how Hulk fares against alien/god swords.

Will they cut him or just have impact force on him? Will we finally see some healing factor for MCU Hulk? Oh man, this is part of the fun of taking him off Earth, because now we get to see him be really challenged and facing things that could actually severely harm him... Or not, maybe he'll just no-sell, face tank everyones's attacks save for Surtur, who should be able to swat him like a bug. *Shrug*

From what we have seen already it looks like Thor & Valkyrie are going to team up against Hela. Loki is gonna team with gladiators from Sakaar to take down the "living dead asgardians" and Hulk is going to first have to take on Fenris Wolf who in my view probably ends up being Hela's pet and her muscle basically. That would join up Fenris and Garm characteristics into one beast.

I totally agree. While I admit the Bruce Banner Hulk has at least four favorable incarnations to choose from, none have yet to see the light of day on television or the big screen in live action.

I agree that taking Hulk off world is a plus. I am hoping that they show some of his incredible healing abilities as well. I don't feel certain characters like Hulk, Thor or Superman are too powerful, but I do feel they need real believable threats to them that gives the audience a level of concern; whether those threats are other beings or technological. Hopefully Sakaar in Thor Ragnarok has many of the same threats Hulk faced in the Planet Hulk comic.

Man i can't wait to see Hulk vs Fenris Wolf. These 2 beast are going to battle it out on Asgard, in the water, under the rainbow bridge, next to the "abyss"... it will be amazing. I checked the trailer, made a direct comparison and by the looks of it Hulk is right next to that waterfall edge when Fenris jumps at him. Right next to those rocks.

And by the way these next shots are from another scene. They one on top of the rainbow bridge and i guess they go at it and fall down to the water just to continue their battle there.

Yep that fight looks great, can't wait to see Hulks role in this.

Well, we know how that fight ends.

Hulk pushing Fenris off the edge.

Awe. Fenris is cute.

I was thinking the same thing, I would be very satisfied with that outcome.

I think Fenris is far to though for that lol.
