Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 1

I don't really care that much about the realism aspect as superheroes are not real to begin with.

To each his own. To me the suit makes his lower body look oddly long. Then the headpiece just looks odd, maybe it's the triangular eye design. I generally think simpler designs look better vs textured.

I really like how the costume makes his torso look. I will agree though, the triangles over the eyes are my biggest issue probably.

I am not a fan of the belt either. Maybe one buckle would look better or a blackened buckle. I am super picky about suits. Most shots will probably be darker than the one above tho.

While I hate the chest area and am OK with the thing over the eyes. To me, that's at least relatively subtle and is only noticeable when standing still.

I watched Fox's version of Daredevil last night and had a real good chuckle. The gap in quality is tremendous, to say the least.

The Daredevil movie was very much a product of its time. It tried to mimic the success of Raimi's Spider-man (complete with Matrix-esque actions and martial arts) with a bit of a darker edge, to little success. In fairness, it came before the golden age of superhero movies, where it seems that studios and filmmakers have generally figured out how to successfully craft superhero films for the most part.

It has its moments. I really liked Ben Affleck, actually. Also Jon Favreau as Foggy was great (but I just love him as an actor too, he makes me laugh). Kingpin was also awesome, but it didn't remind me of the Kingpin I grew up with much. But it was a nice take on him. The action scenes were actually pretty well done, especially the fight in the bar at the beginning.

I think one thing that REALLY hurt the movie for me is the use of stupid popular songs in it. You know, the funeral scene...Matt training as a kid......Elektra training. Ugh. It is so corny and really dates the movie. The overall story was good to me but it gets knocked down a few for being too hokey at too many points. The Director's Cut is better than the original, but it is still flawed.

It is NOT the worst superhero movie ever by any means. It is better than Amazing Spider-Man 2 or Catwoman at least.

I rather liked the Director's cut. Haven't seen the theatrical cut. Yeah it was a bit too over the top at times but I found it humorous and the action was decent. The suit was honestly pretty decent.

I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan of the movie suit. Everything seemed too shiny and off. Also, is this page for every characters suit or just Daredevil's? Saw this on another forum. A pretty decent idea of how Elektra could look if she is associated/still part of The Hand in the second season.

I liked the nunchuk-club he had in the movie. Also the way they depicted his senses wasn't bad.

Looks pretty much exactly how I visualize her.

There are parts of the movie that worked, you could tell there was some genuine effort. It's just that the film makers weren't talented enough, and the studio certainly made things worse as well.
People praise the directors cut and there really is a much better movie in that version than the theatrical one, but they are both irredeemably terrible.

Re-watching the episode last night, right at the end montage before he jumps off the roof he does the awful batman shoulder turn to move his head. That really took me out for a split second. He has a seperate neck so they should really avoid movements like that it looked so bulky and clumsy. While I understand the creators said they gave him a nose cover for protection and to stop people from knowing its Matt, take off the damn nose. I would really be a happy campier if we got somthing close to this, it looks streamlined, and screams DD.

I really like that, except for the collar. Looks like the collar from the 2003 movie.

Just been looking at the Deadpool movie costume again. Damn, you look at that and can almost imagine that as a D/D outfit, with the obvious tweeks, of course. The fit and the colours are great.

^ Yeah, I agree. The Deadpool costume's fabric and texture are perfect.

Yeah, I'd like to avoid that.

I also think it's fair to say the nose bridge isn't going away. It's a practical issue concerned with stunt doubles. Although if you look at some of the covers Michael Lark drew for Daredevil, the nose is pretty covered anyway. Not all the way to the tip of the nose, but pretty far down. Maybe there is room for compromise based on that. Hopefully they could do some screen tests and see how it looks.

Easily the worst shot of the show.

Yeah his club(s) was awesome in the movie and I as well really liked his senses, Shadowworld I believe they called it. It's funny though that in the comics he mentions several times that rain messes with his senses, yet in the movie it's the complete opposite.

Weeeeeeeelll, TECHNICALLY superheroes are real. But they're usually nerds running around in costumes stopping purse snatching and stuff. So I'm not sure if that counts. BUT! If you look at other real life heroes like Policemen and Army Soldiers. They where armor and/or bullet proof vests to protect themeselves. Not skin tight spandex that makes them look cool.

HOWEVER! I would not object to if DD did undergo a few costume changes to make it more comic similar. Overall in complete in total honesty I like the current costume design and think all it really need is a DD somewhere.

I finally finished the show last night. During the Daredevil/Fisk fight in the finale, there are some shots where the suit looks great in the dark lightning. But other than that, the suit is s***ty. The mask sucks. The cut of the costume around the neck area makes Daredevil look like he has a double chin. Good thing Potter said it wasn't finished yet. They really need to make the suit look awesome in season 2.

I know it's really a tough job, but I hope they tweak it so it'll provide as much mobility as possible. I really loved the black suit for that reason, because he was just a beast in it, and the red suit kinda restricted his movement so he looked stiff.

Yeah, that's why I'm fine with a regular fabric material. I think it's the same mistake the movie made with the leather suit and most movies make. Spider-Man is one of the few who did it right. I thought the whole point of inventing this sci-fi material the Kingpin had was to use a light fabric and pretend it was ultra durable.

I don't have a real problem with the suit except for the squinty look the face mask has. If people don't suspect he's blind they probably at least think he needs glasses.

Am I wrong to think his cowl actually looks/fits better? Especially the eye area.
