    Happy Independence Day, Guest!

The HULK Thread - Part 1

Yes I need to read that.

Yes I need to read that.

The House of M tie-ins are part of Peter David's (second) run on Incredible Hulk. It was great, even though it didn't last enough... Anyway, it's well worth reading!

Thanks. I'm surprised I haven't already read this before but I definitely don't recognise that cover as I would have remembered.

The white markings on Hulk are similar to what he wore in the House of M storyline.

I'm positive that's where they got it from.

Confirmation that those heads on the side of the palace are indeed past champions and those character actually exist in the MCU.

So Hulk must have beaten one of these guys to become the champion, I wonder who.

“There might be some things in the trash piles. I mean, the biggest*– the biggest Easter eggs are on the side of the Sakaaran Palace, right Taika? There are previous Grandmaster champions that we see, as one for Hulk is being constructed, and those are all sort of Easter eggs for the deeper comic universe, that may or may not ever show up in the cinematic universe, but we thought it’d be fun to celebrate.”

True! Incredible Hulk tie-ins from HoM were pretty good, btw.

Yes, I enjoyed those stories. They were impactive to Hulk lore for many reasons. It showed that the Gravage/Green Scar Hulk, who's of average intelligence, has a natural inclination to be a ruler. Also, the events from that story lead to Hulk placing himself in self exile only to be bought out by the superheroes he believed to be his friends in order to save the planet from rogue high tech machinery. After finding out he was duped, he was shuttled into outter space by those same heroic friends to an "ideal" planet suited for him. Of course that went wrong and the events led to the Planet Hulk story, where Hulk ultimately became King of Sakaar.

I'm positive that's where they got it from.

Yes sir. I agree.

Oh okay so House of M is a direct lead in to Planet Hulk.

Oh okay so House of M is a direct lead in to Planet Hulk.

No, it was the story before the story that lead to Planet Hulk. But it leads to the Peace in Our Time story that showed Hulk placing himself in exile away from everyone. The Peace in Our Time story shows you why Hulk was so mad at the heroes and why his anger was festering during Planet Hulk.

Oh okay

It gets better every few years due to the mocap improvement. They're pretty much doing the digital de-aging thing on a higher scale.

Definitely looks best in the Ragnarok shot to me.

I still prefer the ripped Hulk design from The Incredible Hulk 2008, I like his facial design better as well.

I find nothing wrong with 2008's design either that could not have been tweaked.

2008's design coupled with today's ILM CGI would be something else!

The 2008 version didn't work for me. Leaned too far in the "rage Hulk" direction. Kinda limited what they could do with him. Any calmer moments (like in the cave with Betty) didn't work as well because he was designed around "rage".

The concept art for the 2008 movie is my favourite Hulk design.

I remember thinking this was going to be his design in TIH.

I can swear they released this as a "first official look" from Hulk in the film.

Guess I was wrong...

Indeed it would be.

Worked pretty well with me, he emoted pretty well when Abomination jumped on top of the helicopter and Hulk was looking like "Ugh, this guy again".

Yeah, Norton's Hulk just looked perpetually angry, even when he wasn't being aggressive. Which honestly was probably an aesthetic choice. You never knew if he was just gonna ****ing snap, like when he kicked Blonsky for **** talking him.

I forgot how fat Hulk's face was in The Avengers.

Meh, I prefer the RuffaHulk design by Hulk sized leaps and bounds over TIH. Even with updated graphics, I think the design philosophy of Leterrier's vision for the Hulk (absolutely zero body fat, extremely sinewy tissue, lean body type, desaturated but heavy green hue) would still result in a plastic looking, action figurey Hulk. I appreciate the work Rhythm and Hues put into that Hulk but I can't say I'm a fan of the parameters they had to work with.

ILM's entire design philosophy just really clicks to create not only a more realistic look but to me, but a more true to form Hulk. Hulk should be bulky, not lean with a triangle shaped torso. And a square lower jaw helps too, rather than a "pretty boy" narrow chin.

But hey, that's just like, my opinion man.
