kick-ass has been listed as the 123rd best movie ever on IMDB's top ratings list. anyone agree with it or not?

Well, if Avatar can be #78, then Kick-Ass can surely be in the Top 250 as well. Just my opinion.

In that prospective, I would agree. KA is not top 250, but if the fanboys got Avatar on the list, KA should be at least one spot above that! True.

Batman forever while flawed, is a good addition to the original franchise. X3 is good, but not anywhere near as good as X1/X2, it also needed to be about 40 minutes longer. 90 minutes my ass... and incredibles had superheroes..hence my count:hehe:

X3 was not good, I have to say. It was a generic, heartless, soulless, empty, hollow, [insert adjective] big budget studio money printer. The story was half-witted and underdeveloped, it needlessly killed off Cyclops in the first 15 minutes, did not develop any relationship, regressed many (like Wolverine and Rogue's),ruined the characters of Rogue, Pheonix, Xavier, etc. The direction was lackluster and uninspired, so that despite all that money, it was far less suspenseful than the first X-Men film, which literally had less than half the budget. And it was kind of boring. If not for Hugh Jackman and Ian McKellan, that film would have been unwatchable.

But agree to disagree, I suppose.

i'm thinking bout rewatching this again.
but on a weeknight. after work. and by myself. in the theater.

is that bad?? :csad:

I agree. Also in the movie
BD is a much more likeable character, as opposed to the comics. I liked his Movie-Death more too, was more tragic. Although, I do like how in the comic HG goes from this badass little girl, to after killing genovese, turns to dave and asks "can I have a hug?":csad:

Definately, I wouldnt have minded them keeping the 'hug' part in the movie, bit the rest I am SO glad they changed, Big-Daddy came accross as a bit of an ass-hole in the comic to be honest, wasnt really sypathetic at all. In the movie he was very sympathetic.

One difference that I liked was that

Big Daddy's origin was complete BS. That in the end everyone was a dork in a costume just like everyone else.

Definately, I actually hated him towards the end in the comic, the **** he had put his little girl through, and all for the pretty much nothing, glad they changed it in the movie.

Still, the movie pulled it off much better, but both comic and movie have unique qualities that make them both worth having.

Totally agree, X3 is one of the worst movies I have ever laid my eyes on, especially in terms of comic book movies when looked at in comparison to the best ones. The most annoying thing is X3 should have been THE best one.

At this point, I would either want a private viewing, or a decent crowd with a good reaction. So yeah, nothing wrong with that.

yeah, I guess like Dacrowe said, agree to disagree.

does anyone know what Cage says to Hit Girl when she says getting shot hurts more than when you did it?

Loved the movie saw it two times opening weekend. I never read the comics but it was one of my fave comic book movies! The only part that I felt was kinda chessey and out of place was the jet pack. Also how come hit girl/ Mindy and Dave are in the same school? Dave is like 17 or so in high school and hit girl is 11 going to high schoo with Dave? I when I saw that in the movie I was like huh? But other than that awesome movie! To bad the general public did'nt support it.

That was long. ;) :oldrazz:

But I would like to see a sequel if they can come up with a good story. I agree it has something to do with a ton of (stupid) superheroes and supervillains running around and making fools of themselves, save of course for Hit Girl. I don't know what should pull them out of retirement, but it may have something to do with Big Daddy's reputation with Red Mist figuring out who BD was and trying to reveal it. As long as she can kick his proverbial ass.

I do think that Mindy and Dave should have an evolving relationship. I would strongly oppose exploring her crushing on him (at least until a possible third installment when she'd be 16-18, at least) but a big brother/little sister thing would work. With him trying to keep her from killing anyone at school and acting sociable, while she teaches him how not to get his ass kicked in every fight he gets into.

But I don't think it should deal with Mindy having "girl problems" or PTSD. I don't want to see her questioning whether killing people are wrong, having nightmares about it and feeling unpopular for being picked on. They can touch on her being socially out of step with the world due to her brainwashing, but like in the first movie, it should be acknowledged but not the point of her character. What BD did to her was wrong, but she she should not be an angsty teenager dealing with past traumas or alienation.

I'd prefer more of her being somewhat isolated in school because when the "mean girls" try to screw with her, she breaks their noses and Dave has to keep excusing her actions. But she should remain a supporting character who exudes awesomeness, with a hint of tragedy. But I don't want to see her become a "normal teenager" like Dave and dealing with boredom, bullies, the opposite sex, etc. in a serious way. That would just take away what makes her character so likable and pushes her closer to being like Peter Parker--like Dave. While a female Peter Parker would be interesting, I don't want it to be HG.

BTW one of the three deleted scenes involves her and BD singing. I heard in an interview (it is on YT) that BD creepily started singing "We will be victorious" and then commanded her to harmonize and sing in tenor, etc. She mimicked it in the interview, it was hilarious.

You have interesting points too. There is no reason for Mindy and Dave to continue dressing up as superheroes since Mindy finished what she and her dad started; there would have to be something at stake. When Mindy is into her teen years, Dave would be on his way to some college. Assuming Katie watched the whole live execution incident, she could probably put 2 and 2 together if she sees Dave with Mindy.

I took it as clearly she's a lot more sophisticated than most 11 year olds...maybe they decided to start her out as a freshman?
