The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

I don't know if this picture has been posted already...But here's the full picture with the semi in background and the thug...

Gawd you cant even tell thats ledger any more! Its like the joker really did take over him. Damn!

I'm surprised they make it out of that semi without a scratch. They had to have been thrown around in there pretty good.

BTW, the only thing I do not love about his outfit is the keychain. I wonder what the idea behind that was. Punk, I know, but it's not necessary for the Joker.

Well it's pretty plain compared to the dapper look the more narccissitic interpretations always favor but it's good for what it is a Joker who has yet to become The Joker we all know and love. I think part of the "evolution" that the character will go through during his "rise" in the film will be that he will become even more comfortable with his appearance and grow to be more vain. Least I hope so.

VANITY: having or showing undue or excessive pride in one's appearance or achievements : conceited

Let's not forget that The Joker simply has a deviated sense of psychosis, so maybe to him, his look should be the norm.

what if he doesn't care what he wears, his choice of outfit is simply due to the fact that he 'thinks its funny'. and in nolans gotham i reckon it is.

I love this comment, it makes more sense than most others on here.

He is an absolute remember! He only sees himself as the Joker and not the person he is or was.

Its awesome. Because this film will have three totally different psychologies in this movie: Bruce Wayne, who chooses to become Batman and then he choose to be Bruce Wayne again. The Joker, who is always the Joker and who made himself this thing and never turned back. Two Face, who didn't choose his persona but was changed and messed up from Maroni's doing.

I don't think he made it out without a scratch. In the trailer if you look closely when he says hit me he has blood on his mouth. His scars are reopened and his bleeding.

the chain is a pocket watch, i thought it was mentioned in one of the interviews with the costume designer...if so i love the idea of him having an old fashioned watch

It's a pocket watch. You can see it in the trailer when they unload his knives. It's right next to it.:hoboj:

He takes pride in it and obviously has embraced it by wearing bright colored clothing and a prankerish chaotic demeanor. He grows to be proud of his appearance in that he's almost always never anything less than very stylish and dapper like any other vain person in this world. Every one of his actions has an element of humor and normality to him and he's not afraid to share that with the rest of the world which is why he is such an anarchist in the first place. I have faith that when Nolan mentions "the rise of The Joker" what he means is an evolution from what he will be at the beginning of TDK to the guy I described I above and we've seen in the comics for the longest time.

I'm not saying that this Joker may not be comfortable in his own shoes already as yes the main essence of vanity is taking pride in one's appearances regardless of what style of appearance that may be. By the same token though I'm going by Nolan and his team saying that the character goes through an evolution in the film.

'You are powers of argument'? English ain't my first language, but I'm fairly certain that 'your' is the correct one.

Que? What are you talking about?

We're simply talking about how dumb your posts are. Caine types a well written-right on the mark post and you quote him with no reason simply saying "you're off base." You did the same thing with Crook in the Joker-makeup thread.

Huh? It doesn't say edited in my post. What are you talking about?
Unless you specify why you edited, the posts don't log edits.

And this is a discussion board. If you're going to counter-point, provide reasons, otherwise you're just taking away from the discussion.

And why would I care what people on the internet think? People have opinions and I have mine. If you don't like them that's fine with me. I'm not trying to win people over or explain myself. The fact that you attack me for that just goes to show how seriously you take this stuff.

Why so serious?

I wasn't attacking you, I only said your "off base" post was dumb...you explained nothing. People just prefer a little indulgence for things like that.

Exactly.

The first new member to the board for 2008 seems to be off to a shining start. :/

off topic, it is a pet peeve of mine when people confuse you're with "your". I've seen my friends in their papers using the incorrect 'your', and I think it's due to the internet MOSTLY on AIM. That's my theory anyway.

When I was a teacher I once received a paper from a student with "u" for "you"... it made me throw up a little in my mouth. Text messaging is going to be downfall of the English language :(
