Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 1

I preferred the black suit, to be honest. Aside from the cheaper material, its the type of outfit the red suit should be, IMO: something that looks sleek, simple, and ninja esque.

The way I feel about the final outfit is the same way I feel about the TDK/TDKR Batman suit. Sure, you still reocgnize the character, but its far from the ideal live action outfit.

I just love his natural bulk. The extra armor to make him look even bigger wasn't needed.

I thought the suit looked awesome in the show itself. However, I think it could be improved if they made the cowl less busy (eyebrows... really?) and maybe made the black parts red... but those are just nitpicks, I really liked the final product.

I agree. Some characters don't need the whole "militarized" look, and for me, DD is one of those characters.

While I don't disagree with you in theory, the makers of this show went out of their way in every fight to demonstrate why this version of DD definitely does need that. It wasn't chosen for the look, but for the practicality. For all his flipping around and bullet dodging, MCU DD was still getting seriously injured on a nightly basis.

I know, and while I can understand that story point, it was unnecessary, IMO...especially when this guy lives in the same world as Black Widow, a woman who takes on trained killers and aliens in a body suit that looks less protective than the DD one.

Yeah, that's a good point. I think the best of both worlds would be if future costume iterations streamline things a bit more without completely throwing out the logic that was developed to get us to this first costume.

It's not so much the suit that I don't like, it's the cowl/helmet. I wish they went with a cloth one, instead of giving him an actual helmet. I love the way the black mask looks.

Now that the shows out I wish we could get some proper high res promo shots of the suit that show everything in decent lighting, that we could use as wallpapers and stuff but also to base manips on.

I like that they went with the helmet because they immediately utilized it In the final fight. And one less concussion matt had to worry about.

Eh, I don't think it was really needed. Sure, it's practical, but you don't see someone like Black Widow worried about getting hit in the head. And I doubt they'll actually give Iron Fist a helmet as well, and he's another close quarter combatant. Heck, he managed pretty well the entire show not to get a critical hit to the head. Of course the moment he puts on the helmet, he can't dodge a very obvious swing from Fisk.

Very good pt there..unless they are telling me bw is a much better fighter than matt in the mcu at this pt? Maybe because dd just started out? Just a thought

I feel like most of his protection is necessary. I mean matt too more damage than just about anyone else in the mcu On screen. so i feel like him having protection is very justified. Maybe he could go without the helmet, but it doesn't bother me any that he has one.

God do I love both costumes. I love his black suit and I really love the red one too. Can't wait to see more of it down the road and see if they alter it just ever so slightly.

DD Doesn't use guns and tech and puts himself in a lot more danger than BW or Wilson Fisk..he needs the protection

I think that's just it, Kingpin suit was knife-proof but probably not much more than that. So I assume that the black parts on DDs suit are bulletproof.
At least I hope so, cuz that's the only thing that makes sense in making it so bulky.

I may be in the minority, but I really like the suit. The overall silhouette and elements work well together. I'd say it's something closer to what Batman would wear than Daredevil, but for an early design it's pretty cool. It looks movie quality, which is rare for TV stuff. DD would fit right in alongside the Avengers. I'm also appreciate some of the subtle elements. If you look closely he has a double loop D-ring belt, the shiny metal on them stand out to allude to the classic DD logo. That's a very smart way to sneak it in there before he even has the name. Hopefully the suit will be redesigned to be a tad brighter and loose some of the metal grommets and black details for the Defenders. It should evolve as Matt becomes more of a hero and less of a vigilante.

I thought the suit was pretty cool. Better than the black suit to me definitely, which grew on me and had it's charm, but it wasn't really a costume at the end of the day. I like mixture of black and red, the details on the helmet. I just wish we had seen it earlier though, but at least we saw it for at least one fight with Kingpin and not just five minutes at the end after everything was finished.

After they showed that Fisk's business suit just looked normal (but with armor underneath), I was hoping DD's suit didn't look as armored up as what they decided to go with. Something less obvious would've been cool.

Out of curiosity I would be interested to see what the suit would look like if it were photoshopped into the yellow and red of the comic suit based on his father's boxing colours.

If it were streamlined to look more like this, I'd probably be really happy.

I can live with most of the suit, but I just really hate the entire chest and stomach area.
