The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 9

I thought the Ant-Man trailer was very underwhelming, to be honest.

Though at least it existed, unlike the trailer for this movie.

here's something... according to filmmusicreporter, Marco Beltrami is gonna be scoring Fox's FF.
he's done music for Hellboy, Terminator 3, I, Robot, 3:10 to Yuma, The Hurt Locker, The Wolverine, Snowpiercer... and a lot of other stuff.

some of the reported rumors earlier gave me a little gasp of 'maybe it's not coming out', but it's just impossible to believe that they'd add more front into this if it was truly a bluff or was gonna be tanked.

i mean the announcement of the cast kinda was when my ship sunk on it. if this movie wasn't actually gonna come out, why would they drag people like they hired into it? it seems like they would've gone below that.

I'm conflicted about it, personally, but I'm with u guys cuz I understand exactly what is wrong with this movie. and if Trank pulls anything out of this, it's gonna be no thanks to Fox. but I just cannot hold onto any more hope that this movie is not gonna happen. i can only hope that Trank shoves it to them. which would be an overall loss for the Fantastic Four property in film, but i hope he does.

like I said, I am conflicted about this whole situation. cuz if I put the FF aside, this could be a comic book movie, the likes of we have never seen. it's that bizarre a situation. and I loved Chronicle, and I think it bore the marks of someone who has a lot of potential. he's the only thing keeping me with one foot in rooting for this mess.

i've mentioned this here before, but thinking that Trank is a potentially great director is not 'having faith in him', it's not 'drinking from koolaid' it's not whatever cute little thing is pulled to invalidate excitement for something he does.

it's simply saying... what the guy did before is definitely, to me, worth looking into. and any movie that he did following Chronicle would immediately be more interesting to me becuz of his involvement. if u don't see that potential, or see the opposite, then that is a disagreement between us, but acting like anyone who likes the guy is some kind of zombie idiot is just really lame.

and that's what happens here whenever his name is brought up as reason to anticipate this movie. and i think it's obvious and pretty balloon headed.

I always thought FF was coming out in August as scheduled and I continue to see no reason to believe that it will not. Just because it will probably suck doesn't mean that it's not coming out.

I think you're right, and I think Fox feels they have nothing to lose. They just won't spend much promoting it and they'll probably make back the tiny budget from people who will see it just because it's called Fantastic Four.

Just look at this forum. There are people determined to see this even though every single thing we know about it is bad.

Just look at the reaction to Marco Beltrami. I mean you couldn't find a more generic composer if you tried, but there are people who are acting like they just hired John Williams.

But...the Ant-man trailer sucked (boring and generic). Oh wait, it's MCU, I meant it's awesome like it's the second coming.
:whatever:

Agreed. I expected more the way they promoted it but it was only a teaser so I will give them the benefit of the doubt. But to be honest, this is the one Marvel movie that has bomb potential, though I don't think it will. I think it will make around $175M DOM and maybe $400M WW unless they release some footage that just blows away. This teaser did nothing like that.

Ant-Man will still make more money then this piece of ****

Saw the Ant-man trailer. It's good, but it does feel like it jumps all over the place and I would have liked a look at the villain in costume and I think the milked the joke at the end of the narration a bit much. However there is still a lot more about Ant-man to be optimistic about than there is this movie.

Also the composer I don't know his work that well, but I'm not particularly impressed by most of the movies he's been associated with. Though to be fair that's more about the movies themselves than their actual music score.

There is a bizarre "FOX First" contingent that will support this film if it consists of Josh Trank giving the audience the middle finger for an hour and a half.

After seeing some of the negative reactions about this movie on Facebook vs the few still defending it. I wouldn't worry.

Maybe Fox will get confidence to release their ****** trailer, now that Marvel released their ****** trailer. Actually it would be so funny if the FF trailer ends up being the opposite of Ant-Man and all sorts of great. Now that would be a surprise.

I definitely believe that they will do the bare minimum promotion wise. Because of the name brand recognition I do not rule out the film doing better than expected.

TASM 2 says other wise

ASM 2 made a lot of money . . . it just didn't make enough to justify its production and marketing budget.

The value of the change in my couch probably rivals the production and marketing budget for FF.

When you look at how much money Sony got out of it as a Studio. With them splitting half of the Box Office. That is not a lot in the long run

Yeah, it was definitely a failure based on investment and expectations. But if FF makes half what ASM 2 did, it will be pronounced a success and we'll get a sequel.

That's what really worries me. ASM 2 made $200 M domestic and $700 M worldwide and we all know it was a flop.

Chronicle made $64 M domestic and $126 M and is, by all measures, a success.

I think this film will probably make, minimum, $100 M domestic and $200 M worldwide just on the FF name no matter how much it stinks.

That could be enough to say it's a success.

I like the Ant man teaser, but the FF teaser could be easily better than it and yet still get more hate.

Sony's problem is that they overspent and can't cover the shortfall with merchandise because Marvel gets all of that money. Still 708 million is a lot and shows just how popular Spidey is.

Fantastic Four isn't anywhere near as popular as Spider-Man but I'm not going to say that it's out of the realm of possibility that it does better than expected. The international market has expanded and could help FF tremendously.

I wouldn't be shocked if the teaser is better than Ant-Man's and yes I expect most to not admit it if it is.

Lets also not forget Amazing Spidey 2 was not so much a Bomb as it was a performance disappointment. It still made sony alot of money, but it was not the amount they expected or projected it to make. That's actually the truth to why it was considered a "disappointment" and why it's not considered a "failure" or a "bomb"

Okay, and why is that......?

Seriously why do you think most people hate this reboot?

For the money they are spending on it, there's no way the effects will be better.
