Daredevil The Inevitable Costume Thread - Part 2

Anyone else think the showrunners could potentially evolve the suit to something below. Not too many steps to get to this point for season 3. It would need to be beefed up a bit for use in combat and I'd personally prefer the symbol be smaller, but the overall general aesthetic fits with the direction gone so far

Oh man... No way and that red is just way too bright. The darker blacks/reds in the costume are what make it look believable and not cheesy on screen.

The lighting certainly doesn't help, that was taken at a con I believe...Something like this in the darker, richer tones of the Netflix costume.

Yes and no. I know what you mean, but I wouldn't want it looking too much like that. I like the lace-up boots though - which the Netflix suit currently has anyway.

I think the Netflix costume is too dark. If the suit is to be two-tone, then the parts that are currently black should be the same "red" as the currently red parts, and the red parts should be a few shades lighter (Ezra Miller's Flash suit is a pretty good example of this colour combination). It needs to pop a bit more than it does.

Looking at the Hot Toys, I'm just sort of turned off by all the black in the costume. IMHO, it's too much. I think if there were some black pieces of trim it'd be fine. But just too much black clashing with the red.

Link doesn't work. Maybe host it yourself and post that link?

ETA: I will speak generally - I don't like the black in the costume. That was my number one complaint even when people were complaining about the mask, etc. I'm OK with texture, but I'd like it to be variants of red. I'm hoping Defenders or Season Three result in some upgrades.

I don't mind the black, in fact I've grown to like it, but I've always wondered why they just didn't use variants of red for texture. I don't think the showrunners are done with the evolution of the suit, so we may still see it.

after rewatching both season, I like the second suit more, but prefer the first helmet.

And just thinking about it & looking at it, I think a helmet similar to Capt America's would work best. Have the helmet cover the entire head, front to back; have a strap that attaches to the helmet and covers his entire jawline.

He already has part of the suit that covers his neck all the way up to his jaw (like a turtleneck).

The second suit is pretty much the same though, isn't it? I think the only differences I noticed was he got new gloves, and I think the red shoulder pads/panels became red for season 2.

I really just want less black and the DD symbol.

The 2nd suit seems more red than the 1st. I just mean the shading. The 1s seemed to go back & forth between red and a kind a purple-ish color...depending on the lighting

The problem with red costumes on characters you mostly see at night time is that if you make it the shade of red you actually want it to be, it'll look too dark when you're actually filming at night. To make it look the way you actually want it, you have to go brighter. That way, you don't get Daredevil and The Flash running around in what looks like brown or purple.

I think the first Flash TV series did it pretty well.

Is this a joke or...? Cause it doesn't look great and thats a promotional shot. I think Daredevil's look is pretty good. add just a bit more red while keeping the black to help balance it and i think it's one of the most solid MCU costume looks.

I mean, its obviously an older costume with older production values, but it looks fine, the coloring especially.

Yeah, the shading on the 1990 Flash suit was done really well. People can say what they want about the overall design aesthetic, the bulk and the texture etc, but the colour was great.

The shading is another aspect about the 1990 costume I really like. Yeah the costume is a little dated, but I like what it brought to the table in terms of aesthetic.

Nowadays the film and TV costumes are all about functionality and practicality. Which is fine, I get it, but I don't like it happening at the cost of all the iconic elements.

I understand that people want costumes ripped right from the page but that doesn't always work for every hero. Since the entirety of the MCU has its fashion follow it's functionality, that's how it's going to be. Plus, a body suit like the Flash's above would be hard to watch while tackling the heavier themes the show has.

Deadpool wore his costume through most of the movie and was ripped right from the comics. They even gave him animated, shape-changing eyes.

Yes and that's the Fox universe. It's completely different world. Though it's a good argument point for the X-Men universe and their awful costumes.

I like it, but would make it a darker red.

Something like that with the DD symbol I would really appreciate.

That's pretty cool, but I don't really care what they do with the suit now, it's almost always in the dark anyway.

I really like that.
