Thank you Joss. Made the trilogy complete

*shudder* That was a bum note to start on. Luckily, it's the only time it looks THAT bad.

Looks like the Kryptonian dentist left thee cotton rolls in his mouth...:woot:

Is this seriously the best these VFX houses can do? They have full scans of these actors heads doing every imaginal expression in every type of lighting...
From what I read, the "waxed" his stash up so his lips could be seen so whats the deal with the teeth? The entire mouth should be his... not cg... :cmad:

The VFX people are not happy with this either, because they were given an impossible task in a very short amount of time. They did the best they could under the cirumstances...and it wasnt good.

I mean what purpose does this scene have? Nothing. It doesnt even have a payoff. This is just so lazy.

The purpose is to show that This Superman was accessible and not a cold and aloof superhero, that people loved him.

This. They were going full in for the "Everyone including Batman loved and misses Superman because he was great" thing, but the other movies just don't support that. So they used this scene for an awkward retcon.

Yeah while that might have been the intention(although unnecessary we see in MOS that he is neither cold or unfriendly. Aloof maybe, but that's because in the first movie he was finding his place in the world, and in the second because he was facing pubic crucifixion), the scene left you on a note of "what superman loves most about the world"....it was never answered. Not even a hint.

I am baffled by the hate for that opening scene with Superman. Easily the best part of the movie for me. It established that, while he had some moodier moments, that this Superman was still a good man who people looked up to. BvS portrayed him as a controversial figure, so that scene was needed to make the idea of a depressed world without Superman work. Plus, it is Henry's best scene in the cape so far and it's just really adorable.

That's not the least of it-- We watched the world mourn Superman, and then... Not react to his return. Do they even KNOW he returned?

THAT was my biggest gripe. The opening montage showed the world without Superman. Why no payoff? So disappointing.

People hated that awful CGI done not just to upper lip, but the whole jaw. Or, should I say,the CGI was jaw droppingly bad.

But they don't pay that off by showing how the world feels about him being back. The movie kinda just ends.

"‘Justice League’: Joss Whedon Wrote Opening Batman Scene"
https://heroichollywood.com/justice-league-joss-whedon-batman/

Holt McCallany said:
“I love Joss Whedon. My scene with Batman was originally conceived as a comedic scene. That’s how Joss wrote it, and that’s how we shot it. I thought it came out great, but the studio felt it would be a mistake to open the film with a completely comedic scene, so it was re-edited a little bit. I was disappointed, but when I got home to New York I found a bottle of my favorite Champagne and a note from Joss that said ‘To Battles Lost. Gratefully, Joss.’ I can’t tell you how much it meant to me that he took the time to write to me. Joss Whedon is a class act. I had the letter framed.”

So wait a minute, The cool opening scene everybody thought Snyder did, came from whedon but WB thought it was too funny so they changed that?

Calling the Movie a Frankenstein Monster really seems fitting.:woot:

The funny thing is before it was revealed that Whedon did the scene everybody loved that it. Post Whedon reveal most of the people were "Oh I knew it, it was a cartoon, bad shots" etc.

I was 100% certain it was Snyder's because of that shot of Batman waiting for that robber.

I liked the scene but people are pointing out a lot of stupid things in it, the thing is that I'm sure there are stupid things to be pointed out in every scene thanks to post production mess

I don't understand your wording. Yes, that cool scene was Whedon, but that scene, the TC version, was not too funny. The original version of that scene was written as a comedic scene, so they recut it into the version we've seen in the cinema.

Btw, do you know how I realized it was Whedon's scene right away? :woot: That weird Batman backflip. Snyder's action is always perfect in these regards. This felt off. But otherwise, very Snyderish, I agree.

I remember back in the day people despising the possibility of Whedon getting directing credit. Now it seems as though people in here are giving him as much credit as possible. Strange, very strange.

He should get that credit. So that people could stop blaming Snyder for scenes that weren't his.
