"The three a******s, laying into one guy while everybody else watches? And you wanna know what's wrong with me? Yeah, I'd rather die... so bring it on!"

:funny: haha what was this from? that german interview?
Yeah, that German radio interview I posted a few pages back. That was definitely the most entertaining of Aaron's interviews I've seen. They should have just sent Chloe everywhere with him - she seems to force him to have a little bit of fun, lol.

Katie getting together with dave really annoys me, it's quite a big difference from the comic.

Mark Miller made a comment about her character change too

^where is this comment Miller gave about Katie, I'd love to read it

and I agree, it's the movie's 1 flaw, and only it's 1 flaw IMHO = Kickass getting the girl. It went against EVERYTHING not only the movie, but the comic is about. It was a horrible change and added absolutley NOTHING to the overall story

although the movie is a 9.5 out of 10, it could've easily been a perfect 10 if it wasn't for that little tidbit

So is it still going to pass $50 million in the US? If it does it will be a struggle. I'm hoping it will be at least at $46 million after this weekend, but Iron Man 2 is going to take a big chunk out of its box office.

In other news it looks like Matthew Vaughn is going to make X-Men: First Class. I'm disappointed by this in several ways.

1) It means Kick-Ass 2 is very unlikely as Chloe Moretz is aging fast and the earliest it could happen is if she was 15 or likely 16 (and chances are that will be too old for what they want to do). This may mean he knows the B.O. just won't be there for a return of Hit-Girl. :(

2) I don't think X-Men: First Class will be a hit and it may hurt Vaughn's career. It is no secret that X3 and Wolverine sucked. Most people seem tired of the franchise and if it is an X-Men movie without even the Wolverine character/Hugh Jackman...I don't see it succeeding.

3) It's a Tom Rothman production. The guy who brought us X3, Wolverine, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, I, Robot, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Elektra and any number of poorly construed decisions like pissing off Bryan Singer and cutting Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven down by close to 50 minutes for its theatrical run. I.E. Fox's tentpole films that are executive driven, generally suck.

So, I'm a bit disappointed, indeed.

Wikipedia, under development he said "they softened her up" and described the film as a chick flick (this was before the film was released)
the source is a video interview between Vaughan and Jonathan Ross, I haven't watched it I'm just going off wiki)

EDIT: forgot the link: http://timesonline.typepad.com/blockbuster_buzz/2010/03/kick-ass-video-chat-embed.html

Dave getting the girl did add something to the story.

It gave him the perfect excuse to quit as Kick Ass. He even said it himself. He now has something to lose, he is finally happy, is risking his life as Kick Ass worth it?

But in the end he still did the right thing by helping Hit Girl... despite having the perfect excuse to call it quits he helped Hit Girl even though he knew he might not make it. He became a true hero, he was ready to sacrifice his happiness to do the right thing.

But that's wildly different to the source...what if Batman did that?

I don't mean to demean anyones opinion, but i think people are looking too much into "getting the girl" and "not getting the girl" because Katie is so different in the comic and movie.

In the comic she is aware that Dave, happened to STALK her and she finds that utterly creepy, then she befriends with him as she thinks he's a gay prostitute and is feeling sorry for him, only to find out the guy was still being the disgusting stalker she knew him as.

In the movie Dave isn't a stalker and we learn she found him attractive, even saying being abit disappointed that he happens to be gay. So yeah there is a good difference between the Katies as a person aswell.

doesn't matter, her finding him attractive was blatantly FORCED. Which is why it didn't work and is the films 1 flaw

1. There is no chance in hell a girl like that would be attracted to a guy like that. Doesn't happen, not in reality. 2. If she found him attractive, why out of the clear blue? Why in the begining of the movie when she calls to her friend "hey beautiful" after dave realises she wasn't talking to him, she walked off with her friend laughing? Not the actions of a girl that finds a guy attractive

Miller is correct, they softened her ass up, and it was a HORRIBLE decision to do so. It brought the film down

You must be very pessimistic to honestly believe that a girl like that would ever find a guy like him attractive. Opposites attract, ever heard of that? There's no set system, if you fall for someone...that's it.

And their attraction wasn't out of the blue...at first she connected to him because she thought he was gay and thus wasn't threatened by him and was someone she could confide in. Then as time went on and they spent more time together she clearly started to fall for him hence the "its too bad you're gay." line. It was a gradual progression in the film.

As far as the change, it didn't bother me one bit. And I personally preferred it as it made their relationship mirror that of a Superhero's relationship with his girlfriend. I mean in almost every single CBM we've seen have we ever had a scene where we see the gf scared and or in tears over the fear of what her bf is going through for being a hero? NO.

The torture scene when they cut to Katie as she's in tears watching the beating live was a very powerful scene and showed just what is at stake when heros do what they do and how their actions not only impact them but those they care about in an indirect way.

I prefered that approach over her to say...having Dave beat up and sending him a pic of herself giving a bj to another guy.

It's wildly BETTER than the source. It adds to the story in a big way. Did you even read what i said?

Dave not getting the girl in the comic and being knocked out by her boyfriend was done for a shallow laugh... nothing more.

The way it was done in the film actually added some depth to the character.
