Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 2

I cant be the only one that would like to see the suit end up looking like this at the end of S3

It's better. I don't have a specific final preference, just complaints about the current one (although I enjoyed it for the most part).

Make all the black red and it'd be fine. It's basically a simplified version of the current one. I'd prefer the shapes on the torso to more closely correspond to human anatomy/muscle groups though.

If S01E13 costume was a 5/10
and the black accented version at the beginning of S02 was a 6/10

I know some people don't seem to agree, but they're identical - or at least effectively identical. If there's ANY difference between them whatsoever, it's never visible in the actual episodes.

No pouches. Please. No one in the films ever uses their pouches other than Black Widow in IM2. I took a pass at the drawing you posted, only made the colors a little less intense and more pleasing. I would also play with the chest design but didn't have the time.

I wouldn't say perfect. It definitely looks better but the nose still bugs me and the red of the cowl doesnt match the color of the rest of the suit. Both very distracting. Plus they should add the DD in a creative way.

If S01E13 costume was a 5/10

The newest one was barely a 7/10

Even Ben Afflecks was better than that (8/10?). I really wish they'd just fix the damn thing too because the black costume in S01 was like... borderline 10/10.

What's your problem with the nose? I have always liked Affleck's suit, but I think the new netflix suit is better. I would give Affleck's suit a 6/10, and the new netflix suit a 8/10.

I've never seen a single DD costume from the comic that covers the nose. Now, creative liberties don't inherently bother me, but that difference in his costume separates him from the already very prominent comparison he gets with Batman.

Other than that, it just bugs the crap out of me. Looks silly.

Right, I can understand that. But the old showrunner said that they covered his nose because otherwise you could tell that it was Cox behind the mask, and it was also more noticeable when they switched to a stunt double. Those pictures weren't the best, but I think the cowl looks amazing here.

And wouldn't Daredevil's suit without the nose covered look more like the Flash's suit, than it does Batman's now?

The "could tell it was cox" reasoning I dont agree with. i mean, look at clark kent. No one generally cares about that. Matt Murdock's greatest secret identity is that he's blind. No one expects it anyway so no one puts it together. Plus it's ALWAYS night time when he's costumed.

More noticeable when they switch to a stunt double is slightly more understandable, but also sounds slightly lazy.

okay now that, is a point i hadn't considered. And makes me feel a tad better overall. Thanks :P

The stunt double one is one I'll defer on. They've done the screen tests. They know better than we do about these things. It's not like they're saying "no, the nose we have is cooler than the comic." They're just saying it's necessary for television.

Haha, I have always hated that about Clark Kent. You have to admit that a secret identity consisting of a couple of glasses would never work in this show. But, otherwise I see your point. And you're welcome. :cwink:

The new cowl is an incredible piece of work. I would love to see a Batman cowl that slim and form fitting.

I'll admit I did like that we got to see him take the cowl off/put it back on in real time (only a couple times but still). It doesnt happen much in superhero flicks (Batman, Spider-Man etc.)

Although it's kinda funny that he fixes his hair after taking it off (at least twice). :P Could be chalked up to wiping his brow but still.

In the light the mask does look silly (luckily it's mostly dark) - the expression looks like he's turning his nose up at a bad smell or something!
I would prefer the classic, no-nose cowl of Daredevil, but I suppose nose protection is a good idea if you're fighting every night.
I do however like how the eye lenses look red in certain scenes.
My only other gripe is the same one I have with the TV Flash's suit... why are these TV companies scared of making the costumes actually red? Lighten them up a bit!

Red is a notoriously difficult color to film. Most red costumes are made in a darker or less saturated tone because it looks better on camera and gives them more freedom for color correction during post-production.

Yeah, it was very pleasing to the eyes. I think the costume overall is really, really good. Can't say I would change much about it.

I really like the suit Daredevil has now, and I love the new cowl, but I do think they could make some improvements. I know many have complained about the segmented black parts, and while I do think that there needs to be some black to break up the red, I don't love the way it looks now. I would take inspiration from the new Wonder Woman suit, and how good it blends red with black.

It looks seamless and not as segmented as it does on Daredevil's suit. It could also make the suit look a little burnt, which is fitting, considering that he uses a devil motif. And it would make it look closer to the suit from the comics, where they use shadow to break up the suit in a similar way.

The material would of course not be the same as the one Wonder Woman's suit uses. I think they could still use the same material as they already use on the red parts of the Daredevil suit, because I really like how it looks. It looks strong, but not too strong. Maybe they could use another shade of red though.

I guess if it was too bright it would stick out like a sore thumb or something? I mean, can someone manip the DDvNinja poster above a brighter red? I wanna see how it looks.

I would love if they changed the suit to something more form fitting. Charlie looked a lot bigger and menacing on his black the suit than on the red one. I'm also not a big fan of the torso piece... They try should use different shades of red instead of black. Keep the new cowl and gloves but change the rest.

Anyone else think the showrunners could potentially evolve the suit to something below. Not too many steps to get to this point for season 3. It would need to be beefed up a bit for use in combat and I'd personally prefer the symbol be smaller, but the overall general aesthetic fits with the direction gone so far
