The Joker Thread - Part 1

Joker got nominated for 11 Oscars. Bodes quite well for Joaquin to win Lead Actor.

He had some good dark comedy. :)
I literally can't think of a scene of Heath's where there WASN'T humor of some kind

The way he shoots his goon without looking or sheepishly walks over to the bank manager in the beginning

The magic trick/mockery of the mobsters the entire mob meeting scene

" There's only one spot open right now SO we're gonna have ... TRYOUTSSSm"

Dumping champagne out of a glass and pretending to drink it anyway

I mean the list goes on and on. I remember when my friends and I first went to see TDK they couldn't stop laughing at moments like those

But ya know . "He 2 $eriou$ , he ju$$a depre$$ed anarki$t in da kLaOwN mAyCuP, nAhT dA 1 TR00 J0KUR LOLOLOL"

I always thought it was kind of hilarious how when he's doing his "tonight you're all gonna be part of a social experiment" speech to the ferry passengers, when we finally actually see him, he's reading it off a piece of paper, like he had to write down his Villain Monologue first.

Good examples. He was a very witty Joker.

"The suit, it ain't cheap, you oughta know you bought it."

"Lets not "blow" things out of proportion."

Gambol: You think you can steal from us and just walk away?
Joker: Yeah.

Oh, everyone beat me to it haha.

The thing is he didn't look like the Joker I wanted but he acted like him. Whereas the other looked like he should have but didn't act enough like him.

Heath's joker is, in my eyes, the most accurate to the character. His motivations, his relationship with Batman, and his reason for existing is all true to the character from the comics and I'm very curious as to how anybody could deny that.

He no fall in acid tank thingy

A--a-and he no have da...

Da joybuzzer

so if joaquin wins for joker (which he will) how much will wb pay him to be in the batman 2?
Please God know, Arthur works as an Elseworlds Joker, who is the protagonist of his own story. He does not work as an adversary for a heroic Batman. It should be kept separate.

You throw enough money to anybody they'll agree to your terms unless you're Dave Chappelle.

WB will 100% ask him, but I don’t think it’s likely he would take on the role again. I kind of see him acting like Bale w/ Nolan and saying he’d only play Joker again with Todd Phillips behind the camera.

Its funny how people try to use that as a way to bring Heath's joker down from the pedestal it still belongs on. Never forget how they tried to discredit TDK by saying it's not a CBM. Ironically, some people are doing that with Joker too

I'd be fine with either route. As much as I love Phoenix's version of Joker, if it's left to only one film I' be happy and grateful he finally took it on at least once. But if he appears in other films and Phoenix has a chance to tackle the character alongside Batman and others I'd have no qualms with that as long as it's a good film with proper execution. I could absolutely see Phoenix's Joker going to war with a Batman. The grit and realism didn't expunge that potential, imo.

A villain is always the protagonist in his/her own journey. And certainly by the final scene you can argue that he’s not meant to be seen as a hero. So he can absolutely work going up against a more heroic Batman.
