Instead of Emily Blunt I would choose Alice Eve as Sue Storm-Richards. And the tone would be Indiana Jones type adventure laced with Sci-Fi. And they should not spend too much time on Earth.

I love Emily Blunt, one of my fav actresses, but not Sue Storm at all....definite yes to Alice Eve however, she has been my choice since we heard about the reboot. Probably the one big disappointment for me. Kate Mara is a very good actress, but she is no where near the type for Sue Storm IMO. The "what could have been" is going to be the biggest hurdle to get over.

You'd really want Alice Eve in this low fi movie with the rest of this cast and an anti-social blogger Doom in what is likely to be a universally panned production?

Um, no....don't believe I said anything like that...

I think she simply meant Alice Eve would be her choice if she could fancast Sue Storm's part. However, I think most fans are relieved that most of their top choices for the various characters are not attached to this specific version of Fantastic Four movie as that would ruin any opportunity of using them in the future when an attempt is made to make an actual quality Fantastic Four film. I know I wouldn't want my top choices anywhere near this trainwreck.

Surfer

Exactly....

I have always stated that if they went with a known "big screen actress" for a stand alone, I wanted Charlize Theron, if they went with a "up and coming actress" for a series of movies, I wanted Alice Eve, and if they wanted an unknown in the arena of "big screen movies" I wanted AJ Cook. AND YES, I am glad that none of the above are anywhere near this train wreck, but if they were it would show me that Fox actually knew what the hell they were doing with this franchise and we would probably not be talking about a train wreck at the moment. ;)

True about that last part and I like your fancasting for Sue Storm. It's funny though, because even before the movie was thought to be truly in trouble (with the rumor of Josh Trank going off the deep end and the idea Fox feels they have a crap movie which is instigated by the fact there has been no promoting of the movie what so ever), I felt all of their casting of these beloved characters seemed to miss their mark by a mile and while many of them good actors & actresses I felt it was in these details of them not understanding the characters from the very beginning which suggested that this movie would fail hard. Almost a foreshadowing of sorts. It just seemed very telling.

Rachel McAdams is the personification of Sue Storm, in my mind's eye.

For my fancasting, I liked Alice Eve for Sue, Zack Efron for Johnny, Jason Beghe for Ben and Tom Hanks for Reed.

I like her too.

Doubt any of these high profile actors will touch FF after Fox releases this movie.

Yep, which is why I'm fancasting.

I have to add, I could see Clooney as Reed too, I think it was his role in Gravity that made me think about it.

My approach to Reed is someone who would have the confident presence and the acting ability where they would not have to go quip for quip with Robert Downey Jr. and and still convey in a way that they were in fact they are the smartest person in the room yet still come off likable and not obnoxiously arrogant.

I totally agree....of course the discussion of the casting took on a whole life of its own in the early days of this production, but IMO, the casting was probably the biggest indication that the people running this little show had absolutely no understanding of the 4 themselves. Though I understood that if a full on adaptation of UFF was a possibility, that was thrown out the window with the description of the direction Trank wanted to go. But yes, the cast was my first indication that this was not going to be an F4 movie that I would be happy with....

I think they would if it was MCU, I think actors are recognising that getting a role in a MCU film is good for their career. Just look at the line of actors that have said that they would be interested in a role.

I agree with you 100%, and more and more you hear about actors and actresses that previosly seemed to have no desire to star in a Marvel film state that they are open to it. So, yeah if Marvel got control, Fox could totally ruin this film and I feel Marvel would still be able to get some big names to star in their reboot. It is all about the brand.

Yeah, she would be a good choice also. She really has a girl next door type of feel to her that makes her seem more approachable and that would probably work well with the whole Fantastic Four family dynamic.

Surfer

On reflection, I strongly believe that people's perspectives are going to change and that Trank will actually be viewed as a genius film maker for what he has achieved here.

McAdams would be pretty good too. She was considered for the Tim Story FF films as well as The Dark Knight and Pepper in Iron Man but she turned the last 2 down.
I wonder if she doesn't really want to do a superhero role similar to Ryan Gosling. Maybe having a role with actual superpowers and not just as a love interest would change her mind.

However, idk McAdams does have a girl next door feel like Surfer mentioned which actually hold me back on fully supporting her. Not saying she'd be bad at all because shes a good actress. But I can't explain it.

I think the key is to get a very warm, charistmatic actress, if that makes sense. That's why I dont think Charlize Theron wouldnt be good. I like her as an actress, but Ive never seen her in a warm, charismatic role that makes me think she'd be a good fit.
Sue should be the "team mom" but she shouldnt come off as a stick in the mud. She should be the voice of reason while still having personality.

My top choice has been Jessica Chastain. I think Emily Blunt would be good too but she'd be better for Miss Marvel

Back then I wanted Elizabeth Banks far more than McAdams....I was never a major fan of hers for the role of Sue.

If McAdams were younger, she might seem more like Crystal than Sue.

Banks has the warm charisma thing I was talking about earlier. Im just not sure as her as a dramatic actress. She was alright in THG and in that one movie with Russell Crowe.
I think she'd be better in an ensemble/team superhero film like FF than if she had to carry the whole solo movie.

Wouldnt be mad if she got it

Yeah, Elizabeth Banks would be another good choice. Some of it would also be dependant on how old they want the Fantastic Four to be. For me I don't want the Fantastic Four to be in their teens or even young 20's. I think they should be at least late 20's, but preferably between 30's and 40's age wise for me. I guess for me I see the characters ages like this.

Mr. Fantastic -38
Sue Storm - 32
Johnny Storm - 28
Ben Grimm - 36

Well anyways that is how I view them.

Surfer

Well if we are going by 616,

Then it should be something like Mr. F -- 38, Sue -- 26, Johnny -- 20-21, Ben -- 37 - 38.

BUT, what we have is they are all around the same age. :/

I always see them as older, like you said 30s and 40s. Save for Johnny who is mid to late 20s.

I dont really care about specific ages. I remember a year or two ago, there was a decent sized debate that Sue Storm and Reed Richards need to have a sizable age gap, because they do in the comics, which I think is silly.

I think however, that lends to Reed's seemingly "out of touch" mentality...whereas Sue seems to be in touch with everyone. To me that is a part of their characters and age has something to do with that...

In the movies, Sue seemed to be the one out of touch with everyone and for all practical purposes a *****.
