there's no way this is the final instalment.....

Sure feels like the final installment. I'd bet RDJ signs up for two more Avengers movies but that we don't get another Iron Man flick until after they do a full recast post-Avengers 3

Pepper is becoming more and more strawberry blonde than actual redhead. Wasn't she redder in IM1?

Why is that?

Why is that?
Finally using Iron Man's single iconic villain, his most popular recent story arc, plus all of the "40 suits" business

And Shane Black keeps calling it the "culmination of the trilogy"

I don't think it would be the final installment. They're making the MCU open-ended so I don't see limiting IM to 3 solo movies doing any good.

I assumed it was the final installment lol

Even if it's open-ended, like the comics, there will still be arcs, like the comics, and those arcs will have beginnings, middles, and ends.

And I seriously doubt they will recast Iron Man while Evans and Hems are still going strong. I assume they'll just forego the solo Iron Man flick in phase 3.

^ Yeah, I feel the same. It won't be a reboot after Avengers 3, but a new actor, new arc, and possibly different feel/tone for the franchise. Not unlike going from one writer's run to another's in the comics.

That's a good point, they're not going to recast the anchor of the MCU while the other actors are still running off of RDJ's energy, especially if he's still playing IM in the Avengers series, they're not going to recast him in a solo series running simultaneously.

I like the idea of the James Bond-inspired ongoing continuity with new actors, that way we don't get origins over and over again.
Is true that it's gonna be extremely hard for an actor to follow Robert Downey Jr's steps (talking about Iron Man in this case) but if it worked for Sean Connery/Daniel Craig it can work for Iron Man too. The characters are bigger than the actors.

I wonder what happens if Iron-Man 3 is really good ( like first film) if that might change there opinion about limiting RDJ Ironman to just 3 films, I could see a fourth ironman for phase III

Daniel Craig didn't have to follow Connery when he left his tenure. He probably wasn't even born when the first Bond movie came out. It didn't quite work for George Lazenby or for Timothy Dalton as they were different from their predecessors. I agree the characters are bigger than the actors, but Connery to Craig isn't the right example.

This is exactly what I think will happen.

OK, fair enough, the time lapse is not a good example, but what I mean is the comparisons between Bonds were already established and that didn't stop the franchise from building up to 25 films all these years.

Gwyneth looks hot in this pic holding IM's helmet:

I wonder if she polishes it.....

^What else would she be good for?

:o

The Iron Man 3 trailer has been shown in London at an Avengers Blu-Ray/DVD event in Hammersmith. My friend attended. He gave me a jumbled description, but it sounds like a slightly different SDCC trailer and NOTHING like that supposed description a few weeks ago, so I'm assuming that's fake.

Before you ask, they collected in all phones and cameras so no one filmed it.

One thing I always imagined the gold in IM's armour as (before the movie was made) was being shiny and reflective and almost chrome-like, like a musical instrument - eg a French Horn, Trumpet or Saxophone. They never did do a gold like that. It was always a duller look and the new armour is almost a cream gold.
